Fencing...Ramage, Babies, Carnivore Diet

Good morning Friends... Hope you all have had a good week.
It's been a sad yet happy week for us.  I was called by our friend's daughter to come and sit with our next-door neighbor and friend, Ramage.  We've known him and my best friend and wife, Gwen, (gone almost 3 years now) for almost 50 years.  Anyway, the room was quiet...Ramage was unconscious...and on morphine.  The television was playing Gunsmoke...his favorite show.  I was watching his labored breathing...and it seemed to get more and more laborious.  Still watching...it slowly just stopped.  Nothing.  I got up to feel for a pulse...there was none.  He was gone.  I had just been asking Gweny, his wife in Heaven, to just come and get him!  It was horrible to have to watch him suffer...he didn't deserve this... She must have heard me because about 10 seconds later, he was gone.
God is SO good... There is life on the other side...Our family and friends DO hear us when we talk to them...I've had so many experiences over the years that I never doubt what is right in front of me, and I thank God for the privilege.
Just have faith...

Moving on to more earthly...news, we finally replaced our side fencing.  It was getting bad, and it was just time.

Our little Sloane and Lottie...living their best lives!  We love them soooo much.

I found a great little meat market and bought a couple of ribeye's...uggg...I just closed my eyes and paid the man.  They were huge and marbled.  Delicious!  Tender!  If steaks aren't marbled with some fat, throw them back!  That's where you get the tenderness.
Larry and I both have started the Carnivore way of eating, this past Thursday...the 17th.  I'm already down 4 pounds!  I'll take it.  It's a slow but steady loss.  I think 4 pounds in a week is great.  I'm trying to lose 20 lbs... we'll see how it goes.
If you're curious about the diet, there's tons of videos on YouTube.

Eggs...bacon...and sausage...

Link sausage and scrambled eggs...

Shrimp in the air fryer...

Live your lives and be happy!
"Rejoice in the Lord always.  I will say it again: Rejoice!"

Larry and I are on the way to pick up my 221-1 Featherweight Singer sewing machine from the repairman, Mr Denmark.  It's been almost 3 months!

And $174 later...hopefully, it works great!  This is the before photo...crossing my fingers and toes!
Then we head South 32 miles to my favorite fabric shop in Rosebud, Texas.  I need specialty blue and pink. fabric.
SO!
Have a wonderful weekend!  Until next time...

Grandmothers and Granddaughters...

Good morning Friends...
My Granddaughter Samantha likes to cook.  A skill I tried to teach to our daughter, Crystal Anne...to no avail.  She was more "tomboy" than Anne of Green Gables.  A sports kinda girl...with no time for a hot stove.  But that's okay...she makes a mean jalapeƱo popper nowadays.

I bought a recipe box a lot of years ago so I could, one day, leave granddaughter Samantha, a "bit of Gamma".  While growing up she came to like different things like catsup on her scrambled eggs...potato soup...strawberry salad, etc., hence, the box.  There is something magical and wonderful about that first granddaughter or grandson, both of which we are blessed to have.  That "first" baby the doctor or nurse places into your arms is so special...an immediate bond forms that can't be explained...you have to have experienced it for yourself.  And throughout your life, you cherish it.  I suppose it's true when they say that you get another shot at raising your own daughter or son...not actually but emotionally.  You would fight to the death for your daughter or son... without thought.  Nothing can replace them in your heart.  But I think grandchildren are God's way of saying these little lives are special and need the love and life only we can give them...so He loans them to us...what a wonderful gift.

I found this pretty recipe box in a bookstore...I think Barnes & Nobel.  I'm putting all of my favorites in it for her.

This card made it's way to my mailbox!  Thank you, Miss Ann!!  She creates the prettiest things!

Well, I broke down and visited Michael's yesterday.  The last time I was there checking out their JoAnn acquisition was a few months ago.  Highly disappointed.  Well, I must say, things have improved.  It's really looking like they are growing their fabric store.  Getting rid of a lot of the children's things. I even punched the "help me" button and a lady carrying a Caramel Frozen Latte appeared and cut my chosen fabric!   She was really nice...but the lady up at the checkout was awful.  No hello...how are you...let me help...nothing...So, I smiled and asked Her how She was doing...fine, was the flat response.  I think I made her mad that she had to work.  I refuse to use the self-checkouts and that started her bad attitude.  Anyone ever do you that way?  She's always "angry" though.  I'm not sure how to deal with it anymore.

Air Fryer pork ribs and zucchini

A yummy Cinnamon Roll...

Homemade Banana Pudding

Larry made Hamburger steaks with mushroom sauce and green beans and potatoes.

Egg omelet with sausage and cheese.

I saw this on someone's blog but can't remember who's!
Exactly how I feel sometimes! lolol...
So... Thanks for visiting me!  I hope and pray you all are doing well and are enjoying better days...
So... until next time...

Finally Took the Plunge...

Good morning, Friends...
Well hopefully, I'm back to a regular posting schedule!  It just seems like it's been a really busy July...doing things at church...home...and I don't think I've sewn a lick this month!  Can't seem to get all my chickens in one place!  Not happy about that...

We did, however, finally decide on a car.  We loved our 2013 GMC Terrain so much that we bought another one.  It's hard to beat a GMC anything.  They're just a well-made car or pick-up.  The last one was made in Canada...the 2026 was made in Mexico.  Hopefully we'll get another 12 years out of this one..we'll just have to see...Hopefully one day soon, we'll start seeing more cars made in America!

It's really going to take some time to learn about everything that's on this car...Larry asked what I wanted on it, and I said since it's probably going to be our last new car...I wanted everything.  Auto-start, heated and cooled seats...heated steering wheel...auto back lift...navigation...cameras...car play...all of it.  The only thing we didn't get was 4-wheel drive.  I don't think we're going off-road anytime soon, and with what little we do drive that extra expense wouldn't make much sense.  If it snows...we don't go out.  It has front wheel drive so that should be enough.  That's the great thing about retirement...

Secrets!  lol

Samantha, Sloane and Lottie resting at home...snuggle time.

I get to keep little Lottie on Friday!  Sloane goes to daycare three days a week.  Sam has some appointment and needs free hands.

Found this sweet photo of Larry at Air Force training tech school in Colorado...so long ago.  Looks like a baby!
1968...

Never knew this...but then, why would I.

Made an easy meal for a family of three whose wife is just out of the hospital.  I figured since here was supper...they needed cookies...Everyone needs cookies!! lolol

They're not homemade but they are really good...Pillsbury.

A hamburger on lo-carb tortillas!  Why eat all that extra bread when you don't have to??  These are great!

Pork and broccoli... sorry, but the only way I'll eat the green stuff is if it's covered in cheese!

Pork ribs with Larry's baby lima beans…

Scrambled Egg, tomato and cheese Grits...

Well, that's about it for me this time.  Hope you all are doing well and are safe wherever you may be.

We are still trying to deal with the drownings at the Guadulupe River near Kerrville, Texas.  UPDATE: 120 confirmed sweet lives lost...more than 160 still missing...so far.  All those little girls...campers...it's just unimaginable.  Please say a prayer for all the families involved... so...

Until next time....

Independence Day...A Birthday, Babies and No Horses

Good morning Friends.

I hope you are already having a wonderful Independence Day.  It's morning so I'm enjoying my coffee.

Larry and I have both been suffering with, this time of year, allergies.  SO tired of it.  Stuffed up from all the rain then sunshine steaming everything.  Crazy...Sorry I haven't posted or been reading any of you!  I promise to do better...

Our grandson Tylar, little Sydney and momma Sara had this photo done. Too darn sweet.  Can't wait to see them in September!

Our daughter Crystal had her 52nd birthday June 28th!  Oh My Word!!  How did all that time pass so fast??

Crystal absolutely loves being a grandmother!  And she's good at it!  They have such fun!

Our precious Crystal Anne...so long ago.  I know you all can relate.

Sloane wanted a photo with little sister Lottie...I love them!

Samantha is just the best Mom!  She's off from work for 6 weeks since Lottie's birth but has taken care of the babies mostly by herself and with the help of hubby Everett.  And loves it!  Of course, Crystal stayed the first week after birth then had to get back to work and of course, Larry and I are here for them, but the phone doesn't ring often for help...They are great parents.  But it can get a bit tiring...lol

Switching subjects...Larry bought me a new recliner/rocker/electric chair...sounds funny, doesn't it...electric chair...lolol...no, it moves when I push buttons! lol

It's SO nice!!

I bought a photo scanner...had to.  I have Too Many Photos!!!
Stacks...so...I finished putting the slides onto the computer with the

Kodak Slide n Scan Digital Scanner
from Amazon

Sue from Photowannabe asked about it...
but then discovered I needed one for photos!   So, I purchased the
ScanSnap ix1300
I love it!  It'll scan photos, invoices, receipts, you name it.  Had a hiccup to begin with but Tech Support was great!  Easy fix.

Homemade Banana Pudding...I never use the boxed stuff for this!  Homemade or not at all.

Sausage off the grill...so yummy.
Since we both hadn't felt our best lately, there wasn't much action in the kitchen, and we didn't go out except for church.  We weren't contagious...just stuffy and sneezy with itchy eyes!
I'm not a fan of this season!

I had an eye appointment yesterday.  While sitting in the chair of doom, I noticed the doctor's chair.  Have you ever seen one of these?  It's like a saddle!  I've never seen one used.  I looked around for the horse but couldn't find one...lolo

Well friends, I suppose that's all for me today.  Hope your 4th is fun, safe and full of laughter and prayer for all those who aren't here with us today to celebrate.

So until next time...

Oh...a note to "Anonymous"

You really need to find something to do besides leaving nasty comments.  I don't care what you advise or think...You are in South America so that tells me you are just a scammer who is too embarrassed to leave your name.  Essentially, a coward.

So...if you continue to leave more idiotic comments I'll just discard them.  A waste of Your time.
