Father's Day, Ladybugs...Miracle Grow Recipe...Oreo Cookies

Good Morning, Friends
It's really been an uneventful week.  Our daughter, Crystal and hubby, Tim came for a Father's Day visit.  We love seeing them...makes us feel like we're in the land of the living, lol.  If you're over 70 you'll understand the feeling.  We know it's natural for the kids to have their own lives but that doesn't make it any easier...we just miss the old days...busy days of tons of laundry, cooking for six or ten instead of two... I know, you say, get a hobby...I say, how many more can we get to wipe the memory of a happier time in our lives?  It's okay though.  They all are everything we'd ever hoped for.  Bright, independent, hard workers and happy.  It's their time in the Sun...we've had ours.   I'm just grateful to God that both Larry and I have been allowed to live to see our children fly...so many never do.

Daughter Crystal and Daddy Larry.

Crystal is now called Lolli with her own grandchild, Sloane.

Tim (aka Pops)

Larry really enjoyed his Father's Day lounging with the kids.

And lounging some more...lol

Ladybugs...I purchased about 300 through Amazon for about $11 dollars.  They arrived and late that night, I released them on the big tomato plant I have on the patio.  By morning's light, their numbers had dwindled to about 30.  I see one or two around the plants as I water.  Hope a few stick around!  They eat aphids and the bad boys of the garden.

They are actually a red color.  The lighting and my camera were fighting for dominance! lol

I made sugar cookies a while back...

PLEASE check your Spam setting!  I found 100 comments in mine!  A lot of them were actually spam but a lot of them weren't!!  I want to apologize to my Blogging Buddies for not checking sooner!  I corrected the problem and your comments, that you knew you'd left, are now published!

Here's our cheeky SloaneyGirl eating her first Oreo Cookie (at least in Gamma's house).

She loved it but needed a bath afterwards. Lol

Here's a recipe for Miracle Grow...Lots cheaper and it works!

Hahaa...so true.

Well, that's about it for me this week.  Hope you all enjoyed the Father's Day celebration with family.  Now onward to get the dust knocked off my Cricut machine... (Ann will be pleased ;o) open up the Youtube App and start learning how to use it...hobbies are like that, 'ya know.
So until next time...

Ok, I had to laugh at the little one on the phone to grandma. They seem to know more than we do about computer techy stuff haha. WHAT? 300 ladybugs! Not sure if you know this, but I LOVE the ladybug, and they are special to me. I hope some of them stick around your garden. That is a beautiful photo of Crystal and Dad. The black and whites are so nice looking. And the one of Sloane lounging on the chair is a treasure. Those sugar cookies look amazing! Yes, I've gotten more SPAM comments, and have been deleting them. Little Sloane is having the best time eating her first Oreo cookie. I still crave them to this day haha.

Always love your posts, Donna. Have a beautiful week.

I've often wondered if the ladybugs one can order actually stay in your yard or just take off. I hope they help your tomato plant. If not you can mix up a bit of dish soap and water in a spray bottle and zap them. (The aphids, not the ladybugs).

Glad you had the visits for father's day. I know what you mean about the kids having lives of their own and being busy. I wish I had more time with my kids.
I couldn't help laughing when I saw that picture of Sloane eating her oreo. She is just so darn cute.
I do that all the time with my spam folder. I forget to check it on a regular basis.

What a fun post. I know what you mean about the kids...I have 5. I live near one.. One is in Alaska, 2 in upstate NY and one in San Diego, so no getting together with them regularly. The one here has small children so that's why I'm here. When the one in Alaska starts having kiddos I don't know what I'll do.

The cookies look delicious. I don't bake any more..2 reasons: I'm lazier than I used to be and I would eat everything.

Nice to see family came for Father's Day.
Really like the little boy with hand over his eye, have seen that one before, always makes me laugh.
I always check my spam, each day and sometimes I find none, sometimes I find a few - one time I found over 400.

This is such a delightful post Donna. I am grinning from ear to ear at your family and Larry lounging with Sloane. Love it
It is hard when part of the family lives in a different state. Glad for phone calls but it just isn't the same.
Awww..Sloane and that Oreo cookie...too cute
Love Lee Trevino story and the info about the ladybugs. Hope a few will stick around for your tomato plant protection.
Off to WalMart now

So glad the kids came in for Father's Day. That's huge. It's been years since we've been together for Mother or Father's Day.
Thanks for sharing the Miracle Gro recipe. Much appreciated.

What a wonderful wonderful post! I could have written that first paragraph...except I don't write as well as you. We were at our granddaughter's wedding this weekend. Seems like just yesterday she was a little girl (grandma's pet) spending the weekend with us. Time flies. I love the black and white picture of your daughter and husband.

I understand looking backward and wishing for those busy days filled with children, piles of laundry, and constant activity... I still live in a home filled with action but I long for the days past. Who knew they would fly by so quickly? And yet there is so much for which to be thankful. Quite honestly, my days are still full of children and constant messes... How could I forget the daycare center that fills my days? ...but I miss my own little ones too, my home at the farm, and someone sleeping next to me at night. That darn cat never sleeps on my bed at night.

Good to know about the lady bugs. They're actually orange here.
Hmmm, I may have to order some.

Aww looks like a fantastic Father's Day with all of the family there! I hear you on the missing the old days. Sometimes it's everything I can do to focus on the present and the remaining time we have with our kids and grandkids! (Well, that was a depressing statement, wasn't it?) Like you said, it's their time in the sun now! Just blessed to have good, productive children and wonderful grandchildren! Love the pictures of that cutie Sloane! I'm going to try that miracle grow recipe too. XO

I’m intrigued by your release of ladybugs. I’m astounded that they are available on Amazon, but why not? You can get pretty much everything else there. I hope you will keep us posted as to whether they stick around and actually do some good. At the moment, I’m considering them.

I identify with that last picture!! It is not easy figuring out a smart TV!!!
Loved hearing about Father's Day weekend!

How lovely to have a little get-together for Father's Day, Donna. You can be really proud of your wonderful family, and they're a credit to you.
Ladybugs are brilliant to get on top of pesky aphids, aren't they?
I've had the same thing with the Spam folder. I've just got back from holiday and found one of yours in mine! xxx

Yes it gets lonely when they leave home. Mine live over a thousand kilometers away in Melbourne. I was so excited when our two girls flew here for a week as a birthday present for me. The best present ever.

I’m still chuckling about that Lee Trevino quote!!! It was nice catching up with you and agreeing with you on so many things. Our kids live busy, busy lives and so do the grands! It’s always nice to see happy Sloane. Sure hope Larry is feeling. Stay cool and well.

Hi Donna. Looks like a really great Father's Day at your house. So glad you could enjoy time with family. I will have to try that "miracle grow" recipe. I had no idea you could order Ladybugs from Amazon. I will have to keep that in mind. The pictures of Sloane are always adorable. Have a nice week. Sure hope that things cool down a bit down there in Texas. See you again soon!
