Estates and TV Dinners

Good morning Friends...

I can't say it's been an exciting week... except that our new neighbor called for an ambulance.  Something happened to either his girlfriend or wife...we are unsure of their relationship, and we think it was the woman that had a problem.  We don't know them so felt best to stay out of the way.  It's now been 5 or 6 days...we've heard nothing.  All we can do (we don't even know their names) is pray.

We then had a new metal roof installed on our work building...A leak started in the back corner of the building, so we just replaced the whole roof. It was long overdue.

In other news...

Larry finished the wooden case for his Dad's flag that was presented to Larry at the funeral.  He gifted it to our nephew Kurtis.   

We try to make a date every Sunday, after church, to find a good place to eat.  The Summer Palace is one place we enjoy.  Their egg drop soup is delicious.

Then, I got the idea to make my own egg rolls...They turned out really good!  I used an Asian salad kit for the veggies...small shrimp...soy sauce...brown sugar...garlic powder...then fried them.

English muffins in the toaster...Mascarpone cheese...hot pepper jelly and hot coffee, for breakfast!

We went to the grocery yesterday and saw these TV dinners!  It's been absolutely years since we'd though of trying any.  I got this chicken dinner and Larry went totally off course and had Etouffee.

We remembered, as kids, them tasting so much better...these were poor offerings indeed.  I guess nothing remains the same. 

Well, so much for our week.  We still have more signing of papers on Larry's Dad's estate today.  Hopefully, this will allow us to put another piece of the puzzle, to bed.  We still have the house to sell.  The business's building has now been sold to a plumber that used to work for us.  We know it'll be in capable hands. Larry's Dad started the plumbing business back in 1954.  We're not selling the business as we still have a shop in a town south of Waco...just it's buildings here in Waco.    We no longer need two locations.

Tired...and The Pill.

 

Good morning, Friends...

Well, we got Dad buried this past Wednesday.  Larry says he's okay, but I believe he's a bit depressed.  It's only natural though.  He's had his Dad around for all of his 77 years.  Larry's younger brother isn't doing a whole lot better...but maybe just a bit.  I lost my Mother at 45 and my Dad at 51 so my experience was different from Larry's.  I just know what depression looks like and hopefully, we will work through it.  It will just take time.

We went to lunch at Rosa's, unintentionally running into Larry's brother Kenny, and sister-in-law, Debbie...after running errands preparing for Dad's funeral.  Great minds and all...

The elderly gentleman with the walker is hubby's and Kenny's Uncle Harvey...the last of the siblings.

Happier news...me and my side-kick, Sloane.  She makes our "air" breathable these days...we've had enough sadness to last us for a while.  The girls picked me up for some sweet time being together.

Our Samantha who's about to deliver our little Lottie Lynn in the next few weeks.  If she hasn't delivered by June 11th...they will induce labor but...I think she'll deliver before that.

Finally managed to get our little Sydney's quilt top finished and it's now ready for the longarm lady, Sherrie.  I'll take it later this afternoon...can't wait to get it back!

I also have been trying to work on our Sloane's quilt top.  It's going to take a longer while to finish.  I'm still trying to figure out a pattern I
 want for the quilt.  But I'll get there.

AND!!  I ran across this photo on a video I was watching about the year 1944 at Penn Station!  I Swear the guy on the right is my Dad!!  He and his best friend use to catch the train at Penn!  I'm trying to figure out how to get it clear!  

Stranger things have happened...like..."The Pill"  incident that happened to Larry and me the night of Dad's burial...

Proof that Larry really needed this... his mood already has improved today.  Thanks for reading to the end! lol

With all of our Love...

Finished! ...JoAnn and Dad

Good morning, Friends... Goodness!  It's March already!  I can't believe how fast time is rolling on by... 

And... I can't believe it myself...drumroll...I Finished It!!  My quilt is finished!  I had a spurt of crazy energy and figured I'd best get it done before all those sparking carbs totally disappeared.  (more cake is a bad girl thing but I cannot lie...I partook).

It took me 4 solid days which I'd spend the morning hours working.  I also decided to make a label for it.  It's a gift to our grandson, William who's in the Air Force.  I'm already planning my next quilt that will belong to great-granddaughter, Sloane.  I'll also make one for granddaughter Samantha...daughter Crystal and granddaughter, Sara.  Then there's grandbabies of Sam and Sara who are still "baking in the ovens".  Goodness!  At least they all won't be as large as my first one.  I don't have another large one in me right now.  I may change my mind but not right now.

 

Don't look too closely at the stitching!  It was a large quilt... I know I sewed "out of line" occasionally...lolol...but I got it done!  Poor William...getting Gamma's first quilt!

 

I quilted my lines every 2 1/2 inches...no matter what.  I know it isn't the best but, the squares were "off" at times...so I just kept going.

But it's done and I'm happy.

Truth right here!

JoAnn's Fabric is closing...dang it!  I stocked up on batting...there were 4 left !!  I just took the two so someone else had a chance to pick up some.  I also found some tracing paper so I can do some applique and some other things.

Our store says that around the first or middle of May...she'll be closing!  I'm not happy about it but I guess it's a sign of the times.  There is a quilt store south of us around 32 miles as the bird flies. They have gorgeous material but also, gorgeous prices.

Well, we finally got to see Larry's Dad at the rehab.  He's not helping himself at all...he doesn't get up by himself... and every time we visit, he's sleeping...and we have to wake him.  It's not a hopeful situation.  He wants to go home and have it the way it was before he became ill...probably won't happen if he's not willing to help himself!  He would have to have a full-time care person...he has the funds, hopefully enough to see him through... right now, he needs to be watched.  It's frustrating that we can't make him understand that he needs to push himself if he wants to improve.  He still has the UTI, they say, and a doctor is supposed to see him today.  We'll see what he says.
