Chairs, Sandwiches, Food...and a little Venting?

Good Morning, friends!
Goodness, the week has flown by!
Let's see...I ordered Sloane a chair from Amazon,  She's getting to where she likes to look at her books but sits on the floor.  Well, Gamma ain't having that! Lol... She needed a nice comfy chair that doubles as a sleep mat!  The things they come up with these days!

It even has a side pocket for her books...handy!

You remember I told you about the box I made into a little house for Sloane to get into and read or just play?  Well!  Look see who's crawled into it! Lolol

We ate out at our favorite sandwich shop...Schmaltz.
These things are addictive!  The bread is so good...and they're served hot.

I had to run to JoAnn's Fabric store yesterday...when I spied World Market and decided I needed to spend a little time there, as well.  I found this delicious smelling, glass pumpkin candle....Cider and Cinnamon.

I had a Dirt Devil hand vac that decided to croak after using it for only a few weeks!  Hand vacs are so handy.  I'd ordered it from Amazon for cheap so, sending it back wasn't worth the time or expense. In the trash it went and Larry found this Black & Decker at Walmart.  $49 and some change...it's a little powerhouse!

Since daughter Crystal was in town, we all (me, Sami and Crystal) decided to take Sloane to a play (romp room) in town.  She had some serious fun!  But we were famished so we stopped for a quick lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

Sloane was all up into that chicken sandwich! lolol

September screams chili, here in Texas!

Then...while reading blogs the other morning, I came across this recipe from Linda's Life Journal .  I only made a few adjustments.  I added cranberries instead of raisins (didn't have any) and added more cream.  I also used cinnamon instead of nutmeg.  It turned out great!  In fact, Larry said he liked it better than the old time recipe!

I let it cool then put it in the refrigerator.  It's also wonderful hot!

We've eaten frito pie for years!  Add all your favorite toppings.
Well, I suppose that's it for me this week.  Oh...and just a tiny aside?  Let me say, right off the bat, that I love all my Blogger Buddies!  Your kindness and love and support is a wonderful thing to behold.  I promise never to mention politics again, though...

I was reading a blog of one "friend" yesterday.  And out of the blue she starts off with words like "Cheeto-Head...and her husband friends, who were lovely and smart but, voted for Desantis...ridiculing a white church for having to have police surveillance during services...and betted $100 neither Black or Jewish facilities had the same courtesy on Sundays...and she's a English teacher.   (Jews attend Shabbat on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and afternoons).

Well...the post lit a flame inside of me...it was hurtful to me, as a Conservative.  You never hear me talk about the current administration!  Although there would be all kinds of cruel things I could say...but I see no sense in doing that!  How you vote is your decision... but I don't feel the need to post about my political views.  And I certainly would never insult you!  I follow some very political post that are kind and respectful, on both sides of the aisle.  But they also show me how to keep a garden or how to take a better photograph or how to make a special recipe.  I appreciate everyone who is simply kind and loving.  I don't care about your politics...but insult me?  And others like me?  I don't have time for all that hate...or ignorance.  My family has been through enough negativity this past year...and I just no longer have the strength to listen to such rhetoric.

Okay...rant is over...Thank you for reading this far!
So...until next time...

I love the little box fort for Sloane! There is just something about a box that works for kids and the cats! There are some days that I'd like to just crawl into a box too...it is so cozy!

I'm with you on the politics thing. I don't like it in social media or in person. If we agree on a topic, I'm okay chatting about it...but the disagreements get soooo ugly. We had a "friend" stick his finger in my face over politics and I will never forget that. Our relationship is over. It's a shame that it gets so ugly. Best to avoid, I suppose.

I like the little chair, how nice but if they had that back when my daughter was young, the cats would have taken it over when it wasn't being used. :) Have a great weekend.

It's obvious that Sloane loves her cute little chair. Funny how little ones love an empty box too. I used to make those box "forts" for my grands too.
The new Fall candle sounds delightful....Cider and Cinnamon...what better scent for the season?
Your new Dirt Devil looks sturdy. I hope it works well and lasts many a year!!
Have a lovely weekend, GM

Rant away..those are my sentiments exactly.
Just an aside on security at churches..
We live in area which is peaceful but there are undercurrents that get aroused now and then.
The churches we have attended do have security for a number of reasons. Its not blatant and most people don't even know the watchers are there.
Offering and very large churches can be targets..sad but true.
I'm always glad to know security is there.
NOW on to more pleasant subjects..
Sloane and her chair ..wow I love that and her "Box House" is charming and perfect for that sweet girl.
UMMM YUMMM
Fritos pie..makes me hungry just looking at it.
I love rice pudding but my hubby doesn't so I have to wait to get it at a restaurant or friends house..sigh

Max and Levi both have chairs like that and they still love them! Such a cute picture of Sloane "reading"! I love that glass pumpkin candle and will make a cute candy container when the wax is gone! I agree with you on the politics. I don't ever mention my political views and usually will stop reading any blog that does too much! Especially if they are not the same views as mine! XO

Great post. I'm from the northeast and I still have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that Texans make chili WITHOUT beans. hmmm, to me that's just meat sauce. I really like Frito-pie though.

About politics: opposing sides come from completely different world views. Hard to reconcile that in a friendship. I could say a lot more but I don't believe a blog is the right place for that conversation.

Great pics of Sloane.

Hello Donna. It is good to be back and to catch up on all your Summer news. Wonderful to hear about your sister Ruth Ann and to know prayers answered. Thinking and praying for Laura too.
Glad Sloane is better too, after her operation and that she is once again her sweet self.
Have a lovely weekend.

It's a shame that you don't do anything for that poor little Sloane! :)
I love the chair for her. There's no doubt she is well loved.
I Love that candle, bet is smells wonderful too.
The rice pudding looks good, and frito pie sounds yummy too. I'm making whit chicken chili this weekend.
I agree - no need to slam people. I can be friends with all even if I don't appreciate the way they vote.

I love frito pie made in the frito sack!! So good at ballgames. What a cute chair for Sloane, hmmm..I wonder if my Henry would like one. Maybe, we'll see. Chili season is almost here, I'm waiting for the first cold front to blow in.

Sloane is just too cute for words. She's enjoying that box.
You made me hungry with the food this morning. Hear my stomach rumbling?...lol
I stay away from anything political on blogs. There are a couple people I know personally who are die hard democrats. Both of them are always on Facebook always bashing republicans and calling them stupid for following a certain candidate. I quit following both of them.

This special chair for Sloane is very nice and I'm shure, she likes it!! I love all the new photos with little angel Sloane! What a beautiful Grandma (like a Mama) she has!! Grandgrandma always makes a fine kitchen-meal and if "on the road" she always has some snack for hungry small cats!
The new machine is a god helper in the house. Hope for a long success!

BLESSINGS BLESSINGS BLESSINGS to you and to your lovely family!

I like the chair for Sloane and Texas kitchen too ! But what I will never understand and whole Europe too, is what has religion to do with politics ? In all countries the church is never mentioned not even in Italy where the pope lives.

How cute is Sloane's little chair, and how lovely to see her enjoying herself in her very own play house!
I do stay away from politics on my blog, but I am getting your rant. What I really don't get is how people can be so cruel and hurtful. Surely the world would be a far better place if people respected other people's opinions and way of life, without the need of insulting when they don't agree with them.
Sending love xxx

Sloan is just plum adorable, grin. And DeSantis is my boss, so I really can't say anything and very rarely will you hear me/ see a political post. Now, do I rant or rave about things, sure...but honestly, political talk just wears me thin---I think we all feel the same way anyways, LOL.

Have beautiful upcoming Sunday.

I love rice pudding! I haven’t had it in a long time. I think my favorite recipe is by Neiman-Marcus’s chef. It was published a decade ago or more. It’s very rich, and it’s a bit time consuming in that it requires a lot of stirring, but it is well worth it.

I love Sloane’s chair! So cute. And her card board house is a good idea, I made one for Maxime. I often make rice puddings with raisins in Autumn and winter and I add vanilla.
I hope to visit Maxime in November or beginning of next year, I don’t think they will be able to come for Xmas the new baby is arriving beginning of next year.

Sloane's chair is terrific! I bet she loves it and will get many hours of happy use from it. :)

We're surrounded by politics, left, right, centre, and off-beam every which way we turn...it's a relief and good to keep it out of our blogging world. :)

Take good care. :)

I love the little chair you got for Sloan! She is adorable, and I love a girl who loves, Chick-Fil-A! It is chili season isn't it?! Nothing better than dumping chili into a frito bag...delish! I agree 100% on the political rhetoric! The world is so full of hate, let's just be kind, no matter who we vote for! I'm also extremely conservative, and have never felt the need to criticize or ridicule anyone on my blog...let's just try to get along without being mean :0) Have a great week! Barb

Love the chair thing you bought for Sloane, it's ever so cute and several of my grandchildren have had one like that one. Great idea for little ones.

Hi Donna ~ We share the some views and feeling about folks that are mean and insulting. That is the kind of rant that's needed. Thank you.

Oh my I do love the glass pumpkin candle...We had a World Market when we lived up North. I loved it. I like candles that have three wicks. They burn down so much better.

The chair is so cute. I think our little great grandson Daniel needs a blue one!!

Oh yunmy rice pudding. Don't you just love our blog buddy Linda in TX. She has the best recipes.

The fun that can come from "boxes". I remember when I was a little girl we got a hugh box (can't remember what came in it) but it was as big as a refrigerator. My girlfriend and I turned that box into a a hundred different stories. Thanks for the memory.

I love the picture of Sloane in the car with her handful of baby dolls. Adorable!

I was in a Chili mood last night and ran over to "Wendy's" and got some for me and my dearest. They make really good chili. And just like that...it's gone! HaHa

Enjoyed your post a lot! Love and Hugs to you!

Donna what a gorgeous photo that opened this post. Love that soup tureen. So drawn to lovely pottery and dishes. As for Sloane's new chair...adorable and love the box you made for her. Just goes to show kid's really don't care how fancy something is or not...love that makes a box to play in is love that makes a memory. Sloane will have wonderful loving memories some day. Your Frito dish sounds delish! You also made me hungry for chili (but I do put beans in mine :))!! Hope you soon can start enjoying fall weather. Have a great rest of the week! Hugs!

UGH I LOVE rice pudding! Want some now! And we don't call it Frito Pie but our family have been serving Fritos with chili for over thirty years and we will have it no other way! It's not quite chill enough here to make a batch of chili but SOON! xoxo

A chair for Sloane, adorable, along with the box she is enjoying in her photos. Looks like you've had another great week with your sweet family. That's a great looking sandwich from your favorite sandwich shop, and Fall decorations from that gorgeous picture you started out with to the pumpkin candle. Sounds like you are happy with your hand-vac. They come in useful don’t they? The rice pudding looks delicious and so does the chili! As for your rant, I respect you for it and you have a great attitude. I have the greatest respect for those who treat others with kindness and dignity, no matter what. Thank you for another great post Donna, and may the rest of your week be as fun as the start of it.

Congrats on your new vac:)

Hi Donna - well I am an English teacher, but I don't do political rants on my blog, so I know you weren't talking about my blog. I am just grateful to be an American where we can all vote and agree to disagree. For this reason, I really don't look forward to election season. Normally very nice people get very contentious. Cute pictures of Sloan, as always. I love the little chair you bought her. I hope you are having a good week.

Love the photos of Sloane and especially the one in the box. I think it is best to stay away from politics and religion when blogging. As you say we are all entitled to our ideas and beliefs and we should be respected.

Wishing you a good rest of the week.

I hate that our country has become so divided. We don't all have to think alike but it would be nice if we could reach across the table and explain and listen to one another's views with an open mind.

Isn’t that little pink chair the cutest for Sloane?? I’m sorry that I’m so behind in my visits, but it was nice catching up with you. I don’t discuss politics on my blog, either, or with certain people!
Happy weekend, Donna!
