Sinners, Lunch, Ice Cream...and Surgeries

Good morning, friends!
I'm a little late om this post...it's been a busy week.  Our little Sloane had to have tubes inserted in her ears on Wednesday and my sister had her colonoscopy Thursday...then I kept Sloane yesterday.  I think I'll be taking a tiny break from things today and try to get into a project with my Cricut machine.

I Loved Saturday Night Live...years ago...when Gilda Radner and Steve Martin (he's from Waco; had an Aunt that lived here, and he lived with her) were on.
Today's SNL??  Awful...

I put together our lunch the other day of grilled chicken kabobs with a sauce I've been using since 1972.  I'll try to get it posted on my cooking blog this week.

You can also use cubed or strips of beef...both are great.

Larry treated us to breakfast Tuesday, at Rosa's Cafe.  It's always good.

I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker.  I love it.  No pre-freezing of the bowl...just throw your ingredients in and turn it on.  We are an ice cream lover family, and this machine made my life so much simpler.  Done in 60 minutes!
Found it on Amazon...

After the machine has worked its magic, put it in a bowl, pop the lid on and put in the freezer.  This was double chocolate...wonderful.

Larry grilled up some chicken thighs and made the best white cheddar macaroni!  Sloane was with us, and she ate every bite!

Sweet Sloane, playing with her "twins"...Lol...yes...she now carries both of her baby dolls everywhere.  They were getting their bath in the photo above...smile.

You can tell she feels so much better since the surgery...such a happy baby again.

My sister, Ruth Ann's procedure went well!   The surgeon found a small polyp and removed it...said it wasn't cancerous.  She now qualifies for re-attachment surgery!  She is so sick of the bag...brighter days are hopefully coming!

Had me fooled for a second! Lol

In all of this atrocious heat, (105-110F), I was watering the other morning when I spied blooms on my ornamental pear tree!!  Unbelievable!!  I was so happy to see them...I guess this species blooms in the Fall?  No clue.  But!!  Cooler temps are on the way!!  101F today but starting tomorrow, 96F for the high then it starts dipping down into the 80F's!!  We are so happy about that bit of news!
Well, I suppose that's it for me...nothing very entertaining but just one of those "get it done" weeks.
So, until next time...be safe, make good choices and...

Chicken, Market Day, and Hello...

Good morning, Friends...
Well, another week has flown by.  I think I blinked twice, and it was gone!  Yet again, we weren't all that busy.
Larry did some grilling (I really should get back out there and re-familiarize myself with the grill) of some really tasty chicken thighs.
My sister Ruth Ann goes in for her last chemo this coming Monday (17th).  A new plan will be discussed about needing more chemo or if she's totally done with that part of treatment.  There's also the plans for re-attaching her colon and doing away with the colostomy bag (hopefully!) to be discussed.  We have no idea at this point.  Just praying the cancer is gone (the oncologist says it is) and stays gone!

Chicken thighs

We decided we'd jump in the car and travel south to our favorite country meat market, Green's Sausage House.  Usually, at this time of the year, we'd see different crops in the fields...corn, maize, cotton, wheat.  But, to our surprise...there was nothing but corn in the fields!  Nothing...just miles and miles of...corn.  Anyone know why this is?  We don't...
Curious...

We finally make it to Green's.  SO many different choices....They constantly stay busy and we never venture to the market on a Saturday!  Too busy for us!

The back yard is starting to fill back in nicely...All that burnt up last season grass, is being taken over by the new grass seed Larry spread out, several months ago.  The roses I planted are growing great...new growth on them all.  They are a bit spindly...so I'll need to prune them back in February.  I'm not sure if I can do it sooner here in the South.

A while back, I decided I'd had enough of fluoride in my toothpaste.  You hear so many bad things about all the commercial toothpaste being caustic and full of cancer-causing fluoride.  Well, I decided to finally change products!   Instead of Crest I found (after a lot of research) a product called Hello.  Oh my goodness!  What a difference!  The taste of mint is very mild and pleasant...you get none of that tingly burning feeling (not a good thing!) in your mouth that those other paste give you!  And you don't get all that foam!  So messy...
I found Hello at Walmart.
I may be 71 but it's never too late!

Lol...

Our sweetpea, Sloane... (greatgran)

Sloaneygirl  and Gampa, having a heart-to-heart
 chat...lol

Larry and I laughed at this one...too true, for us! lol

Meatloaf for lunch yesterday.  Larry put Sweet Baby Ray's instead of catsup on top.  He put a bit too much on it, but I didn't say anything...hey!  If your man is cooking, you take one for the team!  I secretly did a little scraping without him noticing...and smiled... lolol
Hoping this finds you all happy and content.  So...until next time...

Sloane's Vacation...Tomatoes and Gadgets

Good Morning Friends!

My goodness, Spring has quickly turned into Summer!

Sloane and her mom and dad have enjoyed their vacation in Port Aransas, Texas.  They should already be home by the time I post this.  Looks like they ate a lot of seafood and played in a lot of sand and salt water...We missed them...

Miss Sloane (our great granddaughter)

Look-a-like clothes...lol

Always so happy...with mom and dad...

A little time-out with cousin Arlis...

Had to have a little swimming pool time...

Being chauffeured while out seeing the sights...lol

On the beach for the first time!

Pooped out...lol

It was Taco Tuesday!  Larry and I made it into town in time to enjoy one of our favorite meals.

These came off of my tomato plant.  It's already given me about 8, so far...and now these and, there's more on the plant!

Rosemary, Noah's Ark and Hibiscus

Here's the solar water feature (Amazon) Larry purchased for the bird bath.

Zucchini, Yellow squash, shrimp and tomatoes in a lemon cream sauce.

I saw this neat little gadget online somewhere, but I did a search for it and found it, yet again, on Amazon.  It chops strawberries, garlic, mushrooms...etc.  If it fits, it'll chop.  So if you have your board full of strawberries, let's say, you just push down over a strawberry, press quickly downward and then move on to the next one!  No emptying the chamber until it's full...Talk about a time saver!

Well, not much to report today...Hopefully, I didn't bore you too much.  Larry's feeling better...working back out in his workshop on more things for the wood fence...watering the foundation (Texas heat will dry out the soil around your house so we water it.  Not one crack in our's yet and have been doing this since we moved in 48 years ago.)  Most of the houses on this block have had some sort of foundation repair!  When visiting with the neighbors, we'd try to tell them how to keep cracks from happening but...they know best...not going to happen to them...okay...lol

Here's hoping you had a good week, were good to each other and enjoyed some "down" time.

So, as Sloane is saying...bye bye for now...until next time,

Father's Day, Ladybugs...Miracle Grow Recipe...Oreo Cookies

Good Morning, Friends
It's really been an uneventful week.  Our daughter, Crystal and hubby, Tim came for a Father's Day visit.  We love seeing them...makes us feel like we're in the land of the living, lol.  If you're over 70 you'll understand the feeling.  We know it's natural for the kids to have their own lives but that doesn't make it any easier...we just miss the old days...busy days of tons of laundry, cooking for six or ten instead of two... I know, you say, get a hobby...I say, how many more can we get to wipe the memory of a happier time in our lives?  It's okay though.  They all are everything we'd ever hoped for.  Bright, independent, hard workers and happy.  It's their time in the Sun...we've had ours.   I'm just grateful to God that both Larry and I have been allowed to live to see our children fly...so many never do.

Daughter Crystal and Daddy Larry.

Crystal is now called Lolli with her own grandchild, Sloane.

Tim (aka Pops)

Larry really enjoyed his Father's Day lounging with the kids.

And lounging some more...lol

Ladybugs...I purchased about 300 through Amazon for about $11 dollars.  They arrived and late that night, I released them on the big tomato plant I have on the patio.  By morning's light, their numbers had dwindled to about 30.  I see one or two around the plants as I water.  Hope a few stick around!  They eat aphids and the bad boys of the garden.

They are actually a red color.  The lighting and my camera were fighting for dominance! lol

I made sugar cookies a while back...

PLEASE check your Spam setting!  I found 100 comments in mine!  A lot of them were actually spam but a lot of them weren't!!  I want to apologize to my Blogging Buddies for not checking sooner!  I corrected the problem and your comments, that you knew you'd left, are now published!

Here's our cheeky SloaneyGirl eating her first Oreo Cookie (at least in Gamma's house).

She loved it but needed a bath afterwards. Lol

Here's a recipe for Miracle Grow...Lots cheaper and it works!

Hahaa...so true.

Well, that's about it for me this week.  Hope you all enjoyed the Father's Day celebration with family.  Now onward to get the dust knocked off my Cricut machine... (Ann will be pleased ;o) open up the Youtube App and start learning how to use it...hobbies are like that, 'ya know.
So until next time...
