Ok, Ok....I know you're probably getting sick of seeing photos from our photo shoot but I've just been trying to get the best ones done and posted. Would you believe I've been asked to do a photo shoot of my Own?? Someone saw my photos on FaceBook and asked Crystal (daughter) if Donna Staas Photos would do a shoot for their son's senior pictures! Unbelievable! I don't mind doing them but NOT without my trusty sidekick daughter, Crystal. I had FUN when she let me go with her on her shoot...no pressure! I just clicked and played. She makes the kids feel at ease and they laugh and feel comfortable. Me?Hahahaaa....I'd probably scare them half to death! SO! Crys will be there. Thank God...I know most of you talented old pros at photography are probably laughing up your sleeves right about now, but I'm Nervous!!Hahaaaa.....geeeeez.
If you have any suggestions, throw them my way!

It's Waiting on Me...

Happy Friday Guys! Hope all is going well for you... The above photo is of a roast being cooked as per Jeanne's instructions. Click on her name if you want the recipe. Scroll down to Jan 4th. For some reason, Blogger wouldn't let me copy and paste just that post! Oh well, it is SO simple. We get to taste the results this evening. It's a slow cooker recipe, and I did the first 4 hours yesterday...put in the refrigerator last night then I'll finish the last 4, this afternoon...although, I don't think it's going to Need it! I tested it with a fork...WHAT???Hahahaaa....(looking in mirror for evidence)...and it was already tender. So, we shall see!
Well, it's the weekend again...I have no idea what we'll be doing. Probably just playing catch-up on chores and playing around on the computer. Y'all have a great one!

I Just Needed to Smell...

a Bookstore!!Hahaaaa....Yes, I'm weird! We have all gotten so techie lately. If there's a book I've seen or heard of that I'd like to read, it's just too easy to download it onto my Kindle...Good for me but bad for the bookstores...So, today, I wanted a new book to go along with my new IMac and some photography books. Photography books are the one thing I absolutely will not download. I want to be able to hold it in my hands and look closely at the pictures. Lately it's been a bit hectic around here and when I get the chance, I run to our local Barnes & Nobel. The smell that assails you when you walk in through the front door is marvelous! BOOKS! INK! COFFEE...WHAT????Hahaaaa.....I don't want to see bookstores go the way of the dinosaur...We NEED them. So, if you get a chance...go visit one. Buy something...Maybe they'll stay with us a while longer.
And the photo? Ever heard of "New History?"Hahaaa...it just struck me as funny. I know what they mean but the wording is just a giggle.
It's rainy here and coldish (50) for a high. Just a nasty day but we really needed the rain. It's a "book" day...Guess I'll go grab a hot coffee and start leafing through my new finds. And YES I'm at work but I'm through with all my entries and I'm married to the boss....Hahaaa...

Goodness, it's already the 23rd of January! Would you believe it was 81 here yesterday?? Now it's back in the low 60s today. Horrible about all the tornadoes in Alabama! January no less! Bless their hearts...It's getting to where there's tornadoes all year round...not a good thing.
Hubby's Dad is doing much better...he came to the shop to go to Rotary with Hubby. Says he's dizzy though! Doctor to change his medication. Thank you all for your prayer and good wishes...It's a wonderful thing to have good friends help you through the unknown...
Well, guess I'll get busy here at work. I bought a new heavy duty shredder Saturday and spent Sat and Sun...shredding old files. Would you believe I'd saved stuff from the 70's??Hahaaa...gads. So, some of that industriousness needs to be applied to my files here a work...Have a great day!

I'm Not Ignoring Y'all!

I TRULY am NOT ignoring y'all! Promise! It's just been crazy here...We went out of town last week then at four am on Monday morning the phone rings and it's my MIL saying she and FIL were at the ER...He had blood in his urine and it was getting worse...They had gone to the VA for help BUT it was Martin Luther King Day and the darn place was 'friggin CLOSED! SO, he tried to make it until he could see his doctor...didn't work..finally went to the ER.
They patched him up and he made an appt with his Urologist...long story short, today they went in and did a scope to see what was causing the problem...The doctor cauterized Something and allowed him to go home...sigh...at the point of this typing, I'm still not sure What was found. I had to come back to work and hubby is helping his Mom with Dad....
I am NOT impressed with 2012 right now....

Good Sunday afternoon everyone! SO sorry about not posting lately but Hubby had a PHCC (Plumbing, Heating, Cooling Contractors) meeting in Harlengen, Texas Thursday and Friday. That's WAY down South, almost to the border of Texas. We drove...8 hours one way on Thursday...8 hours back again, on Saturday morning. It was a long haul but we made it, AND, where EVER Hubby goes, Wife (me) must follow! I know, I know...it's simply NOT fair for wives to have to do this sort of thing BUT, If I want him to keep cooking on the weekends, just call me "She Who Must Obey"...Hahaaa....yeppers.
For those of you that follow me on FaceBook, I'm sorry you must be subjected to these photos again...but! I didn't show Before and After's over there but am doing so, here. The day was very cloudy and damp but I still got some good shots. I'm still trying to learn how to get more clarity when using the camera and PhotoShopEle10, so bare with me. What I HAVE learned to do is to add color! What fun that is....I like photos that have light added to them but NOT those that are SOOOO light, all you can see are people's eyes and lips!! You've seen those edits here on the web...That's not for me...I'm all about Color...and an occasional black and white or vintage shot.
Well, I'm still doing laundry and trying to find the energy to get things ready for work tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Monday!!

Well, Crystal took pity on me and let me go with her and the kids on an official photoshoot Sunday. How Fun is That?!!! I believe I took over 233 shots!Hahaaa....Crystal would be directing how she wanted them to pose and I'd just be clicking away...Now I have something to work on in Photoshop Essentials10. This is my Grandaughter, Samantha. She'll be 17 next month...Lordy people! Time is just flying. So as I post on the blog, I'll also be slipping in shots that I took. Have a Great Monday everyone!!

Shrimp & Grits, IMACs and Toast for Breakfast...

Santa was good to me...I've only written him, about wanting to switch over to Macs, ohhh...nine or ten times...Hahaaa...I've got tons to figure out! Like...In my Photoshop 10 for MAC, how do you save photos in .jpg format? Can't find the place to change it like I could in the PC version of PSEs....For all of these photos, I had to go to PicNik to change them...what a pain!
Buddy Always gets ONE little bite of breakfast from me...in this case, toast.

Hahahaaa....OH! Stop That! I don't remember where I found this recipe but I had said to Hubby, sometime last week, that I thought that Grits sounded good for breakfast someday soon...Well...This morning I'm sitting at my new IMAC/Lion-OS (Oh Yeah...Santa is SO sweet) when I start to smell...shrimp! Mind you, it's 6am...time for another coffee from the kitchen. Upon my arrival, there's Hubby hunched over his steaming pot of...something. Oh well, I grab a fresh coffee and head back to the computer.

"Breakfast is Ready!", I hear.

Hahahaaa.....ok....This is what I find on my second trip to the kitchen. Shrimp & Grits. An old Southern staple. I'd never had my grits with shrimp before, but I had heard of it. Know what? Served with toast...I must say it was good! I just think it's better served for supper than breakfast...Hahaaa....too heavy a meal.

Well, guess I'll go get a coffee refill...my last cup has gone cold.

Ok! Crystal just called! We are going out on picture taking expedition...Maybe I'll get something worth posting...

A Week Already?

When "they" said 2012 was going to fly by so fast it could give you a nose bleed, "they" weren't kidding! Already one week into the new year! I don't think I've ever gone this long without posting... Oh well, absence makes the heart grow fonder...Or!!! It Better Have had!Hahaaaa....
I can't seem to get my wheels 'ta rolling! Our Christmas tree is STILL standing in the living room. It IS nekked (Necked for you Northerners) and all the ornaments are boxed and ready to go back into storage but when we get home from work, it's like we suddenly turn into zombies! Geeeez! The week has had it's "turns" though... Hubby's Mom went to the ER feeling dizzy and not being able to see much out of her left eye...Got to the hospital and they didn't find anything! Said there might have been an infection in her eye and to see her Ophthalmologist the next day. He couldn't find anything either...Then, she wakes up in the middle of the night to find Hubby's DAD laying in the middle of the floor, passed out! The damn pharmacy had given him a prescription that was SIX times the normal dosage! They said, "there had been a problem reading the dosage...." HELLO!!!! Can't read it??? Call the DOCTOR!
Sorry...didn't mean to shout! You don't want to hear about my visit to a local nursing home to visit my friend...no, you don't....
ANYWAY!Hahaaa....That's how its been around here. Hopefully, Next week will show some improvement...Y'all enjoy the weekend! It's suppose to be pretty here. Maybe I'll get outside with the camera.....
