Ok....Here's a neat trick I saw being performed yesterday on that new show of Paula Deen's oldest son. Can't remember his name but he had dear old momma on and she was her same old witty self.
Grab your bundt pan...shove the cob into the hole and shave away! The corn actually drops into the pan and doesn't end up all over the kitchen! And it works! The dogs were waiting for their usual golden treats but this time, they waited in vain...I shaved off the bottom kernels so it would stick down into the hole better. This is also a great time saver when you're doing several cobs.
The kids close on their new house tomorrow morning and they have already sold their home here in town! That was quick! Anyway, onward and upward...December will be here before we know it.
It's been 104, 106 degrees here all week...would love a rain shower....Hope you all are doing well!
Coming around to check on you....

It is hot. I started assembly line canning of corn when I was 5-6. I have a collection of cutters.I like to cut it and fry it.
Hot here, too, but not 3 digest except for a couple of days.
This is the neatest trick EVER....love it.
I've seen that trick and it's a cool solution. Too bad I don't have such a pan! I tried to make fried corn about a month ago and about a third of the corn ended up on the floor. What a mess! So I guess I will stick with frozen corn for recipes in the future.
Wow, that was a fast sale on their house. They sure don't sell that fast here! Whew, you are sure in a hot spell. I about dried up when I was in Nashville during 99 and 100 degree temperatures. Thank goodness for AC!
Hugs to you, as always, sweetie!
What a great tip! My mother had a special cutter for her corn. She was the only one allowed to use it as it could cut you really bad! I miss her fresh cut off corn from the garden. Yes, it's been really very hot. But December will be here soon and we'll be whining about the cold. LOL
That's a great way to do it....great idea!
Boy! I don't envy you the high temperatures. Our turn will come soon enough. Spring starts here next month...and onwards we go. :)
What a great idea. Not that I'll be doing it anytime soon. As you know, I don't cook much, BUT I watch all the cooking shows for reason. :)
Good job on finding, selling - I'm sure that takes a load off for Crystal and Tim. Yeah, before we know it, December will be here. But, it's all good Donna. Two hours away, not across country plus you'll have Sam still there, right?
Sending lots of love.
xoxo
What a great idea! You should have seen me trying to cut corn off the cob this past week. I'm lucky I still have finger! Haha! Hey, I love that you mentioned December! I mentioned the holidays in my post earlier today. Great minds and all that! Well, better get off this computer and get something done! HUGS!!! :)
Oh, I just read the previous blog post about the move... and December. That will be hard for you I'm sure. Sending an even Bigger HUG!!!!
what a neat idea that is.
Angel food cake pan. Have used this for years, when freezing sweet corn.
Excellent use for a bunt cake pan! We had corn tonight and it was SO good!
Awesome idea! I will have to try this.
That's a handy trick to remember. 😁
Corn on the cob is such a treat for a month or so around here that I can't imagine wanting to do this.
I think it's almost as hot here as there and very humid too. At least temperatures will be more moderate in a few days. We've only had two stretches where we weren't comfortable with switching off the AC and opening the windows, so that ain't so bad.
Get ta postin lady!! I know you've got plenty ta say!!
That's just inspired! I love it, not that I ever have much occasion to strip a corncob of its kernels, haahaha you know it comes in a bag. But still, that's a great idea. The poor doggies just a wishin' and a hopin' .... xoxo
