Happy New Year...

Once again, a new page of our book, turns...2016.  Who would have 'thunk it.  What an amazing adventure huh?  I still remember being fifteen years old and thinking how old everyone around me seemed to be.  I'm sixty four now.....1965 brought us...Lyndon B. Johnson was in the White House, Viet Nam was raging, women's skirts were shorter and men's hair, longer.  Medicare was created...The soap opera, Days of Our Lives, debuted.  Doctor Zhivago is in the theaters...Pope Paul VI becomes the first Pope to visit the US and UK.  The Maple Leaf becomes Canada's new national flag symbol...The Great Train robber, Ronnie Biggs, escapes from Wandsworth Prison and flees to Brazil...Malcolm X is shot in New York...Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. leads civil rights march in Alabama from Selma to Montgomery...US begins airlifting Cubans wishing to leave Cuba and live in America...Cosmonaut Aleksei Leonov becomes the first person to walk in space...Major Edward H. White II becomes the second human to walk in space during the flight of Gemini 4...
Popular movies:   Mary Poppins, The Sound of Music, Goldfinger, My Fair Lady, Cat Ballou...
Popular books:   Dune, The Man with the Golden Gun, Hotel....
Popular musicians:  The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Freddie and the Dreamers, The Animals, The Kinks, The Searchers, Moody Blues, Donovan, Cilla Black, Dusty Springfield, Tom Jones, and my personal favorite, The Grateful Dead lead by Jerry Garcia...
My WORD!!  Where did it all go?  But I feel grateful to have been able to live through it all....At 15, all I knew was what existed in my world.  My car...my first job...getting through algebra and getting my chores done.  What will 2016 bring?
I use to laugh at all those jokes about the beauty contestant just wanting world peace...now, it doesn't seem so funny.
May God place His Hand on us all throughout this new year...may we be Blessed...and may there be, World Peace.

Where do the years go?? Criminy. I remember 15 like it was yesterday. My wish is that my children have happy memories of their youth and that their futures see less violence in this world...not more.

Happy New Year to you, Donna!

Donna - I can't believe you're talking about being 15, and I've been searching for our neighbors this morning I used to babysit for when I was 15. :)

I pray you and the family will have a happy and healthy new year. Also, world peace? Could it happen? I like to think so.

Much love to you all.

Time is flying by at an alarming speed. We've made giant steps forward in technological advancements but taken 2 steps back in so many other things. Those really were the good old days and I could go for a little world peace too.
Happy New Year

And to think, I started watching Days of Our Loves when it debuted with my grandmother and I was 12! And now I still watch it occasionally. Crazy how fast the years go by! Hope you had a wonderful New Year's, Donna!
