I'm Still Dancing...

Just how did I get old enough to have to apply for Medicare??  Isn't that just for old farts?  Yep...today was the day I applied.  Here in the States, you are made to apply.  No options.  You pay into the system all your working life and when you are about three months away from your birthday, you go online, fill out all the answers to the questions and Bob's your Uncle...you're in.  Incredible...unreal...I use to look at my Dad's Medicare card and think to myself, he can't be that old!Hahaa...little did I know.
SO, join me in the proverbial salute to old age...In my head I can still hear my favorite song by the Bee Gees, How Deep is Your Love, and remember all the fun we had dancing to Stayin' Alive.
I guess that last tune says it all...remembering old loves...oh well, we all have one.

You just keep on dancin' girl! You're far too young to stop. I've been so blessed to have added a supplement; it costs a little to have complete coverage. I've never had to pay a dime though. :)

Love Johnny, and what he had to say!

You're too young to think of yourself as "old" Donna!

Oh, you beat me to it! I will be applying a little under a year from now. I don't like the idea of the government controlling my health care. Gah! How did we get so old?

I felt weird when I realized I could join AARP, but I'm enjoying some of the discounts. Haven't had to do medicare yet, but it's probably not too far off for me. Thanks for sharing the Johnny photo... that can cheer a gal right up! Haha!

When Medicare came out in 1966, my Grandmother refused to join. Daddy told her she HAD to. It was a Law. Her reply, "I can afford my own doctor and hospital costs. Give it to someone who needs it!" She died a year later and I'm sure my Dad was happy she hadn't spent all his inheritance for hospital care.

I have a small supplemental to go with it, to pay the 20% Medicare doesn't pay for. It's great! Of course, when the gov gives us a cost of living raise in our Social Security, they also raise the amount of our Medicare payment--which comes out of our SS FIRST!!! LOL

Well I'm not ready to apply for Medicare yet but I've been asking myself a lot lately about how I got so old. I'll have those Bee Gees songs stuck in my head for days now :)

Isn't it amazing how this happens. Why does the outside...and your driver's license...betray how we feel inside?? How can this be?! You are not alone, girlie.
