Something is Better Than Nothing...

As in "blogging" so here goes.... Libby is TRYING to sleep and I keep messing with her...hence, the "eye"!

Sam drops by the shop and livens things up...
Libby has fully awakened...with the look of..."WHY?" on her face...
Got the Girlz settled down long enough to grab a quick shot of Mother and Daughter.  Have I said lately that I love my girlz?  Troublemakers both, but much loved.
Hope you all enjoyed the long weekend.  We did.  It rained Sunday and Monday and was cloudy all day Saturday.  We just read, cooked and generally just rested.  The kiddos were all off doing their own thing.  Sometimes you just have to pull in the mat and recharge.  Nice...
Can you believe it's almost June?  That will mean that in six more months it'll be...gulp...Christmas!Hahaaa...Start planning NOW!  Even do a bit of shopping....I plan to get started now as well so don't think I'm preaching to the choir!  It just means that when the holidays DO arrive, and they will, you'll be finished stressing and be able to enjoy them as well as having everything paid for!  I never charge anymore...I pay cash or I don't buy.  Don't get me wrong...if I buy on the internet of course I have to charge it but come the end of the month, I pay it off.
Life wasn't always this way for us...we were young and stupid a few times but the lessons were learned and adhered to!  Work hard...pay your bills on time...save.   Share a bit with others that really need a helping hand...locally.  I've learned the hard way that you can't always put your trust in the foundations that claim to "be all about the needy"!!  I want to SEE where my money goes and to help improve OUR community.  Giving to Haiti sounds nice but the money just doesn't get to the people.  Ever.....So look around your town.  See something that would benefit from a little attention?  Jump in!  You don't get anything back but oh, that feeling that you just might have made a tiny difference in someone's life....wonderful.
Jumping off my soapbox now...Hope you all enjoy a wonderful evening or morning!

It is nice to help directly in your area. Each town has a volunteer bureau to check into. Local conservation is the best to check with.

Is Libby a pug? She looks rather young still, how old is she? She is so sweet!! Your girls are just beautiful, they look like models. In fact, I was wandering around a greenhouse the other day, and picked up a sweet five dollar bluebird for my first Christmas gift purchase of the year! I feel better now.

Great advice from your soap box! I haven't charged Christmas gifts in a long time either! Makes things a lot less stressful in January!

Christmas? Stop it! :)

No, seriously you're right and I'm so happy to finally be in a position to pay cash or not get it. It sure hasn't always been that way.

But, you're also right; this year has flown by. I was telling Hunter that we need to start saving money for the memory tree for Ben. We'll start decorating it the Saturday after Thanksgiving. I'm so happy that she wants to do this, and that she has that sweetness about her.

You have THREE beauties in the family, FOUR counting you. :)

Oh, and also I agree about the "giving"; so many organizations have CEO's and other staff, you know the $$ doesn't all go directly to the needy.

xoxo

Love these photos! Libby sure is giving you the stink eye. Hahaha! And your girls are as pretty as can be. Ah, to be young again like that! You are preaching to the choir about good money management. I pay off my cards each and every month. I am allergic to paying interest. I only want interest coming one way - to me! And my charities have been greatly limited throughout the years: Salvation Army, Paws with a Cause, and St. Jude's. And of course, there is always being generous with those folks that you know.

I agree with every single thing you said! Olivia is a riot!! And your girls really SHOULD be models!! They get their personalities from you, right?? :)

I know what you mean about giving to relief funds and organizations that look like they are all about helping! Most of the money doesn't even get to the people in need! I too concentrate more on my local charities. By the way, there i8s a baby in our church who has SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) a rare condition that keeps him from being able to use his muscles. He is 7 months old. Our entire church has rallied around this young family. If would also remember them in your prayers, that would be awesome!
