Birthdays...Chicken and Bananas...

Good morning, friends!

Time is passing so fast!  It's already been a week?   Larry still has his cough.  Although, under the assumption that if he doesn't  mind me, I'll be making him a doctors appointment!  Well, he finally took a Claritin (24hr) and the coughing has ceased...he still has a tiny cough, every so often, but nothing like it was yesterday!  I'm also making him use a Fluticasone nose spray called Aller-Nose. It's the generic spray you can buy at Sam's Club...four times a day...without fail...If I don't hear those "squirts", I'm picking up the phone!  I got the "side-eye" from him but a few minutes later, I heard the "squirts"! lol... He's hard-headed but usually listens to reason.

Samantha and family are on vacation for a week so that means, I didn't get to keep Sloane yesterday.  Hope they are resting and enjoying Aransas Pass (Texas coast).  I tried to use the day cleaning and grocery shopping.  Even got a load of sheets laundered and put away.

For You....

A Chocolate and Cherry Fudge cake with vanilla ice cream.

A Chocolate Chip Cookie Ice Cream sandwich.

Our Sloane, just hanging around with her Dad.

I hate the baby foods they sell in the stores these days!  Gross tasting!!  So, I made some pureed chicken for Sloane.  I'd bought a rotisserie chicken and deboned it.  Then, I put the white meat in my handy Ninja and blended it with a few tablespoons of broth...waaah-laaah!  Wonderful real chicken that taste like chicken and not some drain pipe fodder!  She loved it.  The Gerber brand?  I threw it in the trash!

Then I packaged it up in individual Ziploc baggies and froze what wasn't used.

I did the same with fresh bananas...although, I forgot to add lemon juice and when they thawed, they turned a dark, unappetising color.

Well, I really didn't have a lot to say today...between Larry coughing and a day without Sloane, it's been a rather boring week.  It doesn't help that that old Texas heat has finally landed!  101 to 107* degrees.  But rest assured, I'm out there every morning watering!  I refuse to lose what I've already planted!  I also have to take Libby and Buddy in for their nail clipping, this morning.  And no...we can't do Libby's nails...she's a pug...and a screamer if she even see's the clipper! lol  Best to take them both in...less stress and over in a few minutes.

Birthday Alert!
Buddy 13yrs old tomorrow along with our daughter, Crystal...50yrs old...!!!  She's our little love...We are so proud of her...6/28/73.

Libby the Pug...not her birthday, yet...lol

*Quick Up-Date on my sister and our Laura:
Ruth Ann's cancer has been seemingly, eradicated although the Oncologist wants her to finish out her last two chemo treatments (HipHipHooray!)
Laura hasn't given us an update about her melanoma...and we are trying not to pry.  Although, her and her family are going to Red River, New Mexico for a week...so...Ruth Ann and I are assuming she's doing alright?  No clue, really.  I'll let you know if we find out more.
All of your prayers are SO appreciated!

Well,  that's it for me...Hope you all are safe and having a peaceful week so, until next time...

I used to puree veggies for my babies way back when. The colors were always so much more vibrant than the store bought yuck. Nice that you are making that for Sloane!

Although I did give my kiddos some commercial baby food, I made most of it with a baby-food grinder. Each successive child got less commercial food until the last one or two got none.

That ice cream cookies sandwich looks yummy.

Happy Birthday to Crystal and Buddy, too! Sloan is so cute in her little hat! Stay cool my friend! It's been too cool here but the humidity is high so talk about being uncomfortable! Ugh! XO

Hope Larry continues to get better and that he continues to "mind" you (:0)
Prayers for Laura and Ruth Ann too.

Our daughter hated the Gerber baby food that we started making it ourselfs. It's funny thinking about it and all the faces she made. :) Glad your sister is doing a lot better. The chocolate and cherry cake looks delicious. Have a wonderful week, Donna.

Sorry I haven't been around - my husband has had heart trouble and has been in the hospital and I have had cataracts done so I took a vacation.
I do love your posts - they make me happy.
Your daughter has such blue eyes and Sloane is so cute - love the way you make food for her.
You had me at fudge cake - ice cream - and cherries.

I had to laugh. You've got one powerful threat going on there. At least it's working and Larry is doing what you tell him to.
Sloane is just so darn cute.
Happy Birthday to Crystal.

I'm glad to hear you got Larry to listen to your advice. I know from experience it takes a lot of effort to get husbands to do what's good for them!
Great idea on the baby food. I do agree the stuff they sell in those pots is pretty vile. Yuk!
Happy birthday to your lovely daughter. 50 is quite a milestone but still so young! xxx

That baby food looks AMAZING! What a great Mom you are!
I just read your comments and no one mentioned on the lovely flowers that you showed us so may I just say that I love flowers and those are gorgeous. Thank you!

Oh what beautiful flowers!!! Good to read that Larry’s cough has all but ceased. Coughs can be really debilitating and exhausting. Looks like you are taking care of him and I also have taken notes in case we get sick sometime down the road. He is a lucky man to have someone who is so attentive and who puts her foot down when needed ;) Happy Birthday to Crystal and Buddy. And I always smile when you share Sloane, she is so adorable! All those yummies, oh my! Libby and Buddy, so cute! Good news on Ruth Ann and prayers for her and Laura. Happy rest of the week to you Donna with hugs!

What good news about Ruth Ann!!! I have prayed for her but I could NOT remember whose sister she is - so THANK YOU!! When I wrote her name in my prayer journal I should have made a note of yours, too!

That is such good news about Ruth Ann! I hope Larry's cough continues to improve. I used to make baby food for my children too. I hope that Texas cools off a bit and that you have a good summer.

It's good if you can make your own baby food, using fresh ingredients.
I think Sloane looks very cute in her hat.

First: Thank you for the beautiful bouquet!

Then: Best wishes to all the ill members of your blessed family (and friends). I see, they go a good way!

And: Sloane is a sunshine! She is the gem of your blog every week!

And: Crystal is beautiful! Wow! Look her blue eyes and her clear smile!

At last: You are right to cook and prepare handmade food for Sloane! Baby-fast food really cannot content all the love, which should be in every spoon, she eats!

And really at last: Best friends dogs are a valuable heart in your family!

Hugs and blessings to all persons and animals I see here from Dori from the Bavarian Forest!

Your photos are of amazing quality, I just point and shoot with my phone camera. Sloane is so adorable. Stay cool in your heat wave. I am your newest follower, out here in California and invite you to come on over and follow me. I have a Texas connection, I co-authored two books with two Texas gals, for Abilene Christian University Press.

Oh how I wish I had been aware of homemade baby food when my kids were little. I was so dumb, I had no idea you could make their food! Ugh when I think of all the jarred food I gave them, I cringe. So it's wonderful that you are making all those healthy dishes for Sloane! I love it. Buddy is SO darling and Libby looks like she's shilling for a fish stick company, haahaha! I'm so glad Larry is feeling better. Love you girl! xoxo
