Lottie Lynn Parker...1949 Singer, Family and Nasty

 Good morning, Friends...
Goodness...it's been a pretty busy, last several weeks around here.  I don't usually stay away this long but...life just keeps coming at us...of which we are extremely grateful to God.
Introducing our newest addition...
Miss Lottie Lynn Parker.
Sami had an easy time of it...nothing like with Sloane.
Thanks be to Jesus.

Sloane's first visit as a Big Sister...

She was so excited to see Lottie...

and to hold her...

as was I... Oh how sweet!

Not sure what happened here but I'm sure things will be just fine...lol

We'd all met at Miller's Meat Market in Lott, Texas...sort of a last get together before Lottie was born.  Its owned and operated by the Mennonites.  We're no longer a large family but what we don't show in numbers, we make up for, with lots of love.

I made an Italian soup one day this week...would you believe we ate it for breakfast?  We surely did!  And it was delicious.

Breakfast...Cream of Wheat with Crasins.  Not fancy but very good on a rainy morning.

After seeing Lottie in the hospital and after Larry's doctor's visit...we ate lunch in an old haunt of ours...The Cotton Patch in Waco, Texas.  Images can be deceptive!  Greasy...and tasteless.  The gravy was one of those mixes.  The fries were swimming in grease...and Larry's fish basket was just as bad if not worse.  The fish literally fell apart!  Red hot...just out of its grease bath.

And we were so sad to see the shape the restaurant had fallen into!  Floors were nasty and sticky...as was our tabletop.  The lack of cleaning wasn't due to lack of patrons...there weren't any people in there!  Just us and two other couples. By the time we were seated, it was 12:30...lunch time!  This used to be stacked with people...and long lines!  We ate there often over the last 30 years and have never seen it like this.  I guess it has run its course over time.
Two basket lunches...that's it...and just waters with lemon...
$32.00...and a $5 dollar tip...I kid you not.
$37 dollars...sigh

We were given a complimentary dish of "fresh", hot rolls.  They were cold and dry.  When the waitress asked how we liked them...I'm sorry but I had to tell the truth...I also had to quickly tell her (from the look on her face) that it wasn't her fault!  She'd been kind and sweet and we left her a nice tip.
No manager came around to the tables to ask how we were enjoying our lunch like they always used to ...so... I guess it will be closing soon if someone doesn't fix things.

And whose brilliant idea was it to use these wire baskets??  I lifted mine up to see a little puddle of grease on the table...
We're Done with Cotton Patch in Waco, Texas!

Larry was at his dad's house meeting with a man that wants to lease the land for cattle grazing.  When he got home, he gave me this Singer Featherweight 1949 sewing machine that had been his Mom's. I tried everything I knew to fix the tensions on it, but nothing worked.  Just by chance, my quilt lady suggested I try an old man in Hewitt, Tx.  Well, we ran it over to him last week and I'm still waiting to hear from him.  He was busy so I just need to cool my heels...patience is not a virtue of mine! Lol

I finally got little greatgran Sydney Jo's quilt finished.  I also made a phalange binding!  First time trying that...cute, but a pain in the proverbial butt!
Dad and Mom, Tylar and Sara, are being assigned to an air base in Arkansas from Hungary.  They'll move in September.  I'll just wait to send it to them when they get settled.
Next quilt is Sloanes Dresden Plate...gotta' get moving on that one.

We've started car shopping.  This is our favorite.  A GMC Terrain 2026...fully loaded with all kinds of buttons and bows.
Well...there were other happenings that we were a party to but boring for you.  So... I guess I'll leave off here and let you get back to your work or play.  It's been raining here off and on for weeks but I loved it!  This is a hot state in the Summer...
Have a wonderful weekend and take care!

Congratulations! She looks so sweet!
I love your quilt SO nice. We also have many problems here with restaurants prices going up and quality going down and a lot of them are not clean…nice vintage sewing machine.

What a beautiful name and a precious baby girl. sweet Sloan had such a big smile on her face seeing little sister. so adorable. I am thinking we are only about two hours away from where each of us lives. Or should I say, we are 2 hours away from the Waco area. We too are finding the prices of the restaurants in our area to be rising...But, I will say, the parking lots of the eating joints are always full...Love the new quilt. Such beautiful colors and the pattern is cute. Hope you hear from the guy soon about the sewing machine..Have a wonderful Friday the 13th...

Sweet little Lottie is absolutely beautiful. She does not look like a newborn. And Sloane is so precious with her.

It's sad to see places of business that were once run with the greatest of care get run down, isn't it? We've experienced the same thing around us.

The quilt is beautiful! You do an amazing job, Donna.

Happy car shopping! xx

Congrats on the arrival of Lottie Lynn. Sad about the fish&chip place, which is normally a fave of mine.

Welcome to the world, little Lottie. She is precious, Donna. And a cute picture of Sloane with her baby sister. That Singer Sewing machine made my heart sing. Even though it's not in working condition yet, just to have that is a treasure. That's too bad that this favorite restaurant of yours has gone downhill in their service. Sometimes this happens with new owners. That is a lot to pay too. We just went to a cafe, four of us and a baby, and it was around $40. Your quilt turned out wonderful, and the colors are so nice. You did a nice job on it, Donna.

Have a restful weekend, and so happy for you all with the new baby. That is a dear picture of you and her. : )

Congratulations on the birth of sweet Lottie! She's adorable and Sloane is going to be such a good big sister.
So sad to see a good restaurant go downhill.
I hope the sewing machine can be fixed. It's beautiful. So are your quilts - all treasures!

the quilt is gorgeous! the restaurant sounds horrid, I have seen a few that were good go down in flames in the past. nothing last forever, Kentucky Fried was so good and now it is not. even burger King when it came out in 1975 in Savannah was delish and now it is not.
Lottie is beautiful and the photo of big sister and baby and Mama's hand is priceless... congratulations on your sweet new baby.. Sloan is always adorable and in the dress is a baby doll

Oh my goodness Donna - so much beautiful pink. I am going to have a girl baby great granddaughter in September - I can't wait.
A sweet name for such a precious one and Sloan is adorable. It might take awhile for her to get used to her - she has been the one and only for awhile. We are finding the prices of the restaurants to be rising, it's ridiculous.
I just love the new quilt. Such beautiful colors and the pattern is cute. Hope you hear from the guy soon about fixing the sewing machine. Hope he can do it.

Congratulations of the birth of your granddaughter, she is just beautiful and was a good weight too.
Love your AI's, they are wonderful to see.
Hope your husband is doing ok now.
The food from that place doesn't look great at all, such a shame it has fallen back with grease and taste.
Sewing machine looking good and hope the older man can fix the tension, and your quilts look lovely, Donna. Well done.

Congratulations on the new addition. Sloane looks so proud to be a big sister.
That sewing machine is really cool. I hope they can fix it for you.
Too bad about that restaurant. I was out to lunch the other day with a friend and we both commented on the fact that no one bothered to sweep up a mess under a table that was vacated. They were pretty busy but still someone could have quickly swept the mess up

Hi Donna. Wow, I haven't been by to visit for a while so I need to catch up! Congratulations on the new addition to your family. Little Lottie is beautiful and you can tell how excited Sloane is to be a big sister! I love that old antique sewing machine. Hope you can get it working again. It's always disappointing when a favorite restaurant becomes not-so-good any more. Enjoy that new sweet baby in your family and have a good weekend! See you again soon!

Congratulations on that beautiful little baby girl! I see a resemblance to Sam already! That sewing machine looks exactly like my moms old sewing machine. Except I think hers is 1954. Lots of sewing was done on that machine back in the day! I still use it. It works like a charm. XO

Congratulations on the arrival of Miss Lottie Lynn Parker. Beautiful names, they surely flow. Sloane looks every bit a proud big sister. Darling photos! Wonderful food (yours), restaurant food no, not appetizing at all. I hope the sewing machine can be fixed. It certainly is its own work of art. The quilt is gorgeous! I like the new car you are looking at. Happy weekend to you all.

Donna, there's so much packed into this post that I can't possibly comment on everything but I will say that you've had some exciting events ( and some disappointing food related ones). I'm so glad baby Lottie Lynn arrived safely and with less fuss than Sloane. She is adorable.
The quilts are lovely. I will have to look up phalange binding. So much about sewing that I don;'t know about. I hope your old Singer Featherweight can be fixed so you can actually use it.
I hope your weekend is pleasant.

She is cute and the photo of Sloane holding her is magic. It must have been annoying to pay so much for a meal that was not nice.

Welcome Baby Lottie!! She sure is a beauty! And Sloane suddenly looks so grown up. *sigh* My grandma's name was Lottie, so I was excited to see the name back in circulation. The quilt is lovely too! You sure are pounding them out lately. :)

I don't know where to begin but I guess the best place is CONGRATULATIONS on the birth of Lottie Lynn! I'm so happy for Sam and Everett (I hope I have that right) and for Sloane, and for Crystal and Tim, and of course for you and Larry! What a precious and beautiful little one! About the Cotton Patch, ugh it's so hard to see a place where you have loved to stop and eat, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere, go down into decay and ruin. But I know you guys know all the good places to eat, hahaha! Especially YOUR house where everything is fresh and delicious! I would not eat Italian Soup (as wonderful as it looks, and it does) for breakfast, but I sure could go for the Cream of Wheat with butter and craisins! And YES I am old enough to remember those dancing, singing California raisins! One of the greatest ad campaigns ever! Your quilt for baby Sydney is just a masterpiece ... and an instant heirloom! I love the tennis balls on the legs of the chairs at the Mennonite restaurant! Someone said, no one wants to hear all that noise! Hahaha! Stay cool, my friend! Can't wait to see when you get your new truck! xoxo
