The Sins of Salads...

Ok, so Hubby says he needs to run to the store...do I need anything else to go with the pulled pork sandwiches he plans to serve up for our lunch....?  No, I say...can't think of anything.  Ok, he says...
While I'm gone, would you mind mixing up a potato salad to go with the pork?
Sure!  I'll get right on that! I reply. (smiling sweetly like a good wife is suppose to do)
I boil up the potatoes...drain them...add the sweet pickle relish...mustard...mayonnaise...and begin a gentle stirring.  Hubby's walking in the back door just as I begin the gentle stirring...
"We're not 'gonna have Mashed potato salad are we?" asked Hubby dearest....
Smarta**, I reply.
Would have helped if I let the potatoes cool off.
When you don't cook enough, you tend to lose your magical cooking powers.  And yes, it ended up being "mashed" potato  salad.
I think I'll keep my day job.

This is a familiar story, and I love the way you tell it along with the pictures!!!! I have done this before, and it all mushed up!! Did you both eat it? It probably tasted just as good, only mushy! I have several good potato salad recipes that I need to try, this should light a fire under me now.

I know some people actually like it that way and I have tasted it. It is good.
Have a wonderful Sunday, my dear!

It looks like quite a concoction you've mixed into it. Mashed is my preferred version btw.

It still looks good, mashed potato salad or not! I never could make good potato salad....tuna macaroni salad was more my style!

well if it makes you feel any better I've also made mashed potato salad before too. Wade likes his potato salad when it's still warm so I have to mix it all up without letting the potatoes cool off. I just have to remember to not cook them quite as long

Ha! It still tastes good, even if it is mashed.

Been there done that!

I bet it tasted good anyway....

I cannot BELIEVE he sad that to you. I love it when the potato salad is all soft and warm and melty. And I cannot BELIEVE it was HE who made the pulled pork sammiches, Donna. At our house TG does not cook. He only eats. But he's sweet about clearing the table. :~)

Fret not. There really is a potato salad that is like mashed potatoes. My mother made it all the time. It was our favorite. Happy cooking most of the time. :)

I let my husband make his own lunch otherwise he'd have me slaving in that kitchen all day! Cooking isn't my strong point I'm afraid!!!

My hubby loves my potato salad. I make it very much like you do. It's SOOO good with things like pulled pork sandwiches! :-)

Guess what...I attended the March on Monsanto yesterday! My very first protest march! :-) Only we didn't march, but sat in the shade on lawn chairs holding a BUNCH of signs I made up. We had our pictures taken a dozen times, and I was interviewed for channel 4 but they cut most of what I said. We have to stop them! It felt good to do "something."
