IPhone, IPad, ITouch Users, Did You Know??

I have an IPhone4...It started giving me trouble about two months ago. When I would try to shut it off, it would freeze. The little white twirly thingy would just keep twirling in the center of a black screen...Major frustration. What you have to do is push the Off button and the bottom menu button at the same time for at least 5 seconds....over and over again I did this and Finally, the lock screen would pop up...thank goodness! Well it happened AGAIN Saturday and Hubby said "That's IT, lets GO!" You see, I hate to go to the AT&T store...Thousands of people, and only two people to assist customers...Makes for a LONG wait! WELL!! God is GOOD! In we walk and the girl at the front desk ask how she can help us. I tell her the problem and would you believe she gave me an answer to my problem? No Waiting for a "special" person to help me!! SO, here's the answer...IF you knew this then you are smarter than I am and you get the blue ribbon. NO ONE told me and I have NEVER seen this written in ANY manuel from Apple.

First, DOUBLE punch the button at the bottom of your IPhone. Up will pop these icons! See mine are Twitter, FBook, C2C, mail....At this point, swish your finger Right to Left. If you are like me, you will see lots of icons roll by! Guess what? Like your computer at home, you have desktop ICONS....Well, on an IPhone, if you open an app just once...it STAYS open! This bogs down the speed of your IPhone to load things like your mail, Fbook, etc. SO, now go to the Next step below!

Put your finger on one of those open apps until they start wiggling....Up pops little red circles with minus signs. Touch the minus signs of ALL the apps you want to close. (I clicked them All, but that just me...) If some of them don't come back up and work properly, all you need to do is, Delete the old Icon then... go to the APP Store and download it again. Easy!

If you clicked them All, this is what your phone should look like (above photo). NOW...just punch the bottom button just Once! WaaaaLaaaaa.....You SHOULD do this at least once a week to keep things running smoothly! OH! And make SURE you get to ITunes and load the latest firmware and software! The "fix" is in the newest UpDate download!

SO....There you have it. Technology is a wonderful thing IF you can get the makers to pony-up ALL the info that goes with it...I hope this was helpful OR will be in the future for all you IPhone AND IPAD owners! Yes, the same applies to you IPAD OWNERS as well...And ITouch Owners!!! SO, get busy and clean things up Now, so hopefully YOU won't be in a panic if things freeze up on you!

I'm SORRY to my Blogger Buddies who don't own an Apple product...I know this was boring!

Have a great day!

I knew that !! I am sorry you had problems !! Do you know how to clear out the open safari pages ?? I will try to explain it. When you open safari, you will see red x's I think. Or it will say in the lower right hand corner, for example 7. That means you have 7 web pages open. Click on that and then the red x's will show. Click on them. Then they will close. That is also cluttering up your phone. I have the 3GS. I learned that from the AT&T guys. If my instructions are clear, email me: hiddennotes@gmail.com. I hope that helps !! :)

No, I don't have an I-Phone or Pad or Touch. or Bed, or Car, or Chair. no Apple products but who's to say I won't in the future? this is all good info for future reference. I don't even have a smart phone. I kept calling all hand-held phones cell phones until I was recently corrected. "Becky, they are SMART phones, not cell phones." oh. I get it. I do have a CELL phone, one of those flip-up ones from a decade ago that I use only for emergencies when I'm on the road or something. otherwise I'm tech-disabled.
thanks for the laughs Donna. have a great week. {{{hugs}}}

I haven't had this problem with my ipad. I'll have to try the double punch and see what happens. I think things have been closing out OK for me. It sure was sweet of you to go through things for everyone!

Well I don't have an iPhone but now I don't think I want one. Much ado about absolutely nothing. I have the cheapest phone AT&T will put into my nervous little fingers (read: free) and even that is repulsive to me. I despise talking on the telephone! I have not ONE SINGLE girlfriend that I call except on an emergency basis! If you get me on the phone you're done for the day. BUT I do loves me iPOD ... although I don't use hardly any apps. I'm reluctant to try new technology because it all makes me feel dumb. Anyway I'm glad you had a short wait and a productive visit at the AT&T Store! That alone is worth blogging about!!!

I just got an iMac and will soon have an iPad so THANK YOU.
Now I just need to find a guru for my htc phone.

Also, it is truly a sign of our Lord's mercy that you got into a phone store on the first try.
Best,
Ellen

I'll have to share this info with my man! He's the apple junky and fixer! He has picked up a few iPhone magazines that have shared lots of tips and tricks you never see from apple.

Not boring at all Ms. Donna!!! What I'd give for an iPhone!!! But Sprint has not yet offered it!! I do know how to do that on my iPad though...just hold down on one of the icons and they will all start to wiggle...and the red x's will appear. Just push the x and voila...app is deleted! Trial and error! Thanks for the tutorial Donna!!

I just love making my apps wiggle. Thanks for the heads up!

I think it's shocking that you've been having problems with your iPhone, they're so expensive - at lease they are over here.

Have a great weekend, CJ xx
