Feed Me! But Don't Touch Me!

Sorry about the quality of this shot...I took it through the kitchen window. This little orphan cat has six kitties. They sneak up on the patio to eat out of Buddy's bowl (Our Other orphan, semi adopted cat). The kittens are fat and cute. If they see you though, off they run. Oh well, they're not the First to see me and run and I don't guess they'll be the last...Happy Wednesday everyone!

If the kittens all hang around, you could be feeding hundreds of cats in a few years. :)

ah, Donna- she's so pretty-a Calico!

Wish I had her and had he 'Fixed!'

Well-I have the same problem with a visiting cat on my patio- where I feed my cats! She/he has been around since she/he was a kitten and is now almost grown. My 3 cats(mostly outdoor cats) are friendly with this visitor- and I had hoped I could eventually get close to it but it runs away! I'd gladly have it 'fixed' to prevent any more kittens-if only I could!

I make a point of petting the other cats when this one is around to show I'm a good lady-LOL- but I guess I still look scary because it still runs away!!

I'm a sucker for stray animals. Luckily I can control it though and have managed to avoid bringing any home.

We have stray cats here to. They get up on the veranda & eat out of my two cats dishes. The only problem is their Tom Cats so when they finish eating they "Spray" everywhere YUK!! Believe me you don't want that problem when all those cute kitties grow up.
Happy Wednesday to you to!! except it's Thursday here.LOL

you sound like me donna - geesh. watch out tho-- when ya find yourself feeding every stray on street - and still goin through way too much cat food? start watchin for 'possums. i just caught one on my front porch - finishin off the porch kitties food of the day. grrrr.
it's hard to just haul em off tho isn't it? i been threatening to do that for months... three gone - three to go.. i just can't do it.

good luck with your kitty tribe.

It's so sad to know an animal has no home and isn't loved by anyone. Poor babies.
Glad they found you.x

Oh Donna, stray cats seem to a universal problem. I'm feeding a mama cat who has had her third lot of kittens this year. One of her oldest creeps up when I feed mama cat in the courtyard below. The young one is petrified, but shares the mother cat's food. Mother cat has five small kittens, only just beginning to eat so I feed them behind the staff ablution house also in the courtyard. I also wish I could catch the female cat/s and have them spayed. Have a wonderful day, you kind lady. Blessings Jo

They do make live traps to rescue them.Sometimes animal control will loan them.Otherwise welding gloves and a net. There are more stray feral cats in Iowa than people and the problem never stops. Many figure they take them into the country they will find a nice farm.Weather, fights and disease take their toll of suffering on animals, but their litters are big to keep them going.Their disruption on the ecosystem is astounding. I have 2 tamed ferals in the house and one in the stable that will sometimes let you hold it.You have a kind heart.

Awwwwwww, she's a pretty calico. Unfortunately cats reproduce so quickly. If you could cat her in a 'have a heart' trap and have her spayed......, but then you'd have to do the same with the kittens.
My sympathy is with you on this predicament....
Hugs,

awww Donna, how cute is she? It's too bad that I don't live near you, I could fix them all for you. If you have them trapped, neuter and released at least it will control the population..otherwise, we'll be seeing you on APL's Animal hoarder show..hahahahaha..xoxo.have a good night sweet pea.

we have adopted so many animals over the years...ones that were so shy to begin with, but with time....got gentle and joined the crowd.....we have one here that hangs out under the trampoline when the dogs aren't back there....and we have left food...but she is taking longer to win over....just as well i guess! :-)

Aw, what a sweet looking kitty. We have a little stray that just turned up and I have been feeding her. She is almost tame enough to catch for her trip to the vets.

If you can't catch her get in touch with your local humane society. There are live capture cages that some humane societies or similar organizations loan out just for this purpose. Our area has a special program for catch and release that has really reduced the stray cat population in our town.
