The In-between Times

Good Morning Friends...
You know, this "in between" time makes it difficult to have anything new to post about.  A lot of bloggers take this time off from blogging.  I won't but, you might have to look at more photos than words...we just haven't done much...lol
Larry made our usual black-eyed peas and cornbread for our New Years Day lunch.  The boy knows how to cook.  Well, Larry had made the peas and cornbread at 4am so...that's what we enjoyed for breakfast.  Hot and steamy on a cold morning...nice!
The rest of the day was spent working on projects...my sewing, Larry's laser and 3-D printer...making something.  I never know what's up out in his workshop.

Our sweet Sloane...

Grandson William and his girlfriend, Cailin.  We were SO happy to see them!

We went to a restaurant that had been in business for about a year and a half.  The room was huge.  They advertise they are now open for breakfast...so we went.  Long and short of it, we won't be back.  We were there for almost 2hrs...and no one else ever came in.  We now will have to remember that when it's breakfast time...and there's no one there but you...you need to leave.  People aren't there, for a reason.

Looks good but the veggies were raw, and the coffee was lukewarm and bitter.  I ate about a quarter of it the let Larry take a crack at it...he wasn't impressed.

Larry's panini was just sad.  A layer of ham...a layer of gouda? cheese...we think.  A George Foreman grill would have made a good one, but not this.

crickets...

This is a new Chinese restaurant in town...King Noodle.  If you have one, go try it out.  It is wonderful!  A ton of food.  I ordered Coconut Shrimp with steamed rice and Larry, Mongolian Beef with fried rice.
We will be going back!

We had a quick breakfast the other morning.  I just want to say that I made my Apple Jacks...healthy by adding a dried cranberry...so don't judge me...lol

Made a pan of cinnamon rolls...Hey!  It's the holidays! lol

For a lunch, I made air fryer porkchops and fried okra.

Salmon and roasted yellow squash...really good.

The second I read this; I could feel the wind blowing on my face!  How about you?

Asking for some prayers for our sweet little 16yr old Buddy.  He's in congestive heart failure and there's nothing else the doctor can do for him...just a medication.  He has moments where he gets excited or going potty where he falls over, howling until we can scoop him up and place him in his bed.  It's so sad but we can Not put him...down.  The howling comes from fear, not pain.  We love on him and he's fine...groggy but fine.  We know his time is short but please pray for him...and us.  He's been such a sweet and faithful baby.
Well, I hope you all had a wonderful New Years.  Looking forward to a safe and happy 2026!
Until next time...

Sorry about your little Buddy, it's so hard when they're coming to the end of their lives. Such a shame pets don't live as long as we do.

I remember those windows and roll-down windows in general.
Sorry about the dog.

yuck on the beautiful restaurant and raw veggies.. what a shame, its very clean and could be full of people. I much prefer the fridge okra and the food made in your air fryer. Okra is a huge favorite to me. Daddy always had okra in his garden. I lost by beautiful Big Boy to congestive heart failure and one morning he laid down and could not get up. he weighted 79 lbs so no picking him up. I got Bob to put him in the car and drove myself and Big to the ER and cried for days after. Will pray for your Buddy and for both of you.. Your family is so beautiful.. Buddy has had a long life, Big was only 9. Hugs to all of you

The in between time is a good time to slow down and do things at your own pace.
Your food looks so good!
Sorry to hear about your Buddy. Will be praying for all of you!

I remember those triangle window air vents, and I have gray hair! Those beans and cornbread sound good for breakfast. Carlin is pretty. I will look for a King Noodle here in GA. Those Big Macs were amazing. Lastly, I put an air fryer on my birthday list for next month. I love your photos.

Oh Donna, I'm so sorry about your Buddy. Praying for comfort for him and for you.
Restaurants are closing right and left here in the Sacramento area. Its so hard to find a good one any more.
Good Chinese is definitely hard to find. Glad there is one near you.
Happy New Year as you move through this "In Between Time"

I loved the graphic about how nurses decorate their area of the hospital! lol
And I have a question for you...did you use fresh okra to do your fried okra with? Curious minds want to know. lol
Sorry about your bad experience at the first restaurant you went to. Glad the second one turned out better.
I'm always hungry when I leave your blog. ;)

Awww my heart breaks for you with being on the verge of losing Buddy. That is so hard. We've been there and we still grieve. I don't remember the last time I saw a restaurant be EMPTY ... during a mealtime! You're right -- that is a bad sign! But I will be on the lookout for a King Noodle! One newer restaurant that we have enjoyed is Showmars. I don't know where all they are but it is a chain, and if you ever see one, you should stop in because it's different and good! Sloane is such a big girl and so precious! Happy New Year! xoxo

Oh my what a heartache with your dog. So distressing for you all...prayers coming your way.
Let's hope the new restaurant keeps up it's reputation and doesn't fall. A shame about the other restaurant, they won't keep going if they don't up their service, big dining room. Some veggies a bit raw are ok but of course not all.
When nurses hand the tinsel..lol, I can relate to that.
Eldest son has a D printer and he just finished making a chess set, amazing. Sloane has so grown into a beautiful young lady I must say and it's good to see your grandson too.
Take care.
