A Personal Photo Challenge - Let There be Light
Well, it's time for another Personal Photo Challenge hosted by Donna of Cottage Days.
I hope you will stop in and check it out, perhaps adding YOUR name while you're there? These are always "challenging"!
Both shots were taken at the World War II Museum in New Orleans. The first was an actual bunk bed used by some brave recruit. I added a texture and a little additional lens flare.
The second one, I left alone...The display was in a room all by itself...The impact of what America and her Allies were up against was horrifying! We were out numbered, plain and simple...but we had a tremendous weapon. We had God.....
Heading over to check out all the others!! Happy weekend to you!

OMG, these both give me chills because of the subject matter. Yes, I believe that God was on our side in WWII. And we paid such a heavy price with our men and women. My dad and Jim's dad played roles in that war and neither one of them wanted to talk about it!
I really like the starkness of the first photo and the texture makes it look like paper. Cool sepia tone too! And graphics in the second photo sure do bring the history home! Love that you included a profile silhouette too.
Thanks for sharing these and participating, sweetie! You and I have been doing photo challenges like this for a long time, huh?
Love these photos! I'm a WWII buff and both my dad and my father-in-law served in the Army during the war. You can read about them on the 6/3/2012 post. Both photos are great, but I especially like the first one. It evokes quite a feeling in me, which is the ultimate goal of all photography, don't you think?
You did a fine job with the photos. And I wish God would have ended the war much sooner.
Both photos are thought provoking and I like the woman's silhouette in the second one.
So you visited this museum? The photos are so artistic, but you can see the sadness...
Interesting photos for the challenge this month Donna..love that shot of that bed! Very simple!
Each photo tells a story; the first one (before and after you explained) put a lump in my throat. I can't explain exactly why, but I actually needed to be reminded of something today.
Love you, have a wonderful day.
xoxo
Amen Donna, if God is for us, who can be against us? Great photography of a sombre subject. Have a wonderful weekend. (((Hugs))) Jo
These are both very powerful images Donna. Well done!!
Very nice shots, I will have to see who else posted.
Your photos are excellent. I love the first one. There's just something about the light in it and the old bed and blanket. The second one startled me at first but the lighting is great and the silhouette really stands out. Beautifully done!
That must have been a moving visit. Very gripping photography.
Looks like a place to visit to learn more about history. It would be good for all school kids to go. Good photos for the challenge.
wow, your photos are stunning.
WOW~ these are awesome, Miss Donna!! The first one looks so cool, and I think you made a wise choice in leaving the second one alone. ♥
That sounds like an amazing museum!! ((HUGS))
Awesome photos, you did good on this one
Wow how dramatic. The bed simple but tells a big story. Great job.
Hi Donna,
Thanks for your comment. I enjoyed participating in the photo challenge this month. It's such a wonderful way to learn.
I really like your first photo -- such an interesting angle.
Very dramatic photos, especially the first one. Stark, with a story.
Oh these are great. I really like the first one but the second is certainly chilling! What a horrible enemy the nazis were.
Very interesting photos indeed Donna!! The second one really is chilling.
Both of these photos send shivers down my spine.
The light adds to the sparseness of the first image.
The second photo has great contrast from the reflected light and play of shadows.
These are really amazing shots! (I will check out this museum one day, I hope.) Enjoy your day!
I love the photos, especially the first one. It looks so lonely.
