Steak and Ham...Sewing and Soup.

Good morning, friends...

I hope all of my American friends enjoyed a fun and peaceful Thanksgiving.  We certainly did.

Now we're heading into the Christmas season!  Doesn't seem possible it's here already.

Remember I told you I was just going to leave our big tree out in storage because I felt it would be too heavy for Larry to deal with?  I ran out to check on my sister...was only gone for about an hour but...long enough for Larry to sneak out into the storage building and bring everything in!  It's only been barely a month since his surgeries...okay...I'll shut-up about it.  As he says in so many words, "you not the boss of me..." lol...we'll see...

We got a little tired of turkey and ham and opted for a steak for lunchtime.  It hit the spot.

Sam and Everett go to Everett's grandparent's home for holidays as well as coming here.  They usually take photos of all the kids.  These turned out so cute!  And tell me baby Sloane isn't a ham!  Lolol...she's such a good baby.

Our granddaughter Samantha's newest photo for her salon.  She's such a sweetheart...and a hard worker.  We are so very proud of her.

Great-granddaughter Sloane, playing with her cousin, Arlis.  Looks like there was a bit of a competition going on...lol

I've now got nine blocks made...takes a while.  I sew and watch quilting or Christmas videos on the computer...a nice quiet time.  Steady as she goes...

Larry made some potato soup.  We'll have it again soon!  Geez, it was wonderful!

I know parents that have done this...makes a bad situation, worse.  The children become resentful.

Our 13-year-old Buddy getting some warm blanket cuddles.

This is so true!  Sometimes, especially the older we are, it becomes such a challenge to push ourselves into doing even the easiest of chores.  But...If you can, Do!  I push the, "I don't 'wanna's", out the back door and, do it anyway...it's hard sometimes but, I always feel better afterwards.

Well, I guess that's it for me this week.  I pray you all are healthy and safe, wherever you may be.

Made me smile at Larry and the Christmas tree. It’s hard to stay down for too long. Sweet photos of your family, true gifts for the season. Made me smile at the little ones playing and that shot of Samantha, she has gorgeous red hair on the wow factor, a beautiful lady to be sure. And what a sweety Buddy is, all cozy in his blanket. Your food looks really yummy and your quilting project is lovely. Thanks for the wise words and another great post.

Nice pictures! Sloane is just too cute, and Samantha is beautiful! I see you are going to have to be stern with Larry! XO
P.S I made that Pumpkin Crunch Cake for Thanksgiving, and it was a HUGE hit, plus Rich and my son-in-law have put in their requests for Christmas!

I have a husband who would do that too. I think both yours and mine just see a job that needs doing and get on with it. I don't think we could change them and they are happy doing what they do. We are so blessed with wonderful husbands.
Beautiful family photos. Your girls are beautiful. And Buddy is a sweetie too.
No sewing projects here yet but your blocks are looking great.
Enjoy this week x

Sloane is just too adorable for words. Love the pictures of her.
Typical man but I do love his "you're not the boss of me" response.
I'm feeling a bit guilty right now since I read about pushing yourself to do things you don't want to. I've been procrastinating today instead of going through all the Christmas decorations and putting out what I want out.

Donna, I think you and I have the same type of husbands... Dave can moan and groan about this ache and that and them I find him out doing some project that tends to wear him out but he is satisfied he can still do it.. (He's coming up on 82 years on January 1st ...)
So sometimes I just have to keep my mouth shut.
Love the photos of your precious family and that steak looks delicious.
Potato soup is one of my favorites. It reminds me of my friend Sandy when we were both about 6 years old. Her Mom always made potato soup and Sandy had a lisp. So she would say I want Suzan (me) to come over so we can have STHOOP WITH STHUZAN..If you say it with a lisp it sort of sounds that way. It got to be our family joke to say we wanted to have Sthoop with Sthuzan. I still think of that after all these many, many years.

Enjoyed the family pics, Sloane is such a sweetie! AND, I'm sure Arlis is too. Your bowl of potato soup looks so yummy, it's one of my favorite soups. I'm not a quilter but I do love to cross stitch while I'm sitting in front of the tv, very relaxing.

Hi Donna. You just can't leave Larry by himself!!! HaHa. The tree is absolutely beautiful. I think I must have at least a small tree..There's still time.
The steak looks so good and juicy. I'm ready for something besides ham and turkey.
Today I made a pot of old fashioned pinto beans. Will make a pan of cornbread and call it dinner.
Your grandbabies are so adorable and you capture such good pictures of them,
Love your quilting squares, how nice that you can multitask and sew and watch movies.
We love potato soup. Growing up it was a Friday Night supper with homemade bread.
Sending love and hugs and thanks for your inspiration!

The family photos are beautiful, good to be able to see them.
I'm sure your husband wanted to do that for you as long as he didn't hurt himself is the main things.
Take care.

Love your family pictures so beautiful!
I am glad you had a nice Thanksgiving.
You are doing very well with your patchwork, better than I did 😆
I am also doing crafts little art journals for my grandsons when they’ll be older.
Like you I sometimes I’m not too well when I start the day, but always keep going and keep busy and forget my health problems

Haaahaha if Sloane and Arlis are anything like our cousin groups, there will be screeching soon! Dagny and Rhett annoy one another; Ember and Rhett annoy one another; rinse and repeat, hahaha! But they also love one another very much. That potato soup looks a bit of all right! Larry is such an amazing cook and you all complement one another so perfectly, with your various stellar creative abilities! And you may not be the boss of him technically, but in reality ... well, you know. Hahaha! Merry Christmas, Donna! xoxo

I think I'll have Jos read your post, so that he can take a leaf out of Larry's book! He often needs a little push in the right direction, but he's a sweetie otherwise :-)
Oh my, isn't Samantha gorgeous? And so, of course, is her little girl!
I think I'm going to take Buddy's example and crawl under some blankets: it's getting rather cold here, and frost is forecasted for the next days! xxx

I usually make soup every week but this week I couldn't seem to settle on what kind to make. Larry's Potato Soup has given me inspiration. With fresh bread...Yum.

Your quilting project is coming along nicely. I love the blue. My sister used to also sew quilts, and I always thought it was a talent. Cute picture of Samantha, and the family pics turned out wonderful. Potato soup sounds delicious, especially in this cold weather we're having. Hello Buddy. You look so warm and cozy. ; )

Wishing you a wonderful December, Donna.

What a sweet thing for Larry to do. I have bought a larger Christmas tree for our apartment this year, we can both go bold and why not.

It's so much fun to look at the photos.
And it's so beautiful in Advent... the shine of the candles and poinsettias. I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Advent season.
Your blocks are absolutely fantastic...wonderful material.
I hope you enjoy sewing very much.

Steak sounds like a wonderful antidote to turkey. I ate turkey on Thanksgiving, then had leftovers for the following three days. I thought I would treat myself to Chinese delivery, and ended up getting food poisoning. I was sick as a dog for three days, and am finally back to feeling myself. A steak sounds pretty darned good.
