Love...Food, Sewing and a Hunt.

Good morning, Friends...
Another week, come and gone.  Valentine's Day is almost upon us.  Any plans?  I'll probably make Larry some cookies...or something...not sure yet.  Update...I made Chocolate Chip Walnut & Caramel cookies...this morning! lol
My eye is healing nicely...although, they say things should continue to heal over the next few months.  I was told not to get new glasses (if I thought I still needed them...which I, at this point, don't think I'll need), for at least three months.
The eye is still healing, and glasses are too expensive to not be accurate in the prescription.

Remember on my last post I showed you the before photo of Larry's latest project?  Well, he finished it.  I think it turned out so very pretty.

I made an Instant Pot Spaghetti recipe...and it turned out so yummy!  Click Here for recipe.
Larry had made up a huge pot of spaghetti sauce about a month ago and we froze it in pint size plastic baggies.  So instead of a store-bought jar of sauce, I just grabbed a bag from the freezer.  But use store bought sauce like Preggo or Ragu if you don't have fresh made.
I also like to mix in Ranch Buttermilk salad dressing at the table (Larry doesn't like it).  The kids showed me this trick years ago and I love it.  Try a little on your plate next time you make spaghetti!  Doesn't have to be ranch buttermilk...Ranch will do.

I made a small quilting sandwich so I could practice free motion quilting...LOL...omword!  It's going to take a lot of practice for me to free motion on my first quilt!  SO...I'll just do a straight or wavy line of quilting...

Finally got the top, batting and backing together!  Had to lay it out on our king bed.  Since doing it on the floor...is totally out of the question, the bed had to do.  It worked.  I then spray basted and pinned it together.

This is the backing...I had to sew it together since it wasn't wide enough for my quilt.

Our great-granddaughter Sloane and Mom, Samantha, spending fun time together.

Shopping with Mommy and her grandmother, Lolli...and yes, they bought the doll for her...Once you hug something...it's yours...lolol

I was hungry for a pork roast...

Larry carried me to lunch in McGregor, Texas, at a place called The Coffee Shop Cafe.
We had to take our taxes to our CPA so we just ate lunch out.
$25 for the buffet, for two...with drinks and dessert!  Nice!
That price for two people, these days, is getting harder and harder to find.  The dessert was lemon cake and vanilla ice cream.

Lolol...could you imagine?

I was working on finishing up on our tax packet when I heard a snuffling behind me.  Turning around, I saw Libby hunting for something under her bed!  I lifted it up but saw nothing.  She backed up, gave me a side-eyed look and marched back into the playroom, looking for Larry.  I never did find what she was looking for...

Sam thought it might help if she told me how the daycare put Sloane down for a nap...lol...Sloane never got that nap...lolol...too busy playing.

We got to keep Sloane Friday.  We always love keeping her...so fun!  She keeps us hopping! lol
Here, Samantha (our granddaughter) is trying to teach Larry how to use Venmo.  It's a payment app.  When he sells a wood project, it would just make life easier for him.

I found a recipe for dressing that sounded good, so I made it.  It was super moist...

I baked it for 45 minutes in a 350* F oven.  Check it to see how done you want it to be.  The recipe wasn't a big help in that area. But I must say, it was really good.

Here's the cookies I just made...Larry loves them...soft insides and crispy outside edges...

Of course, I made breakfast before I let him eat cookies! lol

This is a card from my sweet friend, Ann!  The mail was late last night but Larry found it in the box, this morning!  I love the little designs she creates for the cards...Thank you so much Miz Ann!  I Love getting mail!!

Well, I suppose that's about all for me.  I hope you all are doing well and staying warm or cool wherever you are.
Until next time...

Your quilt looks so nice, and I look forward to seeing it when it's all finished. I love the colors, and it's BIG! All the food on here looks amazing! There's nothing like a good pork roast. I love that picture of Samantha playing with Sloane. I remember doing that same thing with my feet in the air rocking my children up and down. They loved it! Larry's wood piece turned out so nice. I hope he figures out that payment app. I'm not techy at all. Now, I'm curious what Libby was looking for under her bed haha. And Sloane looks so happy in the cart getting her new stuffed animal.

**Donna, I wanted to thank you for sharing your story with me, and I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's passing. It's nice that you feel him with you at times. : )

Wow, I should never look at your blog when I am hungry!
You make such amazing meals..yum.
We just had pork roast a few nights ago..so good. I love the flavors.
Darling Valentines card from your friend. the gnome is precious.
I think I may have to learn Venmo too for the things we sell locally. Cash is nice but I think it discourages some sells.
Aww precious Sloane hugging her soft and cuddly dolly.
Love the quilt and good for you..I guess I just don't have the patience for sewing.
Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Larry's wood project looks even better painted!!
The cookies you baked also look great. I'll bet Larry loved them.
The "funnies" you posted made me grin. Especially the one where you step on your husband's or your pet's foot. LOL

Goodness! You pack a LOT of good stuff into your posts! The food always looks so good...I think I gain 5 pounds just looking at it.

Free motion quilting is HARD! I got an accessory with my new machine that regulates your stitches as you do free motion quilting. It adjusts with your movements to make it more uniform. I have yet to try it. I send my quilts out for longarm quilting now. I may do baby quilts on my machine, but I hate wrestling those big ones! I am excited to see yours finished! Oh! Be careful with the spray basting....I think that stuff has carcinogens in it. The pins should suffice.

Oooh! That baby! And Ann's card! WOW!

Hi Donna! No plans and spending the whole week very quietly. The cookies sound so good and the spaghetti looks yummy, as did the other dishes made at home and eating out. Thank you for the link to the spaghetti recipe and for the dressing recipe. Glad to know your eye is healing well. Larry’s work of art is very pretty, painted beautifully. Not being a quilter myself but loving quilts, your quilting looks great. The photos of Sloan when she was with your daughter, along with the one and her mom and at your place made me smile. The dog funny gave me a chuckle, the Earl Grey, errrrr…..lol! Seeing Libby really makes me miss having a dog. She’s adorable! Your daughter looks as though she has a lot of patience. I don’t have Venmo and it sounds a good one. I pay all our bills online through our bank. Hubs calls me the chancellor of the exchequer because I do all the bill paying. I was given the task when hubs was in his navy days when he was away all the time. When he came home for good he decided he liked it better that way. Ann’s cards are adorable, I love mine too. I am always thankful she added me to her list as it is a real treat getting her cards in the mail. Thank you for another great post and enjoy your week.

Such a cute card!! Love the gnomes:) Trying to learn Venmo...or anything technology related. Ugh. Those apps are helpful, though. He must sell a lot of his things, too, so I know it will be useful. That meme about stepping on your dog's paw...great laugh this afternoon!! So funny and oh so true:) So, you put the ranch dressing in your spagetti sauce??! Just curious -

I have never heard of anyplace that has a two-fer price, so that's pretty extraordinary! We love to eat out but wow, it is becoming so expensive, it's eye watering! It looks like you eat better at home anyway, and I like to think that we do too. WOW those cookies look good!!!! xoxo
