"Economic Contribution" Acrylic on canvas by Maria Roberts
Early governors saw the women convicts as economic burdens on the colony. Current feminist analysis recognises that the work done by the women in house-keeping, child-rearing, baking, sewing, cleaning, washing in the Tank Stream (pictured), etc. is an economic contribution still unacknowledged.

What a nice picture. There seems to be such a stiff breeze blowing. I know what you mean about housework being a job that keeps repeating itself. Why can't it just stay done?

Oh Donna I LOVE the new desing, love the colos and little stars.
*thanks God we do not have the job women in those times had, only reading all those chores i got exhauted phew ... it would be a good idea to buy one of those Japanese robots that do the house chores and send it through a time machine, I bet they would be so happy...and scared too ha ha ha
Hi Donna, Thank goodness that women's worth is appreciated now days but sadly that is not the case in some contries. I love the painting as it depicts the hard work women had to endure in the past. We are so lucky with our mod cons to help us.
Beautiful painting. I need to do some deep cleaning too but don't seem to have the energy yet to do so.
