Fungus Amungus...

I came across a hint several weeks ago that said if you buy strawberries, blackberries etc., that there is a way to prolong their life in the refrigerator!  Wash them....pop the leaves off the strawberries.  Get a bowl and fill it with:  1 part vinegar and 10 parts water.  So, if you use a capful of vinegar, also use 10 capfuls of water...Get it?  Works with any measurement you need.  I didn't have many  strawberries but wanted to try it out.  Well, after a week and a half, NO fungus amungus!Hahaaa....Maybe it works Huh?  Hope so.  Nothing worse than paying through the nose for fruit only to have it spoil in two days time!
Well, guess I'll get busy and do something productive...I think I smell a fresh pot of coffee...Have a great day!

Looks great, and I want to try it too, but not sure if the water/vinegar mixture is for washing the strawberries in, or leaving them in it. And, is the vinegar the distilled white vinegar, or a wine vinegar?

I've never heard of this. I suppose with all the water diluting the vinegar it keeps it from leaving a smell or taste on the fruit. I'll have to give this a try

Sorry Dee! It's a fruit bath...let it sit for about 10 minutes, then drain, dry and refrigerate. I used apple cider vinegar.

I will have to try this! I cleaned out the "science projects" in the fridge last week and had rather not have to do that again any time soon!

I read that too and wondered if it worked! Thanks for the test!

Now go have that cuppa and enjoy your day!! :)

This tip is great! I actually tried it and it works!! OMG! So happy! I can now take my time and eat all of my strawberries and at the prices we're paying for them that's a good thing!
