Rain...Worms...
It's been raining here a lot lately. We need it though. Flowers and butterflies are everywhere. I went out onto the patio to put fresh water into the dogs bowl and noticed the bark on the oak tree seemed to be "moving"! It definitely was...little worms...wriggling...I think these turn into those little yellow butterflies we see a lot of, here in the South. Over the last few weeks, they've all crawled off or turned or whatever they do.
Hope you've been having a good start to Spring where ever you are. Been lots of storms around lately...
Well, off to grab a coffee and get to work...Stay safe everyone!

G'morning...those worms ...ewww...but if they turn into pretty yellow butterflies, I could stand them. :)
Might be bag worms and ready to eat your tree, check with your extension. I have tons of redbuds all over my property, they grow wild here.
Seeing a few blooms here and there. Seeing a LOT of grasshopper babies who will destroy so many thing. I need to check to see if there's anything they don't like. :)
Oh....those are sorta yucky. I was thinking bag worms too. I think the butterflies/moths lay their eggs on plants and not trees.
That's just a wee bit creepy. :)
Eww! I could have done without seeing that wormy photo! Yuck!!! LOL

The worms are really gross but I guess they turn into something beautiful. Everything is sure getting green here in TN.
I saw similar once years back, and I not long ago wrote about the incident in my own blog...a tree with its trunk appearing to be moving. At closer inspection it was covered in caterpillars not dissimilar to the ones you've pictured.
It's autumn down this way...but it's not going to stop me...I'm off to make myself a coffee, too. :)
Hi! Those look like army worms, which do eat up certain types of trees and crops, but leave others alone. We used to have some trouble with them on our farm. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain those are army worms/tent caterpillars. Watch out for them!
Wow..the photos of the caterpillars are wild! :-) Interesting pattern they make on the tree. beautiful flowers. Glad you've had so much rain.
OK those worms are just gross .... if I saw that I would freak out and most definitely wouldn't take a picture of it ... but then I wouldn't have to because you already did, LOL ... but I do love butterflies! Again let me say I don't know how I missed all these wonderful posts. I've enjoyed visiting with you today my friend! xoxo
