Just Resting...

No...I haven't stopped blogging....just been resting.  It's actually amazing how much work you can get done when you "unplug" from the internet and Direct TV for a while!Hahaaa....Since we installed the ROKU TV system, it seems we are no longer tied to all those news channels!  It was a constant diet of news, news and more Bad news...constantly.  I get alerts on my IPhone if something bad has happened and I read the Drudge Report and other news outlets when I need to.  It's not the bad news that I object to (wish there weren't any) but it's the talking heads!  Over and Over and Over again they report the bad news!  Stupid questions like, "How did it make you feel to loose your home?" REALLY???  So, I've unplugged!  Doing a little photo editing (I'm not sure of the name of the rose...Could it be a Cabbage Rose?) and trust me, I know it's not great but the doodling around with it was fun.  Now that I see them side by side, I also could have super softened the edges of the rose in the original instead of the edits I did...hummm...never satisfied!Hahaa
We rested over the Memorial Day weekend.  Hubby cooked a bit and then yesterday, we went for hamburgers at Tim and Crystal's new house!  It's fun to watch your kids attain their goals.  Makes me remember how it was for us in the '70's.  New house...new paths.
Well, guess I'll let you get back to doing all that important stuff you've got planned.  Hope it's a Happy day for you all!

I love the pink rose. I have wondered where you've been. Nice to go to your kids house. I agree the news is tough. Blogland is a happier place, but I guess you have to know what's going on too. sandie

I never watch or read the news, Donna. Grant comes home and tells me the news, normally bad. I love your Cabbage Rose. Yes, we are happy with our kids when they're successful. (((Hugs))) Jo

LOVE your roses; spectacular. :)

I'm very happy for Crystal and the family. I bet they're all so excited. That's a huge deal.

Always nice to hear from you. I spent the day decorating graves and reliving childhood memories.

Your blog look is simply beautiful!

ahhhhh yes, we do need a lot of unplugging. I've been doing it too. Especially while I've been sick.

I think your rose shots are perfect and my favorite is the second one. I have never seen a Cabbage Rose and now I want some, they are stupendous and real show stoppers. Your Memorial Day weekend sounds perfect. Rest and then a bit of family fun.

I'm glad to hear you haven't given up blogging. It's nice to unplug now and then but even when I do I still don't manage to get anything done.
Love the rose and the best part about editing is that you can do so many different versions of the same picture

The only place I listen to the news is in the car on the radio. I can't stand it on TV--it is so BAD! All that blathering about nothing...yuck.

I am very glad to hear you are resting and having fun! We are trying to make a dent in cleaning out my parents' house as we have to close the estate. It has been very stressful on all of us. I sure am looking forward to resting when this week is over!

Lovely photo and editing! I know what you mean about second-guessing yourself on editing. I do it to myself constantly, LOL. Glad to hear that the young folks got themselves a new home! Congrats to them and they deserve it because of all of their hard work!

I figured you were taking a bit of a break. We're here whenever you want to post!

We seldom watch news. Sometimes, I feel bad about that, but I sort of keep up thru the internet.

I got distracted by your potato salad in previous post - haven't had any yet this season but I found a new recipe last night while surfing the net. Yours looks delicious. You're into the roses here Donna, it's beautiful. I hear you on the TV unplug. The talking heads don't simply report the news, they go even further and start creating it with days and days of milking tragedies for human interest stories. I feel it's exploiting people and what they are going through, just my opinion. I Roku too! Happy week to you Donna. {{{hugs}}

I know what you mean about the new media! Good grief! The stupidest questions. "What were you thinking when the tornado ripped up your home with you in?" Really? You really want to know. I would probably say I was scared wit less except wit would be spelled with sh and no w. Ha, ha. ha. Taking a break or rest from news and blogging land is good sometimes. Just don't stay away too long. :) We'd miss you.

I understand the need to unplug for a while. The Sunday news programs ae on now with a bunch of arguing and talking over each other...

Your edits of the rose are beautiful! I wish I new more about editing...

I hear you, Donna. I cannot listen to or watch the news anymore. TG reads Drudge and of course he listens to Rush and Beck and Sean. He'll tell me if there's anything I need to know. Your flower picture is spectacular!!! I love that shade of pink.

Hi dear one...I am behind, as you can see! :-) I love this rose! It looks like a peony, it's so full! Cabbage rose is probably right. I understand your need to "get away"...I take breaks often. But I'm scared to death "something will happen" and I won't know about it! Left over from the first 9/11. Perhaps I am overly obsessed with being informed, but I want to KNOW what's going on. It goes back to my childhood I think when some things happened to me that made me feel I wasn't in control, and well, now I am obsessed with being "in control." Although, knowing all this bad stuff doesn't make you in control any more than not knowing it, unfortunately. I wish there was more I could DO. Well, enough of that! I got your latest comment on not being able to comment on some blogs. Sometimes I will click on the person's name and it will go to a Profile page with no way to link into their blog. That happens rarely. Usually, when I am looking at a blog post and get to the bottom and don't see a Comment link, I will check at the top...nothing. I was on one last night, entered my name and email address and there was no place to write the comment. Nothing. And this person had been lamenting they rarely got comments. I am thinking this may be why! I can usually deal with Wordpress stuff, but it's some of the others I am having trouble with. It doesn't happen often but it makes me feel terrible. Well, you didn't ask for a book to read this morning...sorry! In closing...can you BELIEVE Obama's new raise!!!!!?
