Blazing Trails

Hello all....Just a quick post to let y'all know that I'll be taking some time off to fly to Connecticut...just me...Hubby says he Can't get off from work long enough to come with me....SO, I'm Going! MEWHOHATESFLYING......I need to see family (been seven years), now! Hubby and I Are taking off together in October so he says he can't do both. Ok....I can DO THIS!!! Yes, I CAN....YES....I'll fly into Bradley Airport and then rent a car to go the rest of the way to Voluntown. I feel sorry for the poor soul who has to sit next to me....Hahahaaa.....Did you know Delta Airlines doesn't like underwire bras??Hahahaaa.....true! Wonder if they still serve booze...LOL...not really. I'm all Over this post aren't I? Lord, why can't Scotty just beam me there......I hate flying.....I'm a "gripper", as in chair arms...and my eyes tear up...must be from the wind velocity...I think I've screamed once or twice....I can't remember. Y'all say lots of prayers for me....Or, the guy who has to sit next to me...It's a toss-up.

I'll see if I can post from there...I have No idea. DO behave yourselves!!!

Hahaha, it's not the flying that gets you these days, it's the hands on frisking by security! You would have thought the guards were 15 year old boys with raging hormones that were feeling me up on our last trip! (Ah, the joys of having a big hunk of metal imbedded in me.) I almost asked them for a cigarette to smoke afterwards, LOL!

You'll be just fine. Have a fun time visiting!!!

I'll think good thoughts, Donna. I absolutely love flying and airports. Of course, I grew up flying - in small planes, even, from the time I was eight. My mother worked for a doctor who had a Beechcraft Bonanaza and he would take us to the mountains of north GA where he would circle his family home and then land on a sawed off mountain top and wait for his folks to come pick us up. Then, when I married my husband who was an Air Force Lt. and a member of the base aero club, we rented a Cessna and flew from Boston to New Orleans to have our son baptized...just the three of us. Of course, the 24 hour flight when I went to India was a little long, with stops, though in Boston, and Amsterdam.

I thought about being cruel and telling you not to fly to Connecticut as the air currents are very unstable there right now. Instead, I'll wish you well, and I'm pretty darn sure that all will be well.

Sit down, turn on the air above you and chat around you. When takeoff begins, enjoy the sensation. I have flown in a number of planes and always enjoy it. My dad was a flyboy so we hit the clouds in some rather old and new contraptions.I always had a small coffeecake out there called a crumb bun. We will miss you, but have fun. You cold have taken me, I live to travel.

Oh GIRL I so feel for you. I do not like flying ONE LITTLE BIT. I used to, long ago, but since 9/11 it just makes me feel so morbid. The last time I flew was in 2007 when I had to show up in San Antonio for Andrew's graduation at Lackland. I white-knuckled it all the way. But you'll be fine and you'll have a wonderful time, and I can't wait to hear about (and see pictures of) your many adventures!
