Cats...Cake, Shrimp and Steak

Good morning, Friends...The temps have been better but I think they'll be on the rise next week, again...90's again...Ugg

Larry goes in for his 6 month Cysto wash on Monday for the bladder cancer.  No signs of a reoccurrence of any cancer cells and that's a good thing!

Miss Kitty (our feral cat) perched up high on the old dead tree stump, surveying her kingdom...lol.  She's under and over all sorts of places, as you can see by the bits of web in her fur...but we're just happy she now comes in the house whenever she wishes by the dog door...and she's lately, started sleeping on our bed at night!!  I know it's a silly thing to be excited over but at least she'll hopefully be warm this Winter!  I'm letting a little more time go by before we take her into the Vet's office for an exam and some injections.  Maybe they can tell us how old she might be...

I threw together a pound cake...vanilla.

I remember my Mom and her switch...lol...We were really good when she threatened to use it!   lol   Today's kids have no idea...I never used one, but I think just the thought of it makes a kid use his or her brain...to make good choices.  This was old school...

I got busy on the quilting...really need to get it finished!

Then I made Shrimp Fettuccini...Goodness, it was good!

I did some experimenting with using Ramen Noodle Soup...You know, the food that gets most college kids through school on the cheap?  Lol
In a separate sauté pan, I lightly browned onions, bell peppers, tomatoes and cut chicken sandwich meat into strips, then fried.  Goodness!!  It was a hit!  Larry and I both loved it, and I will be making this again!

I was in a hurry to get back to my sewing, so I threw these steaks into my cast iron pan to cook.  I know...sacrilege...but I know if I tarry too long, I'll lose my momentum.  I've wasted too much time as it is.

Added green beans...

Along with some lemon pepper shrimp.

Then a little cinnamon roll baked in my air fryer...oh, that was good!

And can't have a post without our little Sloane...She had ear surgery again!  New tubes...sweet baby girl!

Ann sent another lovely card!!  How she comes up with all her ideas, I have no idea, but her work is so pretty!  Thank you, Miss Ann!!

Well, that's about it for me this week.  We don't have much planned for next week except Larry's treatment.  Our grandkids (Ty & Sara stationed in Hungary, are coming to Tim & Crystal's (Outside of Houston) on the 18th I believe...Larry and I will travel down to see them on the 22nd.  Can't wait to see them!
So, until next time...Hope you all are well and happy and safe...

Biscuits & Gravy...Fall, Hot Chocolate and Grandparents Day

Good morning, Friends...It is unusually cool here this morning!  55degrees (about 12.8C).  Same for yesterday...cool breezes!  I got to open my windows for three straight days!  I'm loving that and Larry will love the electric bill! lolol

Been a semi-busy week...cooking, turning old crafts into new ones...also, daughter Crystal came up with hubby for Grandparents Day at Sloane's daycare on Friday.  Crys said it was their very first time being recognized for being grandparents...lol...brings back memories for Larry and myself...

Then on Saturday, Granddaughter Samantha asked if I'd like to go with her and Mom to see BeetleJuice 2...well, since we all saw the old one years ago, I said sure!  The movie was mediocre, but the time spent with the girlz, is priceless.  Love them so much...

The theater was COLD...I'll remember to wear suitable clothing, next time!  Burrrr....but the seats were heated and reclined, and no one could impair your view!  Nice!  I wouldn't take the little ones to see it!

Air fryer biscuits and gravy......so good!

Larry made some wings again...love these things!

Opening the windows after a long hot Summer...nice.

We have an attic fan, and I turned it on!  Wow...Cool breezes!

I WANT this 1950's range!  I think it was in Samantha's kitchen (Bewitched)...

The cooler weather made it a hot chocolate day! lol
Any day is hot chocolate day around here...

Have any of you seen these at Costco or Sam's Club?  I'm wanting a couple of them!

I re-decorated this jar from a Spring scented lighted jar, to a Fall pumpkin spiced one.  Smells great!

Tim & Crystal ( Lolli & Pops ) at Sloane's Grandparent recognition at the daycare...too fun.

Sloane, of course!

Well...I guess that's about it for me this week...I hope you all are doing great and are well.
Have a super week!  Until next time...

Labor Day...Fiora, Bad Biscuits and Eye Exam

Good morning, Friends...time got away from me even though it's really been a rather lazy week for us.  The kids went to the West Fest to celebrate Labor Day.  It was founded in 1976 to help the town of West, Texas, raise funds.  Larry and I used to go but after a while, nothing was different...it was always super-hot and there's always a few drunks to spoil things.  Temps weren't too bad for the kids, but it was also a bit cloudy and that helped.

Sam and Sloane watching the parade pass by...

The kids squealed with delight when candy was thrown!

It won't be long before Sloane will be all grown up...time passes so fast...

I made some "Marry Me Chicken", recipe stolen from Mari...it was terrific!!  Will be making this again!

Marry Me Chicken

1 1/2 - 2 pounds chicken breast or thighs, cut into bite size cubes
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
3 tablespoons corn starch
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon onion powder
4 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup sun dried tomatoes

Mix corn starch and broth in crock pot. Stir in the rest of the ingredients and cook on low for 6 hours.
Serve over rice.

I used my own frozen diced tomatoes and fresh garlic with a dash of lemon juice.  Try it and make it your own!

The last time daughter Crystal came for a visit, she used my hairbrush...a week later, the above hairbrush arrives in the mail!  I called to say thanks but why did I need a brush?  She says, "because Mom...yours about took my scalp off!  All the little balls are missing!!"...Lololol
I told her that in the "olden days", girls were told to brush their hair with a stiff bristled brush, with 100 strokes to make the scalp circulation better.  She said her circulation was just fine, thank you very much, and to "just use the new brush, for cripes sake..."  Lololol
We had a good laugh...

It did have three balls left on it...now only one...I guess I shall give it a proper send-off...but I hate to throw things out! lol...I know...and I will!  That's how things you don't need start to accumulate!

Ever tried making buttered toast then pouring on some Mexican Table Cream and topping that with cinnamon sugar?  Yum!

Went to my eye exam...looks like I may have to have surgery on my right eye...a small hole has developed around the retina rim.  When I look at things like a face, their nose appears to be in a swirl pattern.  Dr said I came in early and that was a good thing.  The power also was out, and I thought I'd have to reschedule...nope...Doc saw me using an old method of looking into my eye...anyway, I have another appointment in three weeks...if it's not improved, surgery.

This statue is in his office...

We ordered sausage gravy at a cafe the other day...yuck!  I really tried to eat it but just couldn't.  I felt bad about the wasted money but even Larry said it was bad.  When the waitress picked up my plate, she asked if it was alright...I just told her the truth..."it wasn't very good...the biscuits were rocks and where was the sausage?"
Yes!  I was really nice about it...lol
Asked if I wanted another plate, I said, no thank you baby...sweetly...it wasn't her fault, after all...and we left.  What is going on these days...as if I didn't know.  Cheaping out on how things are made, will just lose you customers...

Rosa's never fails us...

And my homemade granola is really good...
Well, that's about it for me this week.  Hope you all are safe and well and happy.
So, until next time...
