What Next...

Time is just flying by...We've been a little busy lately.  Our shop Warehouseman, Tony, (the photo is old but he looks pretty much the same)  had a massive heart attack last Thursday.  They had to do a five way bypass on his heart...He comes from a family of twelve siblings...All have passed except Tony (60) and another brother.  We provide him with full insurance coverage and come to find out...he may have only used it a couple of times...for allergies...sigh.  He was rushed to the hospital from the job site and when they stabilized his heart, they Also found his blood sugar was 700...normal is 70-100.  Larry and I went to the hospital Saturday to see him and he was in so much pain we only stayed about a minute...literally!  Broke our hearts.  He has been with us for 35 years...Can you say, Family?  We don't know how long it will take for him to bounce back from this but we are praying for a full recovery...

Larry made some brownies last weekend.  They hit the spot especially with a hot coffee.  He also made a Shepard's Pie.  We'd never had one.  It was pretty good but I don't think the time making it is worth it.  The cheese made it...and of course the mashed potatoes.

Well, guess I'll get busy and do a little work.  It's also tax season so I need to get that ready to go.  Guess I'll go make a coffee and get started.  Y'all have an uneventful...safe...and happy week!

I'm so sorry about your employee. I hope he recovers fast. Seems like he's been ignoring the diabetes symptoms for a while! Hope they get his sugar down quickly! I've made Shepherds pie many times but I always cheat and use the Bob Evans potatoes on top! It's still pretty good though! Have a good week buddy!

So sorry for the news that your employee had a massive heart attack. And wish him all the best, with recovery and everything.

But... From the looks of him, betcha' he should have known he was a "time bomb", waiting to go off. With his family history and etc....

Betcha' he hasn't seen a doc, or had any testing, in ages.

Ding-dang-it! Why do people not pay attention to health?!? Why? Why? Why? Grrrr...

I am so sorry! I am saying prayers for Tony and his family. It sounds like it was his wakeup call for some attention to his health.

The food looks yummy. Chocolate. Cheese. Yep, those are two of the major food groups, LOL.

Taxes. YUCK! I've been working on our return. It is positively insane what we're paying again this year (with 3-1/2 months of the consulting gig $s). It's like buying a new car and driving it off a cliff. I know the tax prep for your business has to be a pain in the patooi.

Oh Donna...I'm so sorry to hear about your friend, Tony. I do hope that he recovers fully and he is pain free soon. I have often thought of making Shepherd's pie, but had heard it can be a pain...you just answered my question! Those brownies sure do look good!! Happy Tuesday!

Poor Tony. I wish him the best. We have Shepherd's Pie every now and then, but usually from frozen box.

I'm praying for Tony. What a terrible thing to happen! I do hope he makes a full recovery, poor guy. Two left from 12? Amazing.

Brittney makes shepherds pie; I'll have to remind her so she can make it while she's here.

I love you, Donna.
God bless you.

Finally, I'm able to get through to your blog without the problem I was having yesterday. What you did fixed it :)
So sorry to hear about Tony. Sending prayers for him.

I am so sorry about Tony! I am praying for a complete recovery for him. 35 years is a long time these days for an employee to stay with you.

Between you and Crystal cooking these days, it looks so damn good and I am in the process of keeping up following your great recipes.

Again, I will keep Tony in my thoughts and prays !!

Prayers and good wishes for Tony's recovery. We love Shepherd's Pie but have never put cheese on it! Sounds good. Brownies sound good too. Now you've made me hungry.

Gosh, that's really sad. Lots of good wishes to Tony for a speedy recovery and hopefully he'll back at work with you soon.

I make shepherd's pie occasionally, though I use minced steak - so really it's proper name is cottage pie. Shepherd's pie is made with lamb.

Lots of love, Kathryn x

I've eaten Shepard's Pie but never made one. The brownies looks so good!

Enjoy your week, Donna, and don't work too hard!

Wow, your co-worker is so fortunate to be alive! God speed his full recovery! I know he will be happy that you came by even though you couldn't stay because of his discomfort. He has lost so many of his siblings, I know that friends are so important.

I enjoy Shepherd's Pie but it isn't something we had much growing up. Not sure why, since it's a great way to do up leftovers and Mom was always pinching pennies. One thing she did make, and I have also made through the years is the leftover veggies, cut up potatoes, pieces of leftover chicken in a white sauce, and topped with biscuits. Yum! :-)
