Birthday...Family and Food

Good morning Friends... Hope you all are doing great and are safe and happy!
Well, yesterday I turned 74.  It was a fun day spent with Larry and our girls... Hubby grilled a tri-tip roast...and cheese sausage.  we ate sandwiches (on LoCarb sandwich bread) The meal was so good!  And lots of laughing and chasing little Sloane who will have her 3rd birthday on the 15th and getting cuddles with Lottie.
We went shopping for Sloanes party favors and Lottie's formula... all in all, a blessed day spent with loved ones.

Most people get flowers or candy or a meal out for their birthday...not me! lol...I got a new gas stove.  Really needed one.  The old one was a Jenn Aire and worked great for years.  But it new needs a serious rest.  Pilot lights work off and on...the enamel has worn down from many cleanings... and the two ovens are two too many for us these days.  I went with a gas, 30", single oven, self-clean, simple model, Whirlpool. Along with a matching microwave that serves as the ventahood. Gets delivered Monday.  Can't wait.

Then I asked Larry to make me some wooden forms so I could wrap my fabric... Makes it so much neater!

We ate out after church...enjoyed the Chinese buffet!

Larry made chicken breast, green beans with cream gravy... seriously good.

I made fried chicken thighs with a sweet potato in the airfryer.

Anyway...that's about it for me this week...
Hope you all are in good health or doing some great healing!
So... until next time ...

Sweet...The Girlz, Cooking and Washing.

Good morning, Friends!  It's been a busy week.  Deliveries, eye appointments...Going with the girls to eat lunch...babysitting Sloane...cooking...buying a new washing machine...watching an ambulance take a neighbor to the hospital...(long story)...he couldn't ahhh...go to the restroom...doesn't take his medications...we think he's having some dementia issues.  I feel so sorry for his youngest daughter living 3 hours away.  Every time he sneezes, he thinks he has to call her to come back home to take care of him...sad.  He hates that she married and moved away...personally, I think he knows what he's doing...anything to get her here...so sad!

The girls (Daughter Crystal, granddaughter Sam and great granddaughter Sloane and I, the old crone...lol) went out to eat at our favorite sandwich joint, Schmaltz's.  Wonderful lunch and lots of love from my SloaneyGirl!

Crystal holding her granddaughter, Sloane for an after-lunch nap.

My grandbaby Samantha resting...

Samantha's newest commercial photo...I love her so much!

Oh, my word, this pork roast was wonderful!  Added red potatoes, bell pepper and sweet onions along with some butter.

We were craving Chicken & Dumplings...They were really good!

I made Key Lime Pie yogurt...always wonderful.

Had to purchase a new washing machine.  I will NEVER own a front loader machine again!  My fancy front-loader Bosch (10 yrs old) needed a new Mother Board...No Way $$$ .... I'd had enough trying to use the mechanical "go-around" to wash clothes!  It won't spin... Ridiculous...Larry thought it was just fine and that it might be "crippled" but, it still worked... :oo
He sang a different song yesterday when I told him since he was fine jumping through hoops while trying to get the wash done...I believed it was time for him to take over the washing duty!
He couldn't get me in the truck to Lowes, fast enough.
My new washer will be delivered...today.

When it would snap up the ERROR message, I'd have to do A through F...

Our feral cat, Miss Kitty relaxing with us for just a little while before meowing to go back outside.   We really hope we can get her trained to use the dog door, coming into the house, before Winter!  That's Buddy sitting in the chair...observing her.  Both dog babies (Buddy & Libby the pug) and Miss Kitty get along just fine!

Larry bought a new toy...a 3-D Printer... I have no idea why...but if that's what makes him get up in the morning, good enough.  He's 76...77 in October.  He needs to keep busy and have fun while doing it.  He goes in on the 16th of September for a check-up on his bladder cancer.  Keep him in your prayers please.

This is his first project...lol...It's a pattern that came with the machine. I asked if he could make toys for Sloane, and he says he can.  Special project patterns cost, and those prices vary.  Doesn't everything?

Well, I suppose that's all for now.
I hope you all are happy and safe in your worlds...so until next time....

Chairs, Sandwiches, Food...and a little Venting?

Good Morning, friends!
Goodness, the week has flown by!
Let's see...I ordered Sloane a chair from Amazon,  She's getting to where she likes to look at her books but sits on the floor.  Well, Gamma ain't having that! Lol... She needed a nice comfy chair that doubles as a sleep mat!  The things they come up with these days!

It even has a side pocket for her books...handy!

You remember I told you about the box I made into a little house for Sloane to get into and read or just play?  Well!  Look see who's crawled into it! Lolol

We ate out at our favorite sandwich shop...Schmaltz.
These things are addictive!  The bread is so good...and they're served hot.

I had to run to JoAnn's Fabric store yesterday...when I spied World Market and decided I needed to spend a little time there, as well.  I found this delicious smelling, glass pumpkin candle....Cider and Cinnamon.

I had a Dirt Devil hand vac that decided to croak after using it for only a few weeks!  Hand vacs are so handy.  I'd ordered it from Amazon for cheap so, sending it back wasn't worth the time or expense. In the trash it went and Larry found this Black & Decker at Walmart.  $49 and some change...it's a little powerhouse!

Since daughter Crystal was in town, we all (me, Sami and Crystal) decided to take Sloane to a play (romp room) in town.  She had some serious fun!  But we were famished so we stopped for a quick lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

Sloane was all up into that chicken sandwich! lolol

September screams chili, here in Texas!

Then...while reading blogs the other morning, I came across this recipe from Linda's Life Journal .  I only made a few adjustments.  I added cranberries instead of raisins (didn't have any) and added more cream.  I also used cinnamon instead of nutmeg.  It turned out great!  In fact, Larry said he liked it better than the old time recipe!

I let it cool then put it in the refrigerator.  It's also wonderful hot!

We've eaten frito pie for years!  Add all your favorite toppings.
Well, I suppose that's it for me this week.  Oh...and just a tiny aside?  Let me say, right off the bat, that I love all my Blogger Buddies!  Your kindness and love and support is a wonderful thing to behold.  I promise never to mention politics again, though...

I was reading a blog of one "friend" yesterday.  And out of the blue she starts off with words like "Cheeto-Head...and her husband friends, who were lovely and smart but, voted for Desantis...ridiculing a white church for having to have police surveillance during services...and betted $100 neither Black or Jewish facilities had the same courtesy on Sundays...and she's a English teacher.   (Jews attend Shabbat on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and afternoons).

Well...the post lit a flame inside of me...it was hurtful to me, as a Conservative.  You never hear me talk about the current administration!  Although there would be all kinds of cruel things I could say...but I see no sense in doing that!  How you vote is your decision... but I don't feel the need to post about my political views.  And I certainly would never insult you!  I follow some very political post that are kind and respectful, on both sides of the aisle.  But they also show me how to keep a garden or how to take a better photograph or how to make a special recipe.  I appreciate everyone who is simply kind and loving.  I don't care about your politics...but insult me?  And others like me?  I don't have time for all that hate...or ignorance.  My family has been through enough negativity this past year...and I just no longer have the strength to listen to such rhetoric.

Okay...rant is over...Thank you for reading this far!
So...until next time...

Fall, Family, Food and Fun?

Fall's not arriving until September 23rd.  I'm so tired of waiting!  The yard is once again patchy and burnt...no matter how much we water.  It just can't take the constant heat that lays on it like a blanket.  My Foxtail fern is holding its own though and so is the white jasmine and bougainvillea.  Interesting!  I'll plant more of those in future.

Taking a breather from the heat, daughter Crystal came up for a visit to see her daughter, Sam and grandbaby, Sloane.  We all went shopping at Hobby Lobby and then to lunch at Schmaltz Sandwich Shop.

While at Hobby Lobby, Sami found these cute little spoons.  I thought how cute, and they are small enough to feed baby Sloane with!  I'll try one out on Monday when I keep her.!

Sloane...the perfect shopper!

Here's the sandwich we had...My word they're one great sandwich!  Cook them up fresh for you.

Sloane certainly enjoyed herself and flirted with the customers.  She was a big hit.

I knew this trick but never have a popsicle stick hanging around to try it!

I took Hubby out for breakfast at our local cafe.  Most times we've gone, it's been really good...but not yesterday.  The gravy was salty and had a "mix" flavor.  I liked the bacon, but Larry did not.  Even the coffee tasted...off.  Guess it might have been a different cook?  No clue.  Eating out is a luxury these days.  I'm no longer willing to shell out $25 plus $4 tip.
Almost $30 bucks for what you see in above photo...In the future we'll be going to tried and true restaurants for our, "get out of the house" trips.

The Robinson Cafe...We like their hamburgers though...if that hasn't changed as well?!

I made Lemon & Garlic Spaghetti last week...turned out great!

Now, onto the Fun part of the post.  Did I say Fun?  I exaggerate... It is a nightmare for this old woman to learn!  Give me a wound to sew up...or an injection to give but this...Cricut hobby is getting my "goat"!  I even bought all the correct tools for it...like the iron in the above photo (the Cricut Maker itself was a, "because you need something to do that will drive you insane" gift, from Hubby...Well, it is certainly doing that!
And don't think I'm not grateful for his thoughtfulness...I am.  SO, I'll keep trying to create fantastical things with it...if I ever learn it.  I've tried Youtube and am still trying to find someone who understands that not all learners are 25 and... perky.

Cricut Maker 3

I did create this little bodysuit for Sloane...however, if it falls apart in the wash...well let's hope it doesn't!

I think Hubby can still run...lolol

One morning last week, we got up and that old dilemma of, "what to fix for breakfast", hit me.  Eggs, bacon and bread for toast were sitting on the counter, staring at me, so I just threw them all together into a sandwich!  We really enjoyed the change!

We went to a Mexican restaurant here in town that we really enjoyed.  It was new to us, so we stopped in for lunch.  Money well spent.  $35 plus $5 dollar tip.  That's a bit expensive but it was a lot of food.

My Sour Cream Chicken Enchiladas

(needed more sauce)

Larry's Chicken Enchiladas Verde

Well, I suppose I'll end things here.  Our week was basically quiet...although I did have a dental cleaning appointment.  I don't mind those...makes your mouth feel so clean...yes, I'm weird.
So, until next time, make good choices...be kind to each other...and
