That Time of the Year...

Hope you all had a wonderful and safe Easter?  We did.  The kids came for a lunch of ham and asparagus etc.... Pretty darn good.  We enjoyed each other for a while then they were all off for other destinations which, for some, involved more food.  I remember those days well.
Bluebonnets and Texas just go together.  They are popping up everywhere.  Love the colors.
Here's a question for you English majors....Lately, I've been reading where, to the younger generation, that you no longer need to leave two spaces after you end one sentence and begin another!  They say it's annoying!  I was always taught to space twice for clarity's sake...now it's being said that that was only because we used typewriters (cavemen days).
I don't care if it annoys them, I'm a two spacer...always will be.
SO...Enjoy your day.  Hope it's warming up cold toes or cooling off hot bods for you where ever you are.
On my way for visits...

Gosh, I'd not even THOUGHT of the double space thing in years and years. I never do it but I surely don't mind others doing it. ;)

Beautiful flowers. Wish we had that here. In fact, I wish the "owner" would just let me the whole backyard in wildflowers. :)

Well, I suppose I've always been a one spacer. Okay, never mind I think I'm a two spacer. Gosh, why did you bring that up? :)

Glad your Easter was good; ours was also, just Britt and family at their house. The kids had fun and that's awesome!

Most of the time I do double spacing...old habits (and teachings) are hard to break.

However, there are times I'm guilty of putting in only one space.

I write an article for our weekly local rag here where I live. I try to keep it to a certain length, and there are times I scrimp on the spacing if I find I'm running out of room. Instead of decreasing my words, I am, at times, guilty of decreasing the spacing between sentences. Ouch! :)

Went out hoping to see some blue today, but only saw babies. What a lovely photo.

Pretty bluebonnets. As for spacing, I don't care how annoying the younger generation finds two spaces at the end of a sentence. I will continue to do as long as I live. :)

Is that rule for texting? Or just written communication in general? Why space at all? Why not just type all the letters together and make it just one word. My kids talk like that anyway.

I sound old, don't I?

COmputer fonts don't require the double space as in the typewriter days, but I don't find it offensive.

It's somewhat like no longer indenting paragraphs, which we both have embraced. :)

Thanks for your visit to my blog today!

I think this spacing between sentences is a new thing in writing. I write for my state homeschool magazine and they want only one space between sentences! I do that for my writing for them, but I am old school, I guess. Perhaps some habits just die hard!

Lovely flowers!

I became a one-spacer when I started blogging. I never two-space anymore but I am constantly eternally overwhelmingly annoyed by other dumb stuff people do ... I won't say what, just call me an English curmudgeon or snob or nazi or whatever. I'm good with it. The bluebonnets are wonderful. I wish I could see them with my own eyes, up close and personal, and take their picture. xoxo

Those Bluebonnets are so beautiful!

Now, about the spacers, I'm generally a two spacer, but I'm learning to be a one spacer on some websites, just to keep from running out of their allowed spacing. When I'm reading a lengthy page, the spacing breaks it up and makes it easier on the eyes. Of course, I do have "old" eyes so maybe that's the problem. I say, space anyway you want to! Life is short and we should just enjoy it! Lol!

LOVE your bluebonnets! So glad you had a good Easter with family. Gotta say, I am sick of all these shortcuts and ridiculous new "rules" for what our kids are being taught. In my book convicts are hanged, not hung, and there will always be two spaces after a period, and complete words being used, not silly abbreviations!

Would love to see those bluebonnets in person someday! You are so lucky to be able to see those beautiful fields abloom!

I am a two-space girl. But I've noticed that blogger changes everything to one space when I cut, paste, and reformat my write-ups (originally prepared in Word). Now that I know that two-spaces annoy a lot of the young upstarts, I will make sure that I continue to use them!
