Steak and Ham...Sewing and Soup.

Good morning, friends...

I hope all of my American friends enjoyed a fun and peaceful Thanksgiving.  We certainly did.

Now we're heading into the Christmas season!  Doesn't seem possible it's here already.

Remember I told you I was just going to leave our big tree out in storage because I felt it would be too heavy for Larry to deal with?  I ran out to check on my sister...was only gone for about an hour but...long enough for Larry to sneak out into the storage building and bring everything in!  It's only been barely a month since his surgeries...okay...I'll shut-up about it.  As he says in so many words, "you not the boss of me..." lol...we'll see...

We got a little tired of turkey and ham and opted for a steak for lunchtime.  It hit the spot.

Sam and Everett go to Everett's grandparent's home for holidays as well as coming here.  They usually take photos of all the kids.  These turned out so cute!  And tell me baby Sloane isn't a ham!  Lolol...she's such a good baby.

Our granddaughter Samantha's newest photo for her salon.  She's such a sweetheart...and a hard worker.  We are so very proud of her.

Great-granddaughter Sloane, playing with her cousin, Arlis.  Looks like there was a bit of a competition going on...lol

I've now got nine blocks made...takes a while.  I sew and watch quilting or Christmas videos on the computer...a nice quiet time.  Steady as she goes...

Larry made some potato soup.  We'll have it again soon!  Geez, it was wonderful!

I know parents that have done this...makes a bad situation, worse.  The children become resentful.

Our 13-year-old Buddy getting some warm blanket cuddles.

This is so true!  Sometimes, especially the older we are, it becomes such a challenge to push ourselves into doing even the easiest of chores.  But...If you can, Do!  I push the, "I don't 'wanna's", out the back door and, do it anyway...it's hard sometimes but, I always feel better afterwards.

Well, I guess that's it for me this week.  I pray you all are healthy and safe, wherever you may be.

Donuts...Babys, Corny Dogs and Cookies.

Good morning, friends...It's already November!
Hopefully, this week was better than the last one.  I went back out to my sister's...just to check on things.  She said she slid out of her recliner, while sleeping.  I just looked at her...(how does that even happen).  I just said okay, but who helped you back into your chair?  No one, she said, "I did it by myself!"
Well praise God!  She got mad then got determined.  She realized I meant what I'd said last time about being done.  We'll see where she goes with her new attitude. Hopefully somewhere constructive.

Sweet Sloane enjoying a donut at the baby shower Samantha (granddaughter and Mom) was throwing for her friend Cortny.  Lolli (my daughter Crystal, and Sloane's grandmother) was on duty keeping up with Miss Sloane...who was everywhere! lolol

Ghostbusters and The Scooby Doo Mobile!  Lolol

Sloanes first corny dog...lolol...absolutely loved it!

I actually had time to bake some chocolate chip, crasin and pecan cookies!

I bought fresh tomatoes the other day so Larry could make tomato soup.  It was wonderful!  He's feeling so much better!
Temperatures are supposed to hit 39 tonight and all day tomorrow in the mid 50's.  Winter...she's 'a coming.

I did splurge on some hamburger meat so I could make meatloaf.  Even had enough to make then freeze these muffin tin sized ones.  Now, if Larry is wanting some meatloaf, I already have some on the ready.  Just thaw and heat.
Well, I suppose that's it for me today.  Hope you all are well and safe...so until next time...

Bread...Soup and a Plan

Happy February
Things have been a bit quieter here lately.  We saw the colon surgeon Monday.  He has advised us that he doesn't want to do surgery on Ruth Ann...at present, on the tumor that was left behind on the ureter (carries urine from the kidneys to the bladder).
The urethra (carries urine away from the bladder and sends it to be expelled from the body).  I know, probably too much information but, we need to know how our bodies function.
All this information went straight over Ruth Ann's head...all she wanted to know was how much longer she'd have to wear the colostomy bag...give me strength...
(at least 6-8 months IF all goes as planned)
But!  She showed up to the appointment (Laura drove her) without her buggy!  Walked all on her own!  Hey!  That's a big deal around these parts!Lol
And...she had a sweet demeanor!  Of course, she started on Zoloft Saturday...Hey, I'll take anything that helps her depression.
So, we are waiting for a callback from the cancer specialist to set a date to have her port "installed".  Upper chest area.
Will let you know.

A roast I made in my Instant Pot...Wonderfully tender!  Ninety minutes under pressure...fantastic!

Sam and Sloane...love them SO much!

Loaded Potato Soup....it was Heaven!

I call this Blow Out Bread...lolol...I think I accidentally added too much yeast...I lost count...but it was yummy!  A sweet breakfast bread with added walnuts and crasins.

Laura, next to me and sister, Ruth Ann.  They didn't care if I posted them on my blog.  Laura is such a huge factor in our lives!  Remember?  She's Ruth Ann's Ex-husband's Wife...lol...and she's amazing.  An LVN like me, so we "get it" when the doctors talk to Ruth Ann about her condition, treatments, etc.
It's a waiting game now...the long journey is about to begin.

Sautéed onions I added to the bread below.  I added the onion too soon (at the beginning of machine kneading) instead of waiting until the second rise) because they disintegrated, but it was great, anyway.

Here is a toy box Larry (my husband) made for our SloaneyGirl!  Turned out precious!

And lastly...The Rep was most understanding!Lol

Until next time,
Hugs
