(Larry and I will be trying to learn how to use a new air fryer that's being delivered Friday... this will be me! lol.... More on how it's going, next time.)
Good morning, friends... Well, it's been a week around here. Went to my consult with my surgeon and got all the preliminary things done, preparing for my surgery. The doctor seems kind which I really appreciated. I come back in for Genetic Testing on the 8th...non-fasting...blood draw...takes about an hour, all together. It takes that long for counseling, signing forms and going over what the test itself is looking for. Supposedly, it'll be a blood draw instead of saliva sampling or the buccal (cheek) swab. They then go over my family history, past medical issues, symptoms I'm now having...and medications. Now I understand "why an hour"!
After that, they want me to have an MRI...on a different day...just making sure the cancer is where it's supposed to be. Thennnn...a few days before surgery, I go in to have some dye injected to make sure the cancer hasn't metastasized or grown into any other parts of my body. Thennn...getting the date for the actual surgery.
Thennn...our sweetheart little Buddy, left us for home...last Thursday, the 27th of August.
Our hearts broke...but it was a natural passing. He was just tired and wanted to go home. Early on, when he started showing signs of wanting to pass, we refused to put him down! So many times, they stay with you, weeks and months longer if you just let them. But if he was in pain...we would have helped him cross. I didn't mind the meds...extra special foods to prepare...when it was close to time, he just refused everything...took small bits of water but nothing else. I knew then his time was close.
We miss you baby boy!! He's with the rest of our crew! That makes us glad to know...Now there's only our pug, Libby. She searched for him for several days but now has accepted his absence. We are enjoying her all we can...she's 13...sigh
Larry made me this binding wheel! It works great...I put it on the right side of my machine and just pull what I need as I sew.
Of course, thighs! With cheesy potatoes done in the air fryer.
I made taco salad...really good!
Potato soup because I just craved some...
We ate at Longhorn Steakhouse after church...these chicken medallions were so good!
Breakfast was two eggs over medium...ish...lol...with hashbrowns & onions, and white gravy.
This morning's breakfast was a layer of fried onions...tomatoes...and cheddar cheese. So good!
Well guys, I guess I'm off to tend to business...I hope you all are safe and happy and free from floods or fires!
Until next time...
Hugs,
Donna

I'm sorry you are having to go through all that my friend. I will pray for a good outcome. I'm sorry about Buddy too! It's so hard to lose a fur member of our family! We are down to one remaining cat and when he's gone there will be no more pets for us! I love the AI picture! All that food looks incredible!
I'm sorry about Buddy, you loved him well.
I'm sorry you have to go through all that testing too, but then, I'm thankful they are checking everything out. Praying that all goes well for you.
So, I'm wondering about the new air fryer. I have the one you had before and am still liking it. Did yours break?
Your food always looks like it came from a restaurant!
Love that quilt!!!
Hi Mari…no, I still have the Corsori. It works well. The new one is a Typhur Dome 2. It base is larger for pizzas and you can make a full meal at once. Also has a self cleaning button. I couldn’t make up my mind to buy it or not but Larry wanted it sooo…but I’m keeping my Corsori.π·
Hugs on so many fronts today.
So sorry about your sweet Buddy. Its hard to loose a member of the family!
Sorry you have to go through all the testing and surgery but thank the Lord it was found and there can be a great outcome.
Prayers for the entire thing, for you and your family too.
(((hugs)))
Sue
I hope your situation works out, and I am sorry for your loss.
I wish you the best with your procedure and it's so sad when we lose one of our pets. The food looks good too.
I can comment once again after not being able to along with others. Let's hope it continues.
My condolences for your loss, nothing as precious and devoted as our animal friends. πΊππ« I've parted ways with a legion of adoptees mostly from the street, shelters but no amount of sadness deters from providing a home for other lost souls.
Oh, Donna, you have a lot going on! I'm glad they are proactive with the cancer treatment. There are so many positive advances made and I know you've got this fight covered! I'm so sorry about your pup too. That is so hard to lose a good dog friend. The quilt is lovely...I'm glad you have that to keep your mind and hands occupied.
So sad when we lose a member of our pet family. Good to hear that they are on top of everything and you are getting all the necessary tests and surgeries and praying for a positive outcome for you. XXXXX
I'm so sorry for your loss, Donna, and I'm hoping your surgery goes well. Will keep you in my thoughts! Sending hugs xxx
So sorry about your little Buddy, so hard to lose our four legged friends. My husband had the genetic testing and he had two different genes for breast cancer. They needed to know that information so they could pick the best chemo for him and the best ongoing medication (Tamoxifen) that he has to take for five years because he had estrogen receptive positive breast cancer. The best of luck to you with this journey. Please note that men get breast cancer also and they do not get mammograms.
Good luck with the new air fryer. I am so sorry about the loss of your 'baby'. Our pets are like family and it is heartbreaking to lose them. My pups have kept me bolstered up when the world would have knocked me down.
I hope your surgery goes well.
When my hubby had his last cancer scare they prepared us for the PET scan/MRI and said to not be surprised if the cancer had metastasized to other areas of the body. Guess what? Not another spot and he was Stage 4 cancer when it was caught. Prayers for the same outcome as you. Hugs and love- Diana
My blog is still messed up, but I am trying to answer some.
I am so sorry about Buddy - they are like our children.
Sounds like you have a good doctor.
Prayers.
Sandie
Sorry about Buddy's passing. His memory will bring smiles to you. My dogs passed years ago and I still miss them but the memories and their photos helped me a lot. Good luck with all your doctor appointments, hopefully this will be in your rearview mirror soon. Sending prayers your way.
Donna, I'm so sorry to hear about your Buddy. Dogs become our family, and when we lose them, it's very hard. I want some of that potato soup! It sure looks delicious, and a perfect comfort food for the cold days that are coming. I am always amazed when I see your chicken thighs too. Larry's gumbo looks delicious. My kids make that from time to time, and they love that Cajun food. I like that pretty blue bowl you served it in. I wish you well with all your appts coming up and surgery. May God wrap around you like a blanket of comfort and love.
You have a lot to deal with Donna, so sorry about your health and Buddy too. You’re in my heart and prayers. I will be thinking of you every day. Sending lots of hugs.
I am so very sorry. thankfully you found it early and it will be a quick recovery.
Cathy
So sorry you are going through so much. Some say best to have the bad times all together rather one at a time, I am not convinced. Sending good wishes from Yorkshire x
I'm so very sorry that you lost a 4-legged family member. It's hard.
I hope everything goes smoothly with the preliminaries and the surgery. Keep us posted as you feel like it.
Lovely quilt.
That Larry sure is handy:)
YOU, take special care of yourself.
Hugs
So sorry to read of all your health struggles, and then to lose your precious dog. That is just so hard! Your pictures of them are adorable, and Libby is beautiful. Prayers for you and your family with all these things. Loved all the amazing dishes you shared - we love gumbo - I haven't made it in a while, and now I'm thinking it is time! Blessings to you!
All the best for your future medical procedures. You make me so hungry with your Food Hall pics.
An air fryer... my son has one, and the food is incredibly delicious. I think I’ll get one for myself, too :-)))
Your quilt is absolutely enchanting. Congratulations on such a wonderful piece.
Great colors, fantastic pattern.
The roses in my garden are putting on a real show; they’re blooming again now until the frost sets in... then I’ll have one last bouquet for the vase. Fortunately, that’s still quite a while off.
Wishing you a happy time and sending you warm regards.
I'm sorry to hear about your sweet Buddy. He was a special part of your family.
Even though there are difficult things going on in your life, you managed to finsh your beautiful Exploding Pineapple quilt and the yellow background is just right.
Loaded Baked Potato casserole looks very yummy. Thank you for sharing th recipe.
Wishing you a peaceful weekend and that all goes well with the testing. Take care, Donna.
I was sure I'd posted a comment but it hasn't appeared. I've been having issues with Blogger so who knows. For 2 days I couldn't post any pictures. Crazy.
How are you enjoying your air fryer? You make such amazing food already so with the air fryer who knows!!!
Have you seen Dori's one and only post? At least we know she's alive. Eventually we'll find out what happened to her but it must have been major.
Donna been lifting you up in prayer ever since I read your last post. I know that the Lord is near and He will get you through all - also am so sorry about your Buddy. What a blessing to have had him to love and be a special part of your family. Take care friend...I will continue to pray for you. Hugs!
I was in the process of writing a comment and it just disappeared, so if this is a duplicate, I’m sorry. What I was trying to say is that you have a lot on your plate at the moment and I know how stressful that can be considering I have been in your place three times previously. I’m also as distressed as you no doubt are over the passing of dear Buddy. You didn’t need that along with everything else.
Praying for your surgery tomorrow. Praying for peace and that the doctors hands will be guided and that you will be healed.
Sue
I am so sorry to hear about your Buddy. It is so hard to lose them. Wishing you the very best. Those food dishes look so delicious!!
Let us know how it goes with the air fryer. One of these days, I'm gonna get me one of those:)
Hello my friend, apparently I have not been keeping up, since I did not know about your health crisis. I will be praying for you and I will keep reading and educated myself! I am so sorry but I know that God has got you today and every other day. And you're a classy lady, so you'll bear up under it with grace and aplomb. I copied that potato casserole recipe and wow, that gumbo looks so good! I see sausage too! Wonderful. The quilt is gorgeous. You're really something. Oh and I see you were watching hula dancers during lunch, haha! Love you my friend xoxo π΄☠️
I am so very sorry about your baby boy. Losing a pet we love can be so depressing and cause such heartache. I recognize that dish from longhorn..I love getting it each time we go there. I need to come cook with you...I think I could really learn a lot... Sending you hugs...
Very, very sorry to read about Buddy. That is heartbreaking. They leave big holes for sure. Huggs and love to you both.
