Parenting...Pie, Chicken and Comments.

Well, good morning, Friends...Just so you'll know, I've had to revert comments to monitor.  On my last post, some of you may have seen comments left by two individuals names Anonymous and Peaches.  They were sickening, nasty and vile.  As a Conservative, I've learned to take some abuse from the Far left, (Not Democrats) and at first, I was going to leave their comments up for all to see so that maybe more people would understand the sickness and depravity that has taken them over.  Sadly, or at least I thoughtfully decided they will never change as the comments continued...so I decided to monitor them...I also lost 3 followers because of my stance in politics.  It's sad that people can't have a say without being punished for their beliefs.  So be it...I'll live.

Anyway...on to happier news!!

We are going to be great Grandparents once again!! That makes two impending births in this coming year!  Sami in June and our Sara in March!  We are over the Moon happy!

Sami and Everett...and Sloane, big sister!

Little Stitch...I'm thinking, Girl...

Tylar and Sara...

We all enjoyed this show...so many years ago!

Our SIL Tim order this pie somewhere...and fell in love with it.  It's an Apple Crumble Caramel Pie.  Well, it's sold at a bakery about an hour from us.  I decided to make my copycat version of it.  Oh, my goodness!  It's delicious and so easy to make.  I just took a Marie Calendars, ready-made apple pie, homemade some crumble mixture...sprinkled it thickly on top of the pie, baked it...and when it had cooled, I squeezed a store-bought caramel sauce on top.  I should have made my own!  You couldn't really taste the caramel.  But the pie was really good anyway.  I'll be making it again for Thanksgiving with my homemade sauce.

Isn't this beautiful?  The powers that be, have done a rendition from the Shroud, of what they believe Christ may have looked like...to me, it's beautiful but I believe he had blue eyes and reddish hair...long story.  If you research the area that he lived in, you'll find the peoples were of this fair coloring...anyway, it's thought provoking.

It was time for fried chicken...

This is a sad, dividing plan...hopefully it's not true...

Larry brought me one of those Pecan Pie cookies and Libby was a bit upset that he didn't bring her one! lol... (yes, I gave her a nibble).

A surprise visit from William's new girlfriend, Cailin. Our daughter Crystal and Tim said they really like her...which is great news.

And finally, what's a post without our Sloane in it?  And Happy Veterans Day to all those that served and are serving!  Thank you all for your service!!

Well, I suppose that's about it for this week.  Hope you all enjoy a beautiful day...and are staying healthy or at least are healing.
So, until next time...

Quilting...Ironing, Storage and Family.

Good morning, friends...
I hadn't realized the days were passing by, so fast.  Well, let's see...I've been resting.  Just taking the time to re-group.  Larry has his appointment with his urologist on the 13th.  He'll let us know where we go from there.  (bladder cancer, but they got it all).
Ruth Ann, seems to be doing okay.  I'm still staying out of the drama and that's helping me, hugely.
I can't take fussing...in the meantime, I've been working on setting up a sewing/quilting/embroidery room, in our guest bedroom.  I bought a Baby Lock Aurora sewing machine a few weeks ago and am just now trying to get organized.  Larry bought me a design board ($40 at Lowes...)  It's a 7ft by 48 inches-W styrofoam board.  I just lean it up against the closet doors, hung the cheap flannel lined table cloth on it, flannel side out... and bob's your uncle!  Works great...and not for $150 and up!  I got the tablecloth at Dollar General, $3.50...instant grid lines.

When not in use or company comes, just store it under the bed.

My tester block...It's ugly but it just helps me get the sewing machine up to snuff... and is helping me remember what it feels like to sew, again.  It's been years!

Ironing station...It's on my grandmother's old drop-leaf kitchen table. Circa, early 1900's.

Found this cordless iron on Amazon...Love it !!!

Command Center...lolol

My sewing machine...sews and embroidery.

I need to figure out more storage options.  This room wasn't intended to be anything else, but a bedroom.

Remember the mini's?

I made black-eyed peas and cornbread...

Samantha and Sloane and Everett...Love their new family photo.

Sloane, through and through!  Lol

So true...

This is too! Lolol

Well, I guess I'll let you get on with your day.
Thank you for stopping in to check on me...Hope you have a happy and peaceful weekend!  So, until next time...

Nutrition = Enchiladas?

Good morning, friends.  Hope you are doing well...no sickness or troubles.  I know that may not be the case but know that God's Got This, and there's nothing He can't handle.
This is the way Ruth Ann, Laura and I, need to look at things.  Ruth Ann and I had another little argument yesterday...The insurance is giving her the run-around about going into a rehab for strength building and nutrition...I told her enchiladas didn't qualify as a nutritious meal...I think that started her engine...so when I asked her if she'd been using her treadmill for strength building in her legs, she blew up.  Yes, I'm a nurse...but no, I've never worked in phycology and very little in geriatrics.  I was in OB/GYN for years. I don't want her to get upset but then again, maybe a little "charge" once in a while might help motivate her?  I don't know...If any of you have any ideas, they'd be much appreciated.  I also know that it's hard to give advice when you're not in a situation so don't worry about it...we'll get things worked out.

Ruth Ann in younger days...helping now ex hubby work on his Porche.

This is how Laura, Ruth Ann and me, feel these days...lol

I made time to bake some banana bread.  Turned out really good...served hot with butter.

Breakfast...

Sam took our Sloane to her cousin's One Year birthday party the other day...Lolol...Sloane is at that "aware and reactive" stage.  Arlis (baby cousin) tried pinching Sloane...so she reacted by trying to grab his arm, rather aggressively, letting him know she wasn't putting up with any rough play. Lol...good girl!

Lordy, she has us wrapped around her little finger.

I was cleaning out my closet over the weekend when I came across my mother's, now vintage Squash Blossom jewelry.  A choker, necklace...rings.  She passed away in '96...you'd think I'd have already stowed things away...  All are now safely put away into our floor safe.

This is my grandfather...(mom's Dad)  He was 1/2 Cherokee Indian.  As a little girl, I remember him and my great grandmother coming for a visit.  Full blooded Cherokee...beautiful black braids and some of the native dress on.  Funny how a five year old can remember these things...

Here's a good rice pudding recipe, if you are so inclined...

And our lovely Samantha and hubby, Everett.  Excellent parents of our SloaneyGirl.
Hope you enjoy a beautiful day...until next time...

Finding some Mojo...

I'm really trying to find my mojo...I keep telling myself to just get Up!  Move...I find this time, to be harder than ever.  I asked Larry to take me over to Heritage Homestead for a coffee...they make a really good cappuccino so that's what I ordered.  We sat down by a window and just enjoyed the country scenery.  While we were out, I received a call from our next door  neighbor asking if I could come over and sit with his wife while he ran to town to get the car worked on.  No problem...I do this on occasion when he needs a break.  Gweny has Alzheimer's...and she seems to be getting worse every time I sit with her.  We've been friends for 48 years...this is so hard, watching her leave us, quietly...fading away.

Well, I'll get on with the day instead of making you sad...Have a sweet day.  Coming to check on you.

Gas was $3.49 at this one 7 Eleven!  Larry filled up.

Our daughter Crystal and SIL Tim waiting to fly back to Houston from visiting our grandson Tylar, on TDY (Air Force) from Hungary.
