Vanilla Visits...

Well, it's time to get the homemade vanilla going.  I try to make enough to last the year.  Too easy!  Buy a fifth of vodka, 10 to 15 vanilla beans...slice beans straight down the middle and wiggle it open...drop into the vodka...close the cap and, wait...weeks...months...I gently shake it every few weeks to stir it.  When it's as dark and strong as you like it, start using it.  It's not an exact science.

When Larry and I went to visit the kids in Magnolia, they took us to the CheeseCake Factory...You know, the place where Penny works (Big Bang).   Anyway, the food was terrific and pricey.  The cheesecake was wonderful!  Rich in so many ways!

Can you say the babies miss their mom?  Oh yeah...it's tough but we're slowly adjusting.

 Very fancy...outside and inside!

But Lordy, the cheesecake was good!

AND the carrot cake...

Sorry for the dark photos...just too lazy to do the edits.  I have REALLY got to get with things!  Have you ever been tired of being tired?
Well, coming over to check on you all....Have a super day!

So you make your own vanilla. Interesting. When I first looked at the photos I thought you'd got into witchcraft or something. Ha, ha. I love the Cheesecake Factory. Haven't been in several years. It's one of those places you can't go to very often. Looks like you had a great time with the food and family! :)

I won't be making vanilla, but I know yours taste perfect.

That food? OMGosh!

The babies? I can see little Sam missing Mama, and brother missing sister. I know this has been hard, but at least they're only a couple hundred miles, and not across country. I know that doesn't help, but believe me sometimes I wish I could just pick up and go somewhere else even though there are some good times here.

My grandmother used to buy the vanilla by the gallon in mexico and use liquor bottles for dividing it up. A family friend took a big swig without knowing and wanted to kill.

I didn't know you could make your own vanilla!! I'm gonna have to try that.

We don't do chains anymore. I have this theory---Life is too short for a chain restaurant. Looks like you had a good experience though. YUM!

I've thought about making my own vanilla but then I don't do much baking anymore so it would probably take me forever to use it all.
Whatever is on that one plate looks really good and I want some :)

Homemade vanilla is the BEST!! I have never eaten in a Cheesecake Factory! I have wanted to for a long time...just haven't gotten around to it yet. And yes, I am ALWAYS tired. My medicine makes me SO tired. But, we just keep on truckin'

So sorry that the kids are having a tough time with this move. And you too. It is difficlt, but always remember...it's not forever. This too shall pass. Hang in there! :)

And when you feel like a shot...drink some of the vanilla! Make a triple lot to see you through! :)

I always have a batch of vanilla "cooking" and I've given away a lot over the years. It is the perfect hostess gift!

There is a Cheesecake Factory here in town but I've never, ever been. Not going by myself!
