Sinners, Lunch, Ice Cream...and Surgeries

Good morning, friends!
I'm a little late om this post...it's been a busy week.  Our little Sloane had to have tubes inserted in her ears on Wednesday and my sister had her colonoscopy Thursday...then I kept Sloane yesterday.  I think I'll be taking a tiny break from things today and try to get into a project with my Cricut machine.

I Loved Saturday Night Live...years ago...when Gilda Radner and Steve Martin (he's from Waco; had an Aunt that lived here, and he lived with her) were on.
Today's SNL??  Awful...

I put together our lunch the other day of grilled chicken kabobs with a sauce I've been using since 1972.  I'll try to get it posted on my cooking blog this week.

You can also use cubed or strips of beef...both are great.

Larry treated us to breakfast Tuesday, at Rosa's Cafe.  It's always good.

I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker.  I love it.  No pre-freezing of the bowl...just throw your ingredients in and turn it on.  We are an ice cream lover family, and this machine made my life so much simpler.  Done in 60 minutes!
Found it on Amazon...

After the machine has worked its magic, put it in a bowl, pop the lid on and put in the freezer.  This was double chocolate...wonderful.

Larry grilled up some chicken thighs and made the best white cheddar macaroni!  Sloane was with us, and she ate every bite!

Sweet Sloane, playing with her "twins"...Lol...yes...she now carries both of her baby dolls everywhere.  They were getting their bath in the photo above...smile.

You can tell she feels so much better since the surgery...such a happy baby again.

My sister, Ruth Ann's procedure went well!   The surgeon found a small polyp and removed it...said it wasn't cancerous.  She now qualifies for re-attachment surgery!  She is so sick of the bag...brighter days are hopefully coming!

Had me fooled for a second! Lol

In all of this atrocious heat, (105-110F), I was watering the other morning when I spied blooms on my ornamental pear tree!!  Unbelievable!!  I was so happy to see them...I guess this species blooms in the Fall?  No clue.  But!!  Cooler temps are on the way!!  101F today but starting tomorrow, 96F for the high then it starts dipping down into the 80F's!!  We are so happy about that bit of news!
Well, I suppose that's it for me...nothing very entertaining but just one of those "get it done" weeks.
So, until next time...be safe, make good choices and...

Yum on all that food (grin). And I totally agree on the thought about Saturday Night Live, grin. And aww on Sloane and your sister...will keep both in prayer. I hope you have a beautiful day friend. smiles

Sounds like you had a busy time of it. I wish I could get motivated to cook. I'm so over it...
I agree with you about the heat. I'm so over it too. Since it's just me, I'm contemplating moving. I dread the idea of doing another summer like the past two. But until then, yes, I hear the temps are going to be significantly lower next week. Bring it on!!!

I'm so glad sweet Sloane is feeling better after the tubes.
And - for the good report on your sister!
Your grilled chicken and kabobs look so good.
It's been quite cool here. I'm afraid Fall is really here.

The ice cream looks good and it would be great in the hot weather. Glad Sloane is doing better with her ears and your sister seems to be doing good too. A nice weekend for you, Donna. Take care and stay cool.

Adorable meme.
So happy for your sister!

Hi Donna. What a great post. Loved the food (of course) Looked so yummy! And that "Doll" with her twin dolls. Melt my heart! I was a "girly girl" and loved my dolls and played with them longer than most girls. Then I had 3 granddaughers out of 13 and not a one of them was a doll lover! They seemed to like horse figures...go figure, I'd get tomboy granddaughters.
So happy that the colonostopy with well and your sister will get to have the bag removed.
Yummy homemade ice cream without all the work!! Win-Win.

The hospital proof for work is hilarious!!

Sending hugs.

So pleased that Sloane is doing better since her ear surgery, that's a lovely photograph of her with the twins :)

Pleased too that Ruth's colonoscopy went well.

All the best Jan

I'm sorry Sloane had to get tubes in her ears. My son used to have ear infections, and at one point they mentioned tubes, but he didn't have to get them after all. That's good that Sloane's doing better since she got them. I'm glad to hear your sister's procedure went well. She's been through so much. All the food on here has me drooling. First, those chicken kabobs, and then the grilled chicken thighs and white cheddar macaroni! That is the sweetest picture of Sloane with her dolls. I do wish you would frame that sometime, it's a treasured photo. I bought Francesca a doll just like that when she was Sloane's age. I hope it gets cooler there, Yikes, 110!

Have a peaceful weekend, and a wonderful week ahead.

That season of SNL with Gilda, Jane, and all the guys was the best ever. Never did care for it much after them.
You're making me hungry with all the food. Especially that ice cream.

Glad also that your sis is getting the go ahead for reattachment surgery. PTL..
I agree with you on SNL. Its just plain gross and awful now.

What a week! The icecream and chicken are good for your nerves and heart and wellness! Art of life! O sweet Sloane!! I can imagine, that you and her parents were very afraid! But I see, your dear small angel is happy again! How nice she is playing with her baby-dolls! One year "old" and what a good mother she is!
May best wishes for your sister - o life can be so hard, but hope is strong and light is here, I see. God bless you all!

Weekends are usually my time to cook, but I just didn’t feel like it this weekend. That ice cream looks delicious. I do have a new recipe for ice cream that I want to try. Have a great week.

Kababs are looking good as is you ice cream. I'm fussy with icecream and only care for a certain brand.
Pleased your sister is alright, so hope all goes well for the reattachment.

I'm glad to hear Sloane's surgery went well. My little 2-year old grandson Cas has had the same procedure earlier this year. Good news about your sister too! And now I could do with some of your ice cream. Can't send you any more rain, I'm afraid. We've been having a late heatwave for well over a week! xxx

So sorry to read about Sloan’s ear problem (such sweet photos of her). Having had those issues when I was young, I remember the tubes. I am happy she is over that and feeling much better. Good to know your sister’s colonoscopy went well. I remember the Church Lady, and those days with SNL. I don’t watch it anymore either. Your chicken kabobs look great, as does the meal at Rosa's Cafe. Larry’s chicken thighs and his white cheddar macaroni, yum! I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker but have never used it, yet! Seeing yours makes me want to break it out. Those blooms on your ornamental pear tree are real pretty but I hope your temperatures will be lower real soon. Thanks for the humor, always makes me smile, and thanks for another enjoyable read.

Hooray for good results for your sister - and for Miss Sloane! Have a wonderful week ahead. So much good eating at your house:)

Donna - we used to enjoy SNL too. It has changed quite a bit since we used to watch it. Gilda Radner was the best!! Sloane looks like she loves to come visit and stay with you. Laughed at the hearing aids in the patient...took me a minute to figure it out also. Your chicken looks yummy. Going over to your cooking blog and check out the recipe for the sauce. Have a great week. Hugs!
