Sloane Reasoning with Mommy...Spring?

 Good morning, Friends!
The weather here has been so warm lately!  I was looking around the back yard and have found so many things starting to grow!  I worry about another freeze rolling through before Spring officially springs.
I haven't much news to share...I've been busy getting a quilt top finished for friend, Laura.  It's now finished.

My Wandering Jew is popping back up!  Love the color...

I'm trying to envision exactly how to create one of these...Have you ever done something like this for your garden?

Mother-in law tongue is taking off!  I do very little to keep it going...lol
My green thumb is actually a little gray...

A new project...this time, for me!  A quilt.  Haven't decided on a block pattern yet.

So precious... Sloane has the answer to life making sure Mommy is listening!
"Take a deep Breaff!"
Lolol

Pork ribs and corn...

A Cherry 4-Ingredient Cobbler... Really good and easy!

Frito Pie...

Well, that's about it for me this week.  Headed out to go touch some grass...lol...I just took the last sip of my cold coffee and got a mouthful of grounds...sigh...
Hope you all are well and safe.
So, until next time...

Cats...Cake, Shrimp and Steak

Good morning, Friends...The temps have been better but I think they'll be on the rise next week, again...90's again...Ugg

Larry goes in for his 6 month Cysto wash on Monday for the bladder cancer.  No signs of a reoccurrence of any cancer cells and that's a good thing!

Miss Kitty (our feral cat) perched up high on the old dead tree stump, surveying her kingdom...lol.  She's under and over all sorts of places, as you can see by the bits of web in her fur...but we're just happy she now comes in the house whenever she wishes by the dog door...and she's lately, started sleeping on our bed at night!!  I know it's a silly thing to be excited over but at least she'll hopefully be warm this Winter!  I'm letting a little more time go by before we take her into the Vet's office for an exam and some injections.  Maybe they can tell us how old she might be...

I threw together a pound cake...vanilla.

I remember my Mom and her switch...lol...We were really good when she threatened to use it!   lol   Today's kids have no idea...I never used one, but I think just the thought of it makes a kid use his or her brain...to make good choices.  This was old school...

I got busy on the quilting...really need to get it finished!

Then I made Shrimp Fettuccini...Goodness, it was good!

I did some experimenting with using Ramen Noodle Soup...You know, the food that gets most college kids through school on the cheap?  Lol
In a separate sauté pan, I lightly browned onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and cut chicken sandwich meat into strips, then fried.  Goodness!!  It was a hit!  Larry and I both loved it, and I will be making this again!

I was in a hurry to get back to my sewing, so I threw these steaks into my cast iron pan to cook.  I know...sacrilege...but I know if I tarry too long, I'll lose my momentum.  I've wasted too much time as it is.

Added green beans...

Along with some lemon pepper shrimp.

Then a little cinnamon roll baked in my air fryer...oh, that was good!

And can't have a post without our little Sloane...She had ear surgery again!  New tubes...sweet baby girl!

Ann sent another lovely card!!  How she comes up with all her ideas, I have no idea, but her work is so pretty!  Thank you, Miss Ann!!

Well, that's about it for me this week.  We don't have much planned for next week except Larry's treatment.  Our grandkids (Ty & Sara stationed in Hungary, are coming to Tim & Crystal's (Outside of Houston) on the 18th I believe...Larry and I will travel down to see them on the 22nd.  Can't wait to see them!
So, until next time...Hope you all are well and happy and safe...

A Diaper...Stuff, Cake and Quilts...

Good Morning, Friends...Hope you all are doing well and are having a wonderful weekend!

Had a sweet visit from our girls last night.  Mom Samantha,  Sloaneygirl and...

Grandma Lolli...

Sloane loves to read...

As we age, life tends to speak to you...sometimes, loudly.  I've had this "feeling" several times throughout my married life.  Stuff...it accumulates faster than you can say pie.
The living room shelves are full...things from my Mother, grandmother...great grandmother.  Books, figurines, two punchbowls, dishes, and on and on.

Until last evening when the girls came for a visit, I thought I was going to have to put a lot of my "stuff" up for sale or donation.  If anything were to happen to me or Larry, daughter Crystal would have a daunting job ahead of her just to clear the house out.  Furniture is one thing but...the "stuff" hidden in closets...cupboards and the storage shed would be so hard for her and her hubby Tim, to deal with from almost three hours away.
Last night, talking to Crystal (daughter) and Samantha, (granddaughter), we somehow got on the subject of "stuff".  I was thrilled to find out that Samantha's taste has transformed from minimalism to traditionalism.  I'm over the moon!  Traditional has always been my form of expression where our home was concerned.  I love antiques.  The rocker in the above photo was my Dad's when he was five.  Now I know these things won't just be donated or hauled to the dump.  Sam was over the moon knowing she was welcomed to take what she wanted.  I also let the girls go through my jewelry...best they both agreed on what pieces they wanted, beforehand.  Macabre?  No, I don't think so...What they each wanted and their reasons behind it were truly heartwarming.  Like Larry's and my wedding bands from when we were first married.  Simple gold bands that had seen better days since that sunshiny September day in 1972.  Crystal had always said she wanted them... I told her to take them with her last night...It was a special moment between us.
I love our babies...and I know how much they love us.
I also know, doing a deep clearing of "stuff" isn't for everyone.  It's a hard thing sometimes, to do.  But for whatever reason, I'm finding it to be uplifting and freeing.  All I do when trying to decide on whether to throw, donate, keep for us or keep for the children, is remember how so very much easier it will be for Crystal, when the time comes...and it will.   I'm a pragmatist.

I made a lemon cake...so refreshing!

Then I got busy finishing up on my quilt top.  You know, if you've started any project, how hard it is to get back in the mood to start on it again after an interruption, like my surgery.  But I forced myself to get back to it! lol

Do Not look too closely at all the mistakes...I'm just happy I've gotten this far! lol  I think I was too ambitious for my first project!  Next time instead of a twin, I'll practice on a baby blanket or placemats!

This will be the backing...

Larry was also putzing around with this cute cutting board idea on his newest laser.  I'm already using it.

Then he brought this project into the house!  It'll be so pretty when it's done!

Okay friends...Lol...What does this meme say to you??  Leave your answer in the comments...

Well, I need to get back to some more of that decluttering of "stuff".  I hope you have a fun weekend and are warm or cool wherever you may be!
So, until next time...

Illness, Cake and Candy...

Good morning!  Not a whole lot to report here...Ruth Ann (my sister with colon cancer) will be heading into her third chemo treatment on Monday.  She's not experiencing illness yet.  Hopefully, she won't...time is just barely crawling by for me lately...
Our sweet Sloane was sick Thursday and couldn't attend daycare, so I got to keep her.  I got her temp down and the rest of the day for her was spent drinking her bottle and napping.  You know I wanted her to feel better, but it was wonderful holding her while she slept...She is feeling better today.
I've been trying to lose some weight (20lbs) for over a month!  I'll lose a few pounds then gain half of it back!!  Then, Larry wants something sweet made... (he can lose weight just by rolling over in bed...)  and of course, I have to taste test!  Vicious circle.  I'm also not walking enough...How do you stay in shape?
Hope you are enjoying a happy and peaceful weekend!

Sloane...

SO TRUE!!

BECAUSE OF THIS...lol
Texas Sheet Cake that I made yesterday.

I have some plants I need to put outside but sure enough...if I do, we will get slammed again with cold weather.  There's always one last cold snap here before Easter.

Larry and I have agreed on the name Candy for our newest member of the family.  I did like Lucy and Lemon...who knows, maybe I'll change it to Lemon before she finally arrives?!  I'm awful with naming our furrbabies!

Our sick Sloane (greatgrandaughter) 6 months old now.

AND yes, I made Cherry Ice Cream...bad Donna!
I ONLY had one spoonful...ok, maybe two...lolol

Can you believe some of these???  I feel so old!  I'll be 72 in August...and I remember all, except Pearl Harbor.  My Dad was there...and I remember his stories.  And maybe not the beginnings of the Corvette...but I got to ride in one with my old boyfriend...a 1964 model...blue.  They rode hard!  I wouldn't have one...but back then, we had fun.
Okay, I'll quit rambling...
Have a great weekend!
