Kitties and Cake...and Rain.

There are THREE of these...
There are TWO of these...
There is none of this...I ate it....
And Libby feels totally  DEJECTED because we won't let her have a Kitty to play with.

What a weekend....When you think it's all going to be roses, it usually ends up to be mud.
I heard a meowing coming from the back door so I investigate.  I open the door, look down to see where the sound was coming from, only to see this kitty.  About three weeks old...looking up at me.  I heard MORE meowing coming from....the roof???  I get Larry and out we go to check it out...Sure enough, there's two more staring down at us from the carport roof.  Momma cat had had her babies under the eaves of the roof.  What are you 'gonna do?  Leave them?  Storms brewing and I mean bad ones?  We hadn't seen momma cat in over a week milling about the neighborhood so the prognosis for her return was...nil.  So, out comes the crate I had used for Libby, a trip to the store for a few supplies and food and we think we're set until today after one when the no kill shelter opens...BUTTT...Crystal has just informed me that there's a waiting list for drop-offs....super....  SO....anybody want a kitty?

The cake is a lemon sauce pound cake.  I LOVE lemon and it was Good and pretty easy to throw together.  Of course, I had lemon sauce icing all over me...I never can avoid, really getting into my baking!  Yes, I'm messy.

Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend.  Storms, here in Texas, have been powerful.  We have NEVER seen it rain constantly for three weeks!  There have been some tragedies along with them.  A group of friends (not ours) were staying at a rented house in Wimberly when the floods hit.  Nine people washed away...A man's family, wife and two children missing...the family dog was found last night in a tree...alive!  So, at least the man's dog will be with him.  Such a sadness.

SO, here's hoping you all are safe and sound.  Coming to check on you after I get a refill on the coffee.

Remodeling

Well, I'm back again...I Heard That!.... It's flowers this time so stop fretting!  No sad news today, I promise.
Hubby and I got up early and headed to Lowes for paint chips and to look at tile for my bathroom.  It's getting a makeover for old people...yes, I said old people.  I'll be 64 this Summer and me and the tub are starting to fuss!  I can hike my leg up as well as any 40 year old to get into the tub but 23 inches and clearing stone is a little tricky.  That's a  Jacuzzi and I love it but what happens when I'm 70 or 80?  IF I make it that far.  Gotta' plan for being...old...older.  You're probably think "boy, what a wuss", but I'm tired of forgetting to hike and ending up with a skinned knee.  SO, hence, the remodel.  I'm even going in for a GRAB BAR!!Hahaaaa....don't worry though, I found a really pretty one.  Not the silver aluminum old people kind.  Also getting a hand held shower that slides on a rod...coolbeans!  Larry doesn't think the floor tile can be saved but we'll see.
It's been raining almost constantly...I love it.  I think I'd do great in Washington State....
Hope you're having a nice Saturday...Coming to check on you!

Twin Peaks Waco...

Good morning....I've had lots of people asking questions about what took place here in Waco, Texas, on Sunday.  If I've done this right, this link should take you to our local paper with lots of different links to read.  (The Waco Tribune Herald).

The shopping center where Twin Peaks resides is two miles from us.  170 bikers were arrested at one million dollar bail, each.  Only one guy has managed to post it.  $100,000 dollars.
It's a miracle no innocents were killed but I attribute that to our excellent police force...they had been alerted in time and were ready...thank God.
The last two stores surrounding the crime scene were allowed to open yesterday morning.  It's a long mall type area loaded with individual stores.
One of the stores, Beauty Brands, is where our granddaughter Samantha works but it is at the other end of the shopping center and well out of things.  She was not at work at the time.
I don't know much else to tell you about it...the links to different stories should catch you up to today, if you're interested.
Thank you to my blog buddies who were worried about us...this is why I love the blogs...family.

On another and unrelated note, one of our Robinson High School Seniors shot and killed himself in the parking lot of the high school yesterday morning as school was underway....His mom worked at the daycare that our grankids, William and Samantha attended years ago.  The mom had four children, the youngest is 18 months old.  Her husband left her while she was still pregnant.  She is a model single parent, who is absolutely crushed.  Please send prayer to Marty...a hard worker and loving mother.  The boy had ongoing depression for a long time...The last photo taken by her family, was mom and son, hugging, all smiles...him in his cap and gown....I just don't understand it all.....Bless his heart.

Bad Little Children...

She's so sassy....you don't want to know what her hand gesture means either...to her own mother as well!   I paddled her good for her behavior...at least I tried.  ;o)  That busy beaver beside her is her hubby, Tim.  I think he'll turn into a phone...constantly ringing with work stuff.
Yes, it's been another two weeks since I've posted and No, I'm not giving up! :o)
Between work and family junk, blah, blah, blah.....You know.
It's been raining here constantly for weeks now which I'm glad to see.  Summers here get awfully hot.  We needed to play catch up on our lake levels which, after a four year drought, were significant.  I say, keep coming.  And have you all been good?  Coming around now to check!
See?  I CAN bore you!Hahaaa

Go Plant Something...

Well, it's finally Friday and I thought I'd blog a little something.    Hubby and I don't have much planned for the weekend...maybe more planting.  It gets pretty hot here in the Summer so we don't have a huge selection to pick from as far as blooming plants go.  I love geraniums and hydrangeas...can't have too many...which I don't so, it's off to the nursery, hopefully, Saturday.  Other than that, I got nothing.  I might try to roust out my sister, if I can find her.  Who knows... Anyway, hope you all have a safe and blessed weekend.
