Fifty-Three Years...and Everyone is Finally Home!

53 three years...feels like a blink of an eye! No computers, no cell phones, no high-speed trains...Vietnam, our song, "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress," "American Pie," The Stones, The Godfather...Bell bottoms, Pong, my team—the undefeated Miami Dolphins—lol...Watergate, Nixon in China, rotary phones. Hamburger Helper, TV dinners, casseroles, and Jello salads. McDonalds and Burger King, drive-in theaters, Leslie's Fried Chicken in Bellmead...Chatham's, the 1974 Ali vs. Foreman fight—now that was a fight!
Fifty-three years later, here we are with two kids, five grandkids, three great-grandkids—and each other. Still standing through sickness and health, so many bygone eras, countless memories. Friends and family we've lost, our lives winding down. Remember when I asked you all those years ago what you thought life would look like in 50 years? Well, now we know...
Forever devoted, I love you.

These flowers were given to me by my
Granddaughter in Law, Sara, when they arrived here last Saturday!  She said they were in appreciation for the quilt I'd made their newborn, Sydney.  She said the day it arrived she'd had an awful day.  But then Tylar walked in holding the package...she opened it and just cried!  I think she liked it...lolol  She and our grandson, Tylar, were the ones stationed in Hungary.  Tylar has now been stationed at an airbase in Arkansas!  Everyone made it to our house Saturday, and we had a ton of fun.

The quilt I made for GreatGran Sydney...

Lottie, Crystal and William...

Tim (Pops) and Sloane talking things over about her cowgirl hat...lol

This is a bookstore where William lives in Cabot, Arkansas.  What a fun place to visit!  I'd go broke!

While cleaning out Larry's Dad's house, we found these old trading cards!  Also, these old buttons.
They came in bread wrappers back in the 1930's here at a bakery in Waco.  A fun find!  If you bought so many loaves of bread, you could get into a movie at the local theater.

Would you believe that the door on my medicine cabinet fell off???  I couldn't!  I just went to open the right side, like always, and down it came!  Didn't break, thank God!  But Larry couldn't fix it.  The hinge was twisted.

So I ordered a new one.  Why is it that everything that comes from stores these days, you have to end up putting things together?!  What a pain!  Larry is always so sweet about it though...We're going to our Anniversary breakfast then to a huge warehouse mall, full of antiques, this morning.  Should be fun.

Breakfast last week at The Yolk in town...really good.

I made a pumpkin pie for our Saturday dessert...I put crumbles on top.  Loved it!
Should have added a layer of sweetened cream cheese to it but didn't think about it until it was baked!

I reheated the leftover KFC chicken in the air fryer.  Crisped it right up!

If you have left over rice, add butter, Poblano pepper, onion and tomatoes (sautéed)...add a little chicken stock and heat up.  A wonderful lunch!

I also made Banana Pudding cookies for the girls.

Then yesterday's lunch was pork boneless ribs with a brown sugar and mustard glaze...oh my!

Well, I suppose that's about it for me this week.  I'm praying that you all are well and safe...Have a great and happy weekend!
So, until next time...

52 Years...Cookies, Boxes and Quesadillas'

Good morning, Friends... I don't think we've really done much of anything this past week.  We did celebrate our 52nd Anniversary though.  September 26th.  Lordy...we were so young!  Me 21, Larry 24.
I still remember laying on our sofa in our tiny apartment at The Villa Victoria in Waco, Texas...and asking him, "Where do you think we'll be in 50 years?"
He said, "Still in love..."
It's been a road well-traveled.  We've had our ups and downs, like everyone else but we're still here...still together...and, still in love.

Larry and Tom were best buds having met in the Air Force.

Tom's wife always seemed to be the picture taker! lol

But here she is (Beverly) today...Thank goodness we're all still around.  lol
Tom is now 80 and Bev is 78.

We went to the Cotton Patch for the anniversary lunch...we never tire of chicken fried steak.

Here's a recipe I want to try!  Have you ever made this?  Looks like a good recipe for Christmas.

Larry made me a potpourri box and

a Tuna can juice drainer!  Two different kinds...one that fits just inside the can and one that fits in the can and also, you can turn it over and drain liquids off the veggie cans.  He does these things on his 3-D Printer.  They worked like a charm!

I also made some vanilla cookies with pecans...

This is truly the state of affairs in our Congress!

My favorite photo of our Sloane...too funny.  She wore that box until it broke! lol

This morning, I made quesadillas...at least for Larry.  I had a locarb tortilla with cheese and egg.

Well guys, guess I'll stop boring you.  Here's praying you all are safe and well... (we just lost our neighbor of 50 years.  He was 87).  SO... stay well, see your doctors...drink that water... and love those close to you because you never know when our time is up.

So... on that positively, negative note...lolol... until next time...

October... Anniversary...Christmas and Mice

Good morning, Friends!

It seems like I was just here but the date of my last post, says otherwise! Not that I have any great news to report...

But it was our 51st anniversary on the 26th of September.  What did we do?  Ate lunch out at Tejun's Restaurant.  Buttered shrimp plates.  Really good!

Truth!

I've been trying to learn to do design on Inkscape....hard for me but at least I learned how to print my design from there.  Mostly, I use Canva.  Our daughter saw a photo of this design and wanted it for Sloane...I found photos of baby animals and added the Bible phrases with chapter and verse.

Sublimation on 100% cotton

No...your eyes aren't deceiving you...Lolol...and yes, that's a swimming pool you see in our living room.  Sloane is having a blast with it.

Sloane modeling the Dr Pepper carton...Very
chic !!!
If your player won't play it...just change web browsers.  My Internet Explorer won't play some videos but FireFox will, as will Chrome.

If you have unfriendly critters from outside looking for a cool or warm spot to nest in your home...you need to try this recipe!
Ratio of 1:1 each of Jiffy Honey muffin mix (any flavor will do as long as it's sweet).
Mice can't burp...so the baking soda, in essence, kills them...days after ingesting it.  It's not harmful to your pets (because they can burp)
It takes a few days or weeks to see results but it does work.
Cut a round hole in the front of each container so the critter can chow down.  About an inch round.  Put the lid back on and find a spot where you think they have a path.

2011,  I  think...

4 years ago...We've both lost weight.

Lol...

What??  A Christmas tree??  Where?? lolol
I still need to decorate it...and it's in our playroom/TV room/Laundry area.
I love Christmas and never use to put up a tree until after Thanksgiving but hey...we're not getting any younger!  And I like to celebrate as long as possible!

Our Sloane, modeling a Dr Pepper carton...see video above... lol
Well, that's about it for me.  Hope you all are at peace, well and happy.
So until next time...
