You are right! I just don't look at magazines anymore. I used to. But even my Birds & Blooms sits unopened a lot of the time, though I don't want to stop getting it. It's the only magazine I allow myself anymore.A Colorful Worldhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06890388727784255219noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1805669296660138956.post-25384707110872926762015-07-02T11:04:21.454-05:002015-07-02T11:04:21.454-05:00Bahahaha!! About once a year I may buy one off the rack, like if Johnny Depp is on the cover. When I was a young wife and mother, and even into later years, I thought women were "supposed" to like and read magazines. I'd buy Vogue, Redbook, Allure ... even Family Circle ... my m-i-l got us a Reader's Digest subscription every year and I'd read it faithfully ... then one day I began to wonder why leafing through a mag gave me a dull headache and left me frustrated and vaguely depressed. I realized it was because of the ADVERTISEMENTS. WHY should I pay someone for the right to pitch their stupid product to me? It's insane. And you're right: as years went on, it seemed to be turning into nothing BUT advertisements!!!! The only "holdout" in my mind was Vanity Fair, a magazine (still chock-full of ads) that always has a couple or three long, sophisticated, well-written articles. But in the last five or so years, VF -- ALREADY an extremely liberal publication -- has moved so far left, it's disgusting. I won't touch it anymore. Recently I began receiving Martha Stewart Living -- to look at the magazines when they come in the mail, anyone would think I bought a subscription. I DIDN'T. It looks like a nice enough mag but I plan to call and ask WHY are you sending me this? I did not order it, I would NEVER order it, and if someone ordered it for me, they don't know me very well and they haven't come forward so, what is the deal. SORRY to go on and on but you touched a nerve. Imagine that! Haaaahahaha love ya girl. xoxoJennyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03944766018173436353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1805669296660138956.post-38684287041998403132015-06-22T17:09:53.127-05:002015-06-22T17:09:53.127-05:00Everyone out for the almighty dollah. they sacrif...Everyone out for the almighty dollah. they sacrifice the firstborn for it. I used to subscribe to many but they have gradually been cut out of my life, all but a few selects - Garden & Gun and 2 photography magazines. I loved your list of ad topics. Have you ever noticed that news programs have a lot of commercials for bodily functions? I only get one magazine and it is mostly for my daughter--"W" magazine, which is all fashion. Even the ads are glorious and visually appealing, so you don't mind them.

Check out magazines online or on your Kindle. Not worth the money. I get suckered in all the time at the stores. I read the cover and one or more of the headlines grab me. I buy it and it never fails I'm totally disappointed and wished I wouldn't have wasted the money. I admire you, Donna, for always standing up for yourself, and everyone else. I stopped buying magazines a long time ago. Just about anything you want to know is online anyway. It's the same with television, so many ads. I play solitaire on my phone when the commercials come on. :)

Good job, my friend.
xoxoSallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02865722713732049339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1805669296660138956.post-80680264708963522812015-06-12T08:50:11.291-05:002015-06-12T08:50:11.291-05:00I used to get it for my mom.
