Granted...it's a Monday. I'd rather be doing the dreaded laundry than have to come to work...BUT, to work, I came. It's Martin Luther King Day...a bonified holiday here in Texas. Hubby usually has Rotary on Mondays but today being a holiday, he didn't have to attend.
Just to let you know...I admire Dr. King...This post has nothing to do with him, except, since it is a holiday, Hubby had to feed me at lunch. We went to Sonic. It was open. Sitting across from us sat a young mother and her child. At first we couldn't figure out just What Mother was doing but when we saw her and said child run behind her pick-up to the playground, we figured it out. Said child wanted to play. Ok....It's cold here, mother has on a heavy sweater. Said child is wearing nothing but a thin long sleeved t-shirt and pants. Mother unlocks the gate, lets child go in to the play area alone and shuts the gate then runs back to her warm pick-up. I ask you...Is It Just Me??? I know it's Monday...the lowest day of the week. When I see a Mother dump her kid COATLESS no less, in a playground, and run back to the pick-up...It Must Be Cold!!! What about the kid?? I Really wanted to get MY rear end out of MY warm pick-up and go do a little interfering....Like, "Get a Coat on that kid!!" What is UP with these Kids-Raising-Kids, these days??? They wonder WHY bad things happen? That child could have been snatched in a heartbeat from that play area! Mother had her back to it!
I'm not Over protective gang...I'm just protective! It must be the over abundance of minerals or the fluoride in the water...I don't know, but I DO know it only takes a second for a situation to turn bad.
Ok, I've ranted...I need coffee...

Oh Donna..... I agree with your feelings. It's so maddening and sad to see children treated like a piece of furniture!!
Hugs for your big loving heart!
And I couldn't do a Thing about it....Grrrrr
hughugs
I hear ya! Saw a girl in shorts today and thought she was crazy. Recently saw a man with his little kids not bundled up on an extremely cold day and I wanted to get a hold of him! I know he had plenty of "insulation", but his little kids needed warm clothes on.Uggghhh I could go on, but I won't! Have a great afternoon.
What the hell was she thinking? Oh yeah that's right she wasn't. Dumba**. Love the new header by the way.
I would have said something...I have a problem when it comes to holding my tongue. lol!
Many parents today are screwed up, plain and simple. They think about themselves light years ahead of the welfare of their children. So sad.
couldn't agree with you more Donna. I can't tell you how many times I've watched young mothers do things that I just wanted to grab them by the scruff of the neck and ask them what is wrong with them.
It seems very strange that the mother was feeling the cold even though she was more warmly dressed than her child, and yet she let the child go out and play as it was. As they say: There's none so strange as folk.
Guess this mom needed to say no or take the kid back home and get a coat.My oldest always wanted short sleeves when it was cold and long when it was hot, a phase I was so happy wheh it ended.
Things were so much safer when we were kids, especially for my sisters and I because we lived mostly in the country. Now it's terrifying to even think of letting your little ones out of your sight! Evil around every corner it seems.
Being an over protective Mom...lol, I wonder who is raising the kids these days? Are they raising themselves? I don't get it either, but it's sad.
Oh man, that is just SO sad. :(
I think the mother needs a mother.
I'm with you! It does only take a second for lives to be changed forever. I see parents, and sometimes what appear to be grandparents, doing things like that all the time. Maybe I was overprotective... or just maybe my care prevented the unthinkable. Children are a treasure, and should be treated as such.
That is so wrong ! Also, sad, too!
That is so sad! It would only take a second for that child to be gone! I hate seeing stuff like that!
Wow, Donna, I agree with your rantings. Some people I just don't understand.
Hugs,
Donna
Donna,
you are spot on! I'm pretty sure my boys were teenagers and I would still want to take them in the family bathroom because of the horror stories one hears.
I say you can't keep a close enough ear and eye on your babies.
Cmom
Oh good grief! Someone needs to give that momma a good whippin'! Jeez!
Oh my, I hope you can enjoy your coffee!!!!!!!
