Birthday...Family and Food

Good morning Friends... Hope you all are doing great and are safe and happy!
Well, yesterday I turned 74.  It was a fun day spent with Larry and our girls... Hubby grilled a tri-tip roast...and cheese sausage.  we ate sandwiches (on LoCarb sandwich bread) The meal was so good!  And lots of laughing and chasing little Sloane who will have her 3rd birthday on the 15th and getting cuddles with Lottie.
We went shopping for Sloanes party favors and Lottie's formula... all in all, a blessed day spent with loved ones.

Most people get flowers or candy or a meal out for their birthday...not me! lol...I got a new gas stove.  Really needed one.  The old one was a Jenn Aire and worked great for years.  But it new needs a serious rest.  Pilot lights work off and on...the enamel has worn down from many cleanings... and the two ovens are two too many for us these days.  I went with a gas, 30", single oven, self-clean, simple model, Whirlpool. Along with a matching microwave that serves as the ventahood. Gets delivered Monday.  Can't wait.

Then I asked Larry to make me some wooden forms so I could wrap my fabric... Makes it so much neater!

We ate out after church...enjoyed the Chinese buffet!

Larry made chicken breast, green beans with cream gravy... seriously good.

I made fried chicken thighs with a sweet potato in the airfryer.

Anyway...that's about it for me this week...
Hope you all are in good health or doing some great healing!
So... until next time ...

Singing in the Dress... Slides, Food and Church

Good morning, Friends...
I've been a little busy lately, cleaning things out.  I think it's that video I watcched about Swedish Death Cleaning on YouTube.  It really gets you to thinking!  I have a lot of uninteresting...stuff.  At least to the people in my life that matter.  If me or Larry pop off to another existence, I don't want to leave her a mess to deal with!  Losing your parents is hard enough without having to come in behind them and have to do a mass cleaning!!
Other than cleaning things out, I haven't really been doing a whole lot.  Went to visit Samantha and our new little Lottie...Sloane was there as well...she's always fun.  I had bought her a new play-dress...she performs for you, below in the video...lol

We were in Walmart the other day...Okay!  I couldn't help myself! lol,  Sloane needs TWO play dresses!  Well, she Does! lol... I'm the typical Greatgran...she loved it, by the way.

The cleaning of Larry's deceased Dad is something else...I found their slide stash...goodness.  It's taken me days to get them loaded onto the computer!  I had to buy a special slide converter from Amazon to transfer them.  I did a lot of weeding out, as well!!  A tree?  A bird?  The ocean??  The backs of people we don't know?  Their trips to China?  Australia? Russia?  Finland?  The islands?  They traveled a lot...On and on...well, most of them are now in the trash.  A vase?  A chicken?  Oh well...they meant something to them...All I saved were family shots...Larry in Vietnam etc....1970-the late 80's. Oddly, there weren't very many physical photos.  Oh well...I have a special scanner with software coming for photos.  Should be here tomorrow.  They might not have had lots of physical photos, but I do!  Going to be uploading photos in between cutting fabric for a new quilt.

Here's me holding onto our daughter, Crystal, 11.  She is so sweet and special...she never changed.

Big Sister Sloane with our little Lottie Lynn...
My heart!

A Mexican restaurant...good food but forgot the name! lol

I made Tomato and Eggs...always good.

We live in Texas!  Gotta' go to the Dairy Queen!

Air Fryer chicken...

Ate Chinese at The Summer Palace...always good.

Thin crust pizza...pretty good.

And yes...we went to church Sunday!  It always feels good...you can close your mind off to everything but God...and be grateful...and the coffee and donuts are always good...Just Saying! lolol
Well...I'll stop bending your ears...eyes...for now.
Hoping you all are well and safe and not worrying about Iran.  God has this!  All WE need is faith...in Him.
Until next time guys...

Flu...Fires, and Food

Good morning, friends...oh my goodness!  It's been a long while since I've been able to post.  Larry and I both have had a good case of the flu.  I took a covid test but, it was negative.  I think that was a good thing though... Started out with a headache and really lethargic...then, waking up with a sore throat...some low-grade fever and then finally, a cough.  Averaged being sick...about two weeks.  We both are now better but with a lingering cough.  But nothing like it was.  I think we're going to make it.

Praying for those poor people in California!  Texas is helping as are other states and I believe Canada is, as well... I hope those Angels can put those fires out soon!  16 are now dead...heartbreaking!!  I also pray that there's a thorough investigation into where all the funds have gone to and why!  DEI before funding the Fire Departments and Police???  I don't think so...
190,000 people displaced now, and that number is steadily growing.
God help them...

I hope this is true!

We went out to eat breakfast sometime before we became ill.  The price was really reasonable, as you can see in the next photo.

I had made a 10" hot pad...was cruising along crocheting the edges...the last row simply slipped off the loom...and I tried everything to get the loops back on to the frame!!!  So, I hooked together what I could and will worry about redoing it later...I was heartsick!  So much work!  Larry gave me a good idea though...I'll try looping a rubber band onto the ends so it can't pull off the frame.  We'll see if it works...soon...I'm not ready to pull it all out yet...sigh.

Someone explain how this is fair.  This is a photo of some women from the 1970's... then now.  I know our bodies are preparing for "the final event" but...lol
I'm still fighting it...although, since I've been ill, I put back on at least 5 pounds!  Need to get back to my walking!

And what's a post without Sloane?  Her cousin Arlis is all boy! lol

Well, I made this one a little shorter.  I've got things to catch up on and sitting in front of the computer won't get it done.
Praying you all are well and safe!  So, until next time...

William...Salmon, Lucy, and Crones.

Good morning, Friends...
We got the good news that our grandson, William, passed his Staff Sergeant exam!  He's been promoted.  We are so proud of him!  Such a hard worker...He loves Arkansas, and he loves his job...we are so happy for him!!

Salmon done in the air fryer...goodness!!  I just made a simple gravy
of soy sauce and honey...added some garlic powder and poppy seeds, then cooked.
Delicious!

My next project was making, Lunchroom Pizza...Don't mind the oven...It's too hot here to turn on the cleaning cycle....I'll do it when it's a bit cooler...anyway, I mixed the dough then put it in this Pyrex bowl to proof...Lolol...something told me to check on it a half hour early...so glad I did!  I felt like Lucille Ball in the skit with the bread!  It was huge!  Anyway, I got it punched down and placed on the 13 x 18 sheet pan...it kept growing!  The recipe said to use 2 Tablespoons of yeast...I'll be cutting that back! lol

As you can tell, there's a lot of dough. But it was good...brought back a few memories of enjoying pizza as a kid in school.  The lunchroom ladies sure are missed!  Today's lunchroom just isn't the same...
There was too much to eat so I cut the rest of the pie up and froze it.

Two pieces was more than enough!  I only made it through one and a half! lol

The 9th of August was my birthday...I'm an old Crone...Larry took me to my favorite seafood place, Tejun's.  Love their food...and the Christian atmosphere.  Christian music playing...none of that horrible riprapp garbage, filling up the place!  The corn was slathered in a butter sauce, (TIP ) thickened with a tiny bit of cornstarch.  That's why it stays on the cob so well.
I'm surprisingly alright with turning 73...It gets easier as the years go by...unbelievable, as that might seem.

Photos of Sloane for her 2nd birthday...She'll turn 2 on the 15th of August...We are both Leo's.  Momma Sam is throwing her party on Saturday the 17th so everyone can come. I can't believe it's already been two years!

This is SO her! Lolol

A birthday bouquet from our grandson Tylar and wife Sara, who are stationed in Hungary (Air Force).  I call them our HungarianBabies...lol

We really miss them, but they are due for some time off and will be here sometime in September! Can't wait...

Miss Kitty has now learned how to use the doggy door!!  She lets herself in and out whenever she pleases.  I'm so grateful that she hopefully won't be staying outside when Winter arrives.

This spooked me out!  There weren't any cars parked on the road...and none of the neighbors have lights on their mailboxes...That orb looking light was underneath our pecan tree!

I bought 6 pounds of potatoes yesterday, then came home, sliced them all up...cooked until almost tender...then let cool off on a large cookie sheet then bagged them up with my vacuum food sealer.  It's for the big jobs.
Also bought clear storage trays for the freezer.  I have GOT to get that thing organized before Winter!

Thank you, Ann! This arrived on my birthday!  I'm so lucky to have such sweet blogging friends!!

Well, I guess that's about it for me...Hope you all are safe and happy wherever you are.  Have a wonderful week!
  So, until next time...
