Fall, Family, Food and Fun?

Fall's not arriving until September 23rd.  I'm so tired of waiting!  The yard is once again patchy and burnt...no matter how much we water.  It just can't take the constant heat that lays on it like a blanket.  My Foxtail fern is holding its own though and so is the white jasmine and bougainvillea.  Interesting!  I'll plant more of those in future.

Taking a breather from the heat, daughter Crystal came up for a visit to see her daughter, Sam and grandbaby, Sloane.  We all went shopping at Hobby Lobby and then to lunch at Schmaltz Sandwich Shop.

While at Hobby Lobby, Sami found these cute little spoons.  I thought how cute, and they are small enough to feed baby Sloane with!  I'll try one out on Monday when I keep her.!

Sloane...the perfect shopper!

Here's the sandwich we had...My word they're one great sandwich!  Cook them up fresh for you.

Sloane certainly enjoyed herself and flirted with the customers.  She was a big hit.

I knew this trick but never have a popsicle stick hanging around to try it!

I took Hubby out for breakfast at our local cafe.  Most times we've gone, it's been really good...but not yesterday.  The gravy was salty and had a "mix" flavor.  I liked the bacon, but Larry did not.  Even the coffee tasted...off.  Guess it might have been a different cook?  No clue.  Eating out is a luxury these days.  I'm no longer willing to shell out $25 plus $4 tip.
Almost $30 bucks for what you see in above photo...In the future we'll be going to tried and true restaurants for our, "get out of the house" trips.

The Robinson Cafe...We like their hamburgers though...if that hasn't changed as well?!

I made Lemon & Garlic Spaghetti last week...turned out great!

Now, onto the Fun part of the post.  Did I say Fun?  I exaggerate... It is a nightmare for this old woman to learn!  Give me a wound to sew up...or an injection to give but this...Cricut hobby is getting my "goat"!  I even bought all the correct tools for it...like the iron in the above photo (the Cricut Maker itself was a, "because you need something to do that will drive you insane" gift, from Hubby...Well, it is certainly doing that!
And don't think I'm not grateful for his thoughtfulness...I am.  SO, I'll keep trying to create fantastical things with it...if I ever learn it.  I've tried Youtube and am still trying to find someone who understands that not all learners are 25 and... perky.

Cricut Maker 3

I did create this little bodysuit for Sloane...however, if it falls apart in the wash...well let's hope it doesn't!

I think Hubby can still run...lolol

One morning last week, we got up and that old dilemma of, "what to fix for breakfast", hit me.  Eggs, bacon and bread for toast were sitting on the counter, staring at me, so I just threw them all together into a sandwich!  We really enjoyed the change!

We went to a Mexican restaurant here in town that we really enjoyed.  It was new to us, so we stopped in for lunch.  Money well spent.  $35 plus $5 dollar tip.  That's a bit expensive but it was a lot of food.

My Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

(needed more sauce)

Larry's Chicken Enchiladas Verde

Well, I suppose I'll end things here.  Our week was basically quiet...although I did have a dental cleaning appointment.  I don't mind those...makes your mouth feel so clean...yes, I'm weird.
So, until next time, make good choices...be kind to each other...and

The Party, Meals, Cat & Mouse and The Limb...

Good morning, friends...
It's been a fast and furious week!  Sloane had double ear aches...they are going to schedule her an appointment with an Eye, ear, nose & throat doctor.  In between ear aches, she turned One.   Her party went off without a hitch...of which everyone ate, drank and made merry.

Sloane's Lolli (our daughter, Crystal) trying to figure out the best way to move her from the ball bin to her party on the porch...

Samantha asked me to make Sloane's "smash cake"...plain and simple!  Raspberry pink icing  with Strawberry cake.

Sloane realizing the benefits of buttercream for the first time...lol

Just about had enough frivolity...sweet thing.

The birthday girl...

Mom and Dad went all out for the older kids.  They had a ball, eating and playing.  People kept coming in as Larry and I were saying our goodbyes.

Happy Family...

Lol

In other news...I made croutons for the tomato soup Larry whipped up.  So good!

I found this photo on the internet somewhere...I gave it to Larry to create for a room here at the house or maybe to place outside...We'll see where it ends up.  I thought it was cute.

I can relate....lolol

I was babysitting Sloane when all of a sudden I heard a loud "POP"!
Looking around, I saw nothing...then when I went out onto the patio, I look at our red oak and saw the hole in the limb!  Constant heat (110 that day, in the shade) for weeks is really taking it's toll on trees in our area.  The limb simply exploded from the inside, out!  Has something to do with sap, and lack of moisture.

Anyway, Larry had to climb his trusty ladder and saw the limb down.  It was partially hanging on the neighbor's side of the fence.  What a mess.
We are SO done with Summer!!!

Had to buy a bale of straw to put onto my plants...or what's left of them!  I only just started...I'll be adding more to each plant.

I fertilized then placed the straw then, watered.  I water daily!
I don't know how much more of these high temps we can take...

Larry's chain saw needed sharpening so in 115* heat, he started working on it!  Oh Heck No Buster!!  Unless your life depended on it being repaired right now?  Get In The House!  It can wait until it's cooler!
So, after a shower, he and Sloane eat some real cheetos (those baby food ones taste awful) and before you know it...I look over and see Gampa's sleeping!lol...whupped!  Sloane never moved...Barney was on the TV.
Well, that's about it for me this week...Am praying for all those in Maui that have lost so much!!
I pray you all are having a sweet and peaceful week!
So, until next time...

Color, Birthdays, Projects and Favicons...

Good morning, Friends!
Just checking in with you.

This is the photo of our Sloane, that we love so much, but in color.  I've been working on several of Larry's wood projects, trying to finish them up before her birthday party, on Saturday.

I had printed and inserted the One Year slot with the black and white photo, but something wasn't right about the look of it!  So, when Samantha finally gave me the colored one...it just made the whole board pop with color.  That small brown line above each photo is just a shadow...I was in too big a hurry.

This is the photo board our daughter, Sloane's grandmother (Lolli), asked us to make for the party but also for her to carry home.  I'll be giving Samantha (Sloane's Mom) the pink photo board above, to keep.

Question!
How many of you had, or has, a problem with your Favicon not showing up when you post a comment on some other blog?  I have the problem, off and on once in a while.  The Favicon is your personal "calling card", (photo) to, in an instant, make your comment recognizable to the blogs host.  And other commenters, as well.  Mine is a pink rose.  I've had it for 16 years and I could never figure out why it wouldn't show up, at times, when I'd leave a comment!  Was I signed in? Yes...so...What I discovered was a simple fix that I came across mainly because I wasn't paying attention!  If you are having the same problem, on your blog, go to:
Design...Settings...Go all the way to the bottom...Click on User Profile...The third heading down is, Profile Photo!  Do you see your Favicon, or Photo?  No?  Reload it!  Simple...
Now my Pink Rose is, once again, showing up when I leave comments.
When Blogger does their updates, for whatever reason, it can knock out the Favicon photo.  Just make a note to check it first if your Favicon doesn't show up when commenting.
It's the Devil in the Details!

;o)

Since it was my birthday on the 9th, my 72nd, Larry took me to our favorite place for tacos.

We were going on Wednesday but since I had to be at Ruth Ann's doctor appointment, we went a day early (ended up on Taco Tuesday! Discount!).  Her appointment is with the colorectal surgeon to see when and if, she can have her re-attachment surgery. We were gone most of the day trying to attend to and arranging her appointments...test.

Ruth Ann, waiting to see the Doctor...

Her doctor graduated high school when he was 12 years old....then went on to college, then medical school.  He's one sharp cookie; we really like him.  The painting above is of Jesus helping a doctor with his work...it's huge and beautiful...his whole office is filled with gorgeous Christian paintings!

Well , I guess that's about it for me this week.  Our daughter Crystal will be coming to town today to help Sami get ready for Sloane's birthday party on Saturday.  I'll be watching Sloane for a little while so they can go shopping.
Hope you all are having a peaceful and happy week.  The weekend is here again!  Be safe and until next time...
