Christmas Planning...William, Larry, Waiting.

Good morning, Friends...Well, Christmas is getting closer...38 days, as of today!  There's so much to do...We'll be having a fish fry for Thanksgiving...we're a little tired of the traditional turkey...and the kids will have had their fill of it on the 28th...so we are cooking on the 29th.  Fish just sounded good.

Here's William and Cailin at Will's Staff Sergeant Promotion ceremony... He's only just turned 25.  We are SO proud of him!

Amen!!

Here's Larry putting together the Christmas tree stand cover that he made for me.  I'll be using this instead of a skirt.

Here's our Sloane enjoying visiting with her Lolli (our Crystal).

And here's a roast Larry made yesterday...It was so tender (Instant Pot for 2 hours) that it just fell apart.  So good on a cool day...72 degrees.

Here's Paula Deen's seasoning mix.

House Seasoning
1 C salt
1/4 C black pepper
1/4 C garlic powder
Rub on any meat then cook

I use it on everything...Found the recipe, as you can see, in 2003...and have used this container ever since.

Waiting for the tree...

And Larry had to take out our old heater to do some repairs on it.

It looks just like this one we have in the playroom.  We use gas space heaters a lot, in extremely cold weather, to cut on the electric bill.  Works well for us.

Well, guess I'd best get in there and get busy cleaning.  I'm also trying to clean out the curio cabinets of things the kids probably don't want.  I'll just be keeping my china sets...some things from my Mom and her Mom...and my books, what's left of them.  I did a purge on books a few weeks back.  I also took an old rocker to Salvation Army.  I did ask the girls first if they wanted it but no was the answer...so off it went.  Now I have room for my Christmas tree again.
Well, I suppose that's it for me this week.  I have two doctor appointments next week...oh how fun.  Hopefully the eye doctor will cut this green wrist band off!  But he threatened me that HE was the only one allowed to remove it...oh alright then...lol
Hope you all are doing well and staying safe...so until next time...

Please thank Will for his service! I sure love seeing that Air Force uniform!! Fish sound great for a Thanksgiving meal...I somehow think there was so kind of fish at the first Thanksgiving meal with the Pilgrims. The younger generation in our family are not quite in favor of the traditional Thanksgiving meal..ONLY Mac and cheese! LOL. you certainly have a beautiful box to go around your Christmas Tree...Excited to see it when the tree is up. Happy Sunday my friend.

Congratulations William!! I am so proud of him and any young person who are in the military. Not sure what we are doing for Thanksgiving, as hubby is not keen on turkey.

My mom gave us their old stand-will show that soon and their tree too. I hope you have a great Sunday my friend. smiles

fish sounds good as long as I am not the cook. love the tree skirt, can't wait to see how the tree looks in it. what a great idea. ha ha on what did you say. bob KNOWS when I say that sentence he better start backtracking on what he just said. or he did, with dementia he just says I don't remember and he doesn't.
hope the green band comes off by the Doctor Only. ha ha

Only 38 days until Christmas? Oh dear, I'm nowhere near ready, particularly as the hospital bed we got for Jos will leave us without any space for the tree. Will have to get a miniature one instead :-)
Loving Larry's tree stand and that photo of cutie-pie Sloane. I'm thinking she's had a growing spurt!
Good luck with your doctor's appointments, Donna! xxx

Congratulations to Will on his promotion and like Shug said, please thank him for his service.
I think a fish dinner sounds delicious. I'm also thinking that roast Larry made looks pretty tasty too.
Love the tree collar he made. I've been wanting to get one of those for my cave tree.

That is a nice Christmas box that Larry made. We sometimes have fish for Christmas, usually salmon. Enjoy your week and good luck with your appointments.

Love the Trump doorbell pic. Larry did an awesome job for your tree skirt. Am sure you cannot wait to have your tree put up now. We usually do either steak or lasagna for Christmas. Turkey for Thanksgiving cause it is usually the only time we eat turkey...except I did make one a month ago as it was cheap. Janice.

What a happy young man with his promotion, well done.
Love that Christmas box Larry made, it looks good.
The memes you found are also good, and I did smile when I saw the door one, just so funny, well for me it was, Donna.
Hope your eye appointment goes well.
Oh my, how Sloane has grown, might be the angle you took the photo from though, such a sweet thing.
Take care.

Your cartoons are just too funny..thanks for sharing.
Its always fun to see your precious Sloane. I think she doesn't look like a baby any longer. Love that her lolly matches her jammies too.

That's a neat Christmas tree stand Larry is making. That will be a nice change from the original skirt. Little Sloane reminded me of the Grinch wearing her green, but she's just too cute to look like the Grinch. And she even has a green sucker. The roast and potatoes looks amazing, and the picture alone makes me hungry. I remember watching Paul Deen's cooking shows. The house seasoning sounds like a good one. Sounds like you are doing a bit of de-cluttering too. That old rocker sounds like something I would have liked. And lastly, I love the Santa photo. Such a charming atmosphere with the fire and hot drink.

You have a very handsome and also dedicated son.
In the middle of getting out Christmas "stuff" you're also decluttering. Nothing like getting everything done at the same time. LOL
Sloane is so cute in that green onesie!!

What a super photo you started off with. A fish fry sounds wonderful, thanks for the food and for the recipe. Sweet photos of William and Cailin, and congratulations to William on his promotion. Please thank him for his service. Most definitely God bless him and all services for the sacrifices they make while we are free and safe at home. Caitlin is ever adorable, and Larry’s Christmas tree stand cover is impressive. We are slowly getting rid of things around here too. It seems a monumental task but one step at a time I guess. Continued healing for your eyes and I hope your doctor appointments go well and that you’ll get that band cut off your wrist. Have a great rest of the week and weekend coming up.

I really like the tree collar or tree surround or treehouse that Larry made you. This year I’m going to be using a tree collar, something completely new to me, so fingers crossed it works out. Larry did a wonderful job, and I’m really looking forward to seeing your tree.

Congratulations to William, and thank him for his service.
