The Flu Shot...

Good morning, Friends...
Well...I did it again.  You think I'd remember from one year to the next...but I don't.  Someone yells, "flu shot" and I'm usually, first in line...no more!  I've had enough.  About a month ago both Larry and I dutifully went to the Scott & White hospital pharmacy and received our injections.  I always tell the nurse we don't want the "high powered" dose!  If you get sick from it...it's not good.  She gave us the "low dose" and we went along our way.  Baby Sloane got pneumonia and an earache...geeez (she's better now) ...we think Samantha was sick with something over Christmas holidays but, we don't know (she's also better now).  Then, there's church.  Hand shaking...hugs.  Trust me, we practically bathe in vanilla scented alcohol.  But that injection...I know that's why I'm now ill.  So...I'll be putting reminders on my calendars to Stay Away from all future injections!  I am well (except for seasonal sinus garbage) almost all year long.  The coughing, hacking...sore ribs...ridiculous!  You get sick to help the body build antibodies...you'd think after 74 yrs, I'd be immune but no...ugggg.  Anyway, I thought I'd let you know what's up.  I haven't cooked...cleaned...done anything.  just sitting and staring into space or at the TV.  I'm getting better now but I swear...no more Flu Shots!  The Pneumonia injection?  I do take it every 10 yrs or so but no more flu shots...ever again.  They are useless.  The strains change even before you receive the shot so what's the use.  I'm done.
Hope you all are well?  If so...stay that way!  I'm sorry if I haven't visited you...just don't feel much like staring at the computer screen right now...forgive me?
See you next week, hopefully.

I refuse the flu shot...I asked my dr. about the rumors of it being mixed with the covid shots/stuff and she didn't say anything-- actually avoiding me and that spoke volumes. Nope. I have decided to be proactive on about anything that is suggested I take or inject whatever...I hope you get to feeling better, so sorry you're sick, been there and done that and germs are everywhere. Keeping in prayer.

Oh goodness. I am so very sorry Donna...The flu this year has been very bad in our area. We took the flu shot way back in October.. I was afraid for my husband not to get it. My kiddos never take the shot and (knock on wood) they honestly never get the flu. I may have to eat those words before the season is over...prayers that I won't. Prayer for your household...that everyone feels much better SOON, and no more flu. Take care...get plenty of rest and drink lots of fluids.

We do not take flu shots either. Had two in my lifetime and both times I was quite ill. It is same with covid shots. We got the first one and the booster when covid was an epidemic but we had already had covid. The second time I got covid I took the antivirals my doctor prescribed. The side effects from those was worse than the covid would have been. No more shots for me either! Before Christmas we both got flu or covid, not sure what it was, but we survived without any treatment. A virus will run it's course come what may. Hope you start to feel better soon and poor little Sloane. Glad she is better now. XXXXX

Hello! I am so sorry you have been unwell, my friend. I have heard it is especially bad this year. I pray you feel better soon. We got the flu shot one year, and honestly, that year was the most sick we had ever been. Go figure!

I'm so sorry! I can't tell you how many of those shots I've given. I used to have to run the clinic and give them to all our patients and employees. But, things really changed since covid and I'm suspicious of most of those injections now.
I hope you are better soon!

We haven't gotten any flu shots ever nor the Covid ones. I have heard such awful stories about the reactions. My son is a nurse and had to get the Covid one , now he suffers from some heart issues...Not a happy Mama !
We got a pneumonia shot and that has kept me from going down the bronchitis rabbit hole. That's where every cold used to end up as.
Dave and I skipped church today because of all of the flu germs floating around. We didn't want to bring on another strain fo flu to contend with.
Dave and I are on the end of stomach flu...we have survived and thankfully it wasn't the lung strain.
I'm like Mari...I am suspicious of most of the injections now too.
Get well, rest and hydrate. This to shall pass.
(((hugs)))

Dear Donna, best wishes for you and sweet Sloane. I'm so sorry, that you are sick!

I'm really afraid of an influenza-shot!

I had an influenza in summer- I was 5 weeks very sick, o yes, and my left ear collected a lot of water until now. But what would an inluenza shot hepl me now? The virus is changing always , and when you have a shot, the virus is going around the globe and when it comes back it is new and the shot cannot help,. I'm really afraid of influenza, and a shot is also a kind of virus, and I think, I would loose the battle.

I'm so sorry about your illness and pray for better health for you. My sweet Sloane also has problems with her ears, what a pity - - my littel grandgirl Clara, too. And then the whole family were sick because of a stomache-virus.
Sometimes I think, the cocid-shot made new problems..

I love the picture, so nice and a beautiful qutlt!
Many greetings and blessings and good wishes for you and all your family from Dori from he Bavarian Forest

My mom took fly shots every year, and was sick every year. I've never taken them and haven't had the flu for ten years, thanks to daily vitamins C, D, B12, Zinc, Magnesium, Lysine, plus raw chopped garlic.

So sorry you haven't been at all well, not at all pleasant, speedy recovery. It's pleasing you daughter and Sloane are now well. Is there any chance they passed their bugs onto you! Just wondering.
We always have the flu injection, and we have choices which are:
Just the Covid injection
Covid and flu injection combined
Flu injection (early in the season)
New flu injection later on in the winter (June or July) which has more strains in it - we always have the latter one.
The vaccines peak at 3 to 4 months, and last for about 6 months. Maybe you know all of this :)

Sorry about your flu. I get the shot and wish it had been the high dose. Anecdotal evidence is not evidence. ☺️ Sorry, that is just what I think. 😇

I love your 'thanks for visiting' meme. So pretty.
Sorry you went down. That's no fun. I'm happy to say, I've always had good luck with my flu shots. (Yay). And seldom go down with flu or colds. Knock on wood. I hope I didn't just jinx myself. And that's so true about the strains. There's a guzzilion of them out there. I've heard this year, it's especially bad. There's been a lot of deaths from it in our state. YOU take care of yourself and please get to feeling better soon. Hugs

The sickness you are describing seems to be everywhere shot or no shot and it seems to take for ever to feel better. So sorry you are unwell. Feel better soon.
