Parenting...Pie, Chicken and Comments.

Well, good morning, Friends...Just so you'll know, I've had to revert comments to monitor.  On my last post, some of you may have seen comments left by two individuals names Anonymous and Peaches.  They were sickening, nasty and vile.  As a Conservative, I've learned to take some abuse from the Far left, (Not Democrats) and at first, I was going to leave their comments up for all to see so that maybe more people would understand the sickness and depravity that has taken them over.  Sadly, or at least I thoughtfully decided they will never change as the comments continued...so I decided to monitor them...I also lost 3 followers because of my stance in politics.  It's sad that people can't have a say without being punished for their beliefs.  So be it...I'll live.

Anyway...on to happier news!!

We are going to be great Grandparents once again!! That makes two impending births in this coming year!  Sami in June and our Sara in March!  We are over the Moon happy!

Sami and Everett...and Sloane, big sister!

Little Stitch...I'm thinking, Girl...

Tylar and Sara...

We all enjoyed this show...so many years ago!

Our SIL Tim order this pie somewhere...and fell in love with it.  It's an Apple Crumble Caramel Pie.  Well, it's sold at a bakery about an hour from us.  I decided to make my copycat version of it.  Oh, my goodness!  It's delicious and so easy to make.  I just took a Marie Calendars, ready-made apple pie, homemade some crumble mixture...sprinkled it thickly on top of the pie, baked it...and when it had cooled, I squeezed a store-bought caramel sauce on top.  I should have made my own!  You couldn't really taste the caramel.  But the pie was really good anyway.  I'll be making it again for Thanksgiving with my homemade sauce.

Isn't this beautiful?  The powers that be, have done a rendition from the Shroud, of what they believe Christ may have looked like...to me, it's beautiful but I believe he had blue eyes and reddish hair...long story.  If you research the area that he lived in, you'll find the peoples were of this fair coloring...anyway, it's thought provoking.

It was time for fried chicken...

This is a sad, dividing plan...hopefully it's not true...

Larry brought me one of those Pecan Pie cookies and Libby was a bit upset that he didn't bring her one! lol... (yes, I gave her a nibble).

A surprise visit from William's new girlfriend, Cailin. Our daughter Crystal and Tim said they really like her...which is great news.

And finally, what's a post without our Sloane in it?  And Happy Veterans Day to all those that served and are serving!  Thank you all for your service!!

Well, I suppose that's about it for this week.  Hope you all enjoy a beautiful day...and are staying healthy or at least are healing.
So, until next time...

Strawberries...Cakes, New Life and Old Friends.

Good morning, friends...It's been almost 2 weeks since my last post!  We've been a little busy, as of late.  Goodness!  Almost all good things though.  Sunday, we went to our daughter Crystal and hubby's home, for a family gathering.  All of our kiddo's were in town at the same time!!  Hadn't happened in over 4 years!  Tylar and wife, Sara in from Hungary...William in from Arkansas...we were extremely blessed!  Also, Tylar and Sara had an announcement...!!!

I made a cake from a recipe I found on Patti's, Olla-Podrida blog.  We all loved it!  And I made a Vegan one!  (for our Sara)

Vegan

Regular cake

I had frosted them both but can't find the photo of the finished cake!!

On Thursday, we went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast...omgoodness, these were wonderful!  They had cheesecake filling tucked away inside of the pancakes!

We had plenty to eat...bar-b-que...mac & cheese...potato salad...ribs and sausage!  It was all sssooooo good!  But the best thing about it was the family all being together...

When Larry and I finally got our hugs out of the way and we all got settled on the sofa, I looked at Sara and said, "Well...Where's my greatgranBaby"?  Just teasing them like I always do...Sara looked at me funny like, and said, who told you??"  Lololol...I swear no one had and if daughter Crystal knew, she said nothing!  I just had been feeling "new baby" for the last day or so...We all had a good laugh, but Larry and I are SO happy about having another GreatGran in the family!!  And it's another Girl!

Expectant parents, Grandson Tylar and Sara.

Everyone was getting in the pool and Larry and I grabbed grandson William for a photo.  Gampa Larry made a funny face because William always hams it up during a camera shoot.

Now this is Caitlin (left) William's new girlfriend.  So pretty and works in some governmental department (forensics).  We don't know too much about her as of yet...and Will wasn't offering much information.  We'll find out more later on though...lol

We also found some time to get together with our old school buddies...A lot of years have passed since elementary and now.  Amazing we're all together, still!  Praying we stay that way!

I know this is probably a silly thing, but it really helps me stay on track with appointments or places I need to be.  I take 2 prescriptions and various supplements so...why not add little signs to those specific days right on my pill box?  I see it every morning...Works for me!
I cut post-it-Notes with my info on it then stick it to the day I need to take notice of...works and I'm not constantly pulling out calendars!

For lunch today I made chicken breast and green beans...

Then I received a JURY SUMMONS in the flippin' mail!  I'm SO sick of these things...It's like the courthouse has me on speed-dial!!  Well...long story short, I've been excused from duty...

I'm going to have to have surgery on my eye...October 9th.  Oh well...I'd rather have surgery than jury duty again!  They can't find enough decent people to uphold the law!  I've done my duty for over 52 years...I don't feel any remorse about missing one time!

And what's a post without Sloane? lolol
She had a blast in the pool. She loves her Pops.

Well, I suppose that's about it for now.  Hope you all have been behaving yourselves!  I'll be over to check up on you so...until next time...

Heros...Gravy, Germans and Cows...

Memorial Day...USA
God  Bless us all...a Day of Remembrance.
The above photo is of a Vietnam Veteran.  My Larry fought there from 1968 to 1969.  Useless war!  Over 58,000 of our young men and women perished so the government could become rich.  Gotta' have a war, you know!  Run those guns...Anyway, I still can't forget or forgive the peaceniks for mistreating the Heroes that returned from there.  Let's just say, Jane isn't welcomed here!
Now...

Good morning, Friends.  Just another week of, not much happening.  Although...that's probably a good thing.  Tornadoes have been busting out all over Texas lately.  And you're not really given much warning.  We just try to stay prepared.  Generator, battery powered lamps, kerosene lamps...matches...candles, etc.  It's been raining here an awful lot.  Really unusual for Texas!  We are the red hot state...not the tropical state.   You want fair winds, go to Florida.

I made eggrolls the other day.  They were so good!  We love Chinese food but it is getting really high at restaurants...dollar wise.  I'll be trying to find a good recipe for Korean fried chicken, as well.

Also made biscuits and gravy...

Larry's new project.  I love it!

I found this chart to be really interesting!  Maybe it can help you, as well.  I started taking magnesium several months ago and feel so much better.

Our grandson Tylar (R) with a crewmate at the base in Hungary.  We really miss him and Sara.  It's been almost 4 years since we've seen them. :o(

I got an order for a German Chocolate Cake from my granddaughter Samantha's friend, Chandice.  She was wanting to surprise her hubby for his birthday.   She said, "the gooier the better"! lol

You know Sloane has to be in my post somewhere...lol

I made Apple Pie Ice Cream...NO, not the above photo but, see the Ice Cream??  That!  That's what I made...lol...Recipe on my cooking blog if you want it.

Well...I suppose that's about it for me.
I pray you all are doing well and staying safe in this crazy weather.
So... until next time...
hugs

Getting To Know Me a Little More...

Good morning, friends!  It's still busy around here but thought I'd do an update.
We'd bought Ruth Ann (sister) a dishwasher.  Her old one hadn't worked in probably 25 years.  She needed one...so, adding to her money, we pitched in and got the purchase done through Best Buy.  Lordy, what a trip that was.  They now have to order your purchases...shipping containers are just sitting on the Pacific and Atlantic Coast... We had to wait 36 days for it and, getting the installation done was itself, a nightmare. But it's now in... thank You, Lord!

This is our oldest grandson, Tylar and his sweet bride, Sara.  It's her birthday Feb the 8th, they are stationed in Hungary...he's in the Air Force.

This is grandson number Two, William.  Air Force, stationed in Tucson, Arizona.  God, how we miss the boys.

This is our granddaughter, Samantha, Baby Sloane's mom...she's a stylist and does quite well for herself!

My Larry and I helped run the family business, (we are now retired, Larry's brother is now at the helm) a plumbing company, well known in our area...reputation, built on service.  I was working as an LVN but was needed at the family business so...off I went after 15 years of nursing.  Pipes, you know, are basically the same whether they are in the body or the ground.
We have tried to educate the public on what to call water heaters when ordering...Lolol...you say, I'm possibly needing a Water heater...not, a Hot water Heater!  That's redundant!  A water heater heats the water...thus, hot isn't needed in the description.  I was guilty of this being a newlywed...but was quickly schooled.  I don't know of a plumber anywhere that doesn't laugh about this.
How do you say it?

Our greatgran, Sloane

Our daughter, Crystal (Lolli) and her granddaughter, Sloane, yesterday.

Larry roasted coffee beans for us because we were nearly out...Fabulous flavor.

My sister Ruth Ann (76 this month) last Monday at the IHop...the day she felt great...and myself 71).
She spent the next few days "stoved up" in her shoulder and hand pulling herself up into the truck that's as tall as a Dooley (2 tires on each side of the rear.)  She's better now thank goodness because tomorrow, Monday, she gets her chemo port installed on her upper chest.

Our "sister" Laura, 55 (laughing with another customer who had just told a joke) ...married to Ruth's Ex...a huge help in our lives and no, there's no animosity between them...they both know the guy has issues....but she's
So giving...kind.

Well, this post was more or less a "get to know me" a little more, for my new friends.
Hope you all have a sweet week ahead!  Stay warm or cool wherever you are.

A Big Hug,
Donna
