September, Rain, Ghouls and Chicken.

Good morning, Friends...

It's already September!  I believe most of us, here in the south are looking forward to cooler days and nights!  I know Larry and I are!

So, let's see...what did we do these past few days...well, I had an appointment with my eye surgeon for a check-up (7 mos post) on my left eye...I had a macular hole and had to have surgery.  Not Fun.  Monday, we kept tootsie-roll Sloane...well, actually, we kept Sloane and her babydoll...lol...she's all into babydolls now.

Tuesday, we had a coffee and cinnamon roll at our favorite cafe.  But didn't enjoy the roll so much this time!  Something very different about it!  Tasted more like a Grandes biscuit!  They were also a bit tough.  You can even tell something's off with it just by looking at the photo...

Coffee was good though...

We finally enjoyed a brief rain!!  First rain in about 6 weeks?  Too long, and certainly not enough to save my plants.  Everything looks awful.  I'm going out this morning to clean out all my pots and get ready for cold weather.  They (weather talking heads) say we're in for a colder than usual Winter...can't catch a break.

Larry's getting into holiday spirits, turning out a ghoul ...rather cute.  I tried to get a decent photo of it but they all came out with shadowing.
Then...

This is the brand I buy but, use any brand your store sells.

I whipped up some fried chicken.  The crust was 1/2 bag crushed pork skins with 2 TBSP flour and 3 TBSP cornstarch, mixed up in a bowl...with any seasonings you like...salt, pepper, etc..  Get a separate bowl with plain water.
Dip chicken pieces first in water than in pork rind mixture then fry.  LoCarb (well, lower than using just flour!)  and I never gain extra weight after indulging!

The meal was SO good!

Lolol...yes, I've had this happen!  But (dang it), I was too nice to say anything to the stylist...I just never go back.
Well, that's about it for me on this first day of September.  I hope you all are going to have a sweet and peaceful weekend!  So, until next time...make good choices and...

Oh my I once had a hairdresser disfigure me so badly that I was embarrassed for months. I cannot relive that ... I love Baken-Ets!!!! And not for nothing but that roll looks fine to me. It was cooler this morning and oh how I love September! Cause to rejoice, among all the other reasons. Happy happy happy! xoxo

I don't think we ever went 6 weeks without rain maybe 6 days. :) You can tell that dog does not like his head with something on it, he has that look. :) Have a wonderful weekend.

That fried chicken sure looks good. Have never heard of frying it with pork skins. Wow, Larry is getting pretty creative with his work. Glad you got some rain! It is raining here today also, and supposed to tomorrow. Oh, I know what you mean about going to your favorite cafe and the treat not being as good as it should be. Sloane is into dolls now, how cute is that? My granddaughters loved the stuffed animals. This is a cute picture of mom and Sloane. Oh, and I'm so sorry you had some surgery on your eye. I hope you heal nicely.

Wishing you good September days, Donna. Your posts always delight me. : )

I'm glad to hear the rain I sent you finally reached you ... LOL ... will try to send more!
Sloane is getting more gorgeous by the minute, and that roast chicken recipe does sound scrumptious! xxx

Awww, that little cutie just gets more precious with each passing day. Love her and her dollie.
I know how that is with an expected favorite not turning out that way. That happened with our favorite fritters at the donut shop not being cooked all the way through..not good at all when its all doughy and globby.
We are suppose to have a spritz of rain today ourselves. Call it momentary drizzle, but I am loving the delicious temperature of 67F at noon. I can't remember when we last had that cool temp. By Wednesday we will be back into the 90's though. I'm enjoying it while its here!
Have a great Labor Day weekend.

Yep, I've had those kinds of haircuts. More than once.
Glad you got rain. I read somewhere that we are supposed to have a very hard winter here. Of course they said that last winter and it wasn't all that bad.

Ha! I've had that happen at the hairdresser too.
Our little Sloane is looking so big!
Boo on a disappointing cinnamon roll.

What a fun post Donna. Sloane is such a doll. That fried chicken looked so yummy. Larry is quite the artist!

I've been in the mood for a good cinnamon roll. There is Good and not so good. Homemade ones the best.

Glad you got some rain. We had a little today, very little, but cooled things down.

Happy September...Fall is here!

It just happened to me at the hairdresser they chat and chat forgot me and my colour is awful and a all dark as I asked to have a lighter colour… did not say anything but never go back!
Sloane is growing up fast, looks more like a little girl than a ba by now.
Larry is anticipating Halloween !
Our garden is a mess after this horrible summer! We will soon plant the bulbs for Spring and hope it will be better, but I doubt it, we will see.

I wish it would cool down here in Florida. Usually, hurricanes will blow this nasty stuff out, not this time, sigh. Wishing you a beautiful weekend my friend, smiles.

Oh my goodness my dear daughter got a haircut like that the last time. Her heart was broke.

Sloane is so cute.
Hope you are feeling better with your eye.
We are dry and hot here in GA!

A bit of rain but not nearly enough....that's what we got too. After today the temperatures are supposed to be less hot....we'll see if that happens.
I should start cleaning out my pots too. Everything looks kind of tatty.
Have a great long weekend ( I believe you have Labor Day same as us).

A very pretty Happy September picture. Your eye surgery sounded painful and glad you have it behind you. Sweet photo of Sloane with her mommy. How cute she is into babydolls. That cinnamon roll looks delicious but I expect from the sound of it, that you could make yours much better. At least the coffee was good. Great to know you got some rain and hope you get more, just enough and not too much. Larry’s ghoul looked cool with that shadow. Yum on the pork rinds and your fried chicken meal looks delicious! The funny made me chuckle thanks. Yes I had that happen too. Happily this is going back a lot of years. Our son was about 17 months old and when I tried to go near him as he was in his daddy’s arms, he started screaming. I went from long straight hair to a short curly perm and he didn't recognize me. Never did that again, lol! Happy September to you too.

I'm finally catching up on your latest post, Donna. It’s always good to see Sloane, Chrystal and Samantha. All your good looks so tasty. You’re lucky to have had some rain; none here in my neck of the woods! Happy Labor Day weekend! 🇺🇸

Happy mild Septmber to you and your beloved! No longer ugly rain or sharp sun! Soft light and during the nights some healing drops of rain from heaven for the thrusty plants..

Sloane and her beautiful Mama: very dear!!

Larry already is celebrating Halloween :)

I can understand the feeling after the hair-styling! I know this also of me and of of my sister, she always was crying after the visit there..... Nice cartoon :)

Best wishes for your eye!

Larry feiert bereits Halloween :)

Ich kann das Gefühl nach dem Haarstyling verstehen! Das kenne ich auch von mir und meiner Schwester, sie hat nach dem Besuch dort immer geweint..... Schöner Cartoon :)

Alles Gute für dein Auge!

I have gotten my share of bad haircuts over the years. I have looked like a new army recruit, an onion, and an afghan hound. The beauty of hair is that it always grows back. :-)

That roll looks good to me but cinnamon rolls are one of my favorite indulgences! Look at that little cutie patootie Sloane! Already into baby dolls? So cute! I recently got my hair cut and kind of regret it now. Not that I blame the hairstylist, she did what I asked. Now I have to work with it a little more to get it to look nice instead of just pulling it back in a ponytail or bun! XO

Nothing worse than a bad hair cut. the first photo is a beauty. Hope your eye fully recovers.

I do the same thing, if I don't like it, I don't go back. It's hard to find a good hairdresser, the lady I've used for years retired this year and I'm still looking for someone else. {{sigh}} That chicken sounds/looks so good, if I was still cooking I might try it. Hard to cook when you're on oxygen - another {{sigh}}. Life goes on and it's still great! ☺♥

As if she isn't already so beautiful, little Sloane gets even more beautiful by the day.

Your fried chicken looks very inviting! :)

Take good care.

Your little Sloan is so adorable! One time I went to get my hair cut then went to my daughters house. My grandson, who was about 4 at the time, opened the door, and then slammed it in my face and went crying to his mother. He told that that something bad had happened to grandma!! Now, that was a bad haircut! Fun post! Barb

Glad to hear life is ticking along as it should, apart from the haircut, with plenty of Sloan time. Our September in Yorkshire has brought exceptional heat which I am loving, now the temperature here and in our Italian village are much the same.

Ah Donna - love your funny...yes I get it - like you am not able to say how I really feel about the " new do"!! Baby Sloane is adorable and it looks like her doll baby is dressed in pink too. Hope your eye is healing and all is well. Like you I am ready for some rain again...garden is drying up. Our heat has been high these past few days. In fact they cancelled school in some areas because of the temperatures. Cooler weather is supposed to be on its way this weekend. Take care - Hugs!
