So What Do You Think???

Fake Blue Spruce

Fake White Mother of Pearl.....something...LOL
OK...ALRIGHT NOW!! I Heard that!!LOL....You see, I have to pick out a tree and then decide if I'm going to do lay-a-way and let Them store it until I want it...OR...wait a little longer and just buy one and bring it home the same day! Now, These two trees cost an arm and a leg. Blue spruce is $499.00 and the white one is $399.00.....WHAT???? I heard That too!!!.....Yes! They are beautiful...the pictures do Not do them justice, but I just Can not...in my right mind...spend that kind of money on a plastic or silk tree. I bought one about fifteen years ago from the same place and wrapped each and every limb with lights. It took me almost a week to do it the right way. Geez, I was pooped. The eight foot tree cost about $250.00 then...no more. It passed away....silently, about two years ago. I loved that tree...LOL...Well, I DID!!! (I bought a cheap one and had it for the last several years...BUT...It also took a powder last year). Now, there's no Babies to wake up to glitter and stardust. Oh, they'll come later in the day for dinner but...(You Grandparents out there know what I mean...) there's only me, Hubby and the dogster. The dog would Never open his own gifts!! So, it'll be Target, Sears or somewhere else for the tree buying this year. So what do you say? Spruce or white??? I tried a real one once...Santa didn't know who I was...swollen eyes and lips can cause that....Happy day or night everyone!!

Hi Donna,

I like the Blue Spruce, the white one is really pretty but the blue spruce looks fuller to me in the photo. We sell Christmas trees every year,it mostly wholesale anymore but we have never had to pay for a tree the whole time we've been married. I know I will have sticker shock if we ever stop selling trees. LOL

Joan- OhMyWord!! How lucky you Are!! I like the spruce too....and the white.....spruce...see what I mean??LOL Happy night sweetie!!hughugs

What's this? You're forcing us to think about Christmas and winter and all that money spending? In June? Oh well...I vote for the Blue Spruce anyway. Something so
60's about the white one, know what I mean?

Donna said...

Jeanette-LOLHaha....YES I DO!! In fact my Mom bought one!! I DO like the spruce......Thanks sweetie!!!hughugs

Jeanne said...

I vote the spruce cause I think the primary tree needs to be more traditional but I'd look into a little white one or similar for a fun one too. We get a real tree for our primary and I have a pink feather tree in the bedroom. Yep, I said pink. hehe

Annie Jones said...

I'd go for the Spruce. We bought our tree, a pre-lit one, at K-Mart about 8 years ago and it's been great.

Brenda said...

I bought a white one last year (an inexpensive one!). It's pretty with all clear lights, and done up with all the ornaments the kids drag home. I also used red poinsettias and red ribbon on it (Jerri helped with that).

Most of my Christmas decorations went up in smoke when our house burned 6 years ago. I just haven't had the heart to try to replace some of the treasures that were lost.

It is way too early for me to be thinking about Christmas trees...but, I like the Spruce...and then again the only Christmas tree that stands out from my childhood is a white one we had....hmmm...either way, I'm sure you will make it beautiful!

Donna said...

Jeanne-ALL RIGHT!!!LOL...Pink feather?? My grandaughter had one of thse in her room last year! It was really Pretty!!!hughugs

Annie- I'll go over to walmart and check them out! We lost our kmart about 3 years ago. Thanks sweetie!!hughugs

Brenda- Oh No!! So SORRY about the fire!! All those memories...I really like the white one and can imagine how pretty ornaments must look when it's all lighted!hughugs

Donna said...

Joni- We had a white one when we were kids to. Momma made it Really pretty. Geez! Wish I could make up my mind!!LOL..hughugs

Blue for me. I think I'd tire of the white after a while. Cheap trees work for me. Our present tree is tiny and pre-lighted. That works for me too.

Donna said...

Ac- You're probably right about the white one, after a while. I've seen really pretty ones below $100.00 that seem to hold up just as well as the expensive ones. Happy day to you!!hughugs

Donna said...

Gracious, that is too much $$$ for a Christmas tree! I like the blue spruce the best, but I think you are getting ahead of yourself. Just save up your pennies and buy a new one in November when you can get a better deal.

Think of unit cost. If you keep it for a dozen years and put it up 1 month per year, that is 360 usage days. Do you really want to spend more than $1 per day? I know, I know. I'm a tightwad, LOL!

Donna said...

Donna- You're SO Right!!! I Always put the tree up the day after Thanksgiving, so if I Wait till the first of Nov to buy...I'll Still have bunches of time left And get a bargain!! Thanks Donna!!!hughugs

That's all I have to say 'cause next thing you know I'll be talkin' about FUDGE.

Moving on. :)

Donna said...

Sally- Fudge?? Fudge?? LOLHahaha...Miz Sally, you Know how I get, about Christmas and all...!!! I'm already getting excited just Thinking about it!!!LOL...fudge...creamy, chocked full of walnuts or pecans....LOL

I vote for the blue spruce. The white one is pretty, but it doesn't remind me of Christmas.

*HUGS

Donna said...

Dawn- Thanks sweetie!! You still having LOTS of FUN???hughugs

Amanda said...

Gosh, they are both really nice and it would be so hard to choose. The white tree would look very good with lots of coloured decorations ~ or with an ice look ~ light blue and silver.
But the spruce is really traditional and nice too.
I would go with the spruce i think.
You must let us know what you decide on!

Hi Amanda! I was ObGyn and Pediactrics...loved it. Now I work with my Hubby in a plumbing company...Hubby said there Really wasn't much difference between ObGyn and plumbing...LOL...I tend to agree!!LOL...And I Am leaning towards the spruce...Thanks sweetheart!!Come back Anytime!!hughugs

Christine said...

I prefer "natural" fakes lol.

I've been using the same old fake tree for about 8 years now. It's kind of sad looking and no one really appreciates the work put in to it or the look of it except me, but I put it up every year. You can't see it's Charlie-Brown-ness once all the ornaments and lights are on it anyway :)

Donna said...

Christine- Hi Sweetie!! My "wondertree" I had for 15yrs and I Hated to see it go, and then the cheapy one I bought because I was in a hurry...Hopefully This time, I'll find the perfect one!! Happy day sweetie!!hughugs

Jennifer said...

they are both beautiful... but i think i'd go with the blue spruce, b/c i'm pretty traditional.... when it comes to christmas time. :)
that is some pretty steep prices on those trees, but i can imagine for the price they must be gorgeous. :)

sorry to hear you are allergic to the real trees... they are messy anyway. lol

have a great day!! :)

I got a new prelit one last year, and phooey on that. One row of bulbs kept going off and on whenever they felt like ... and I couldn't find the culprit that was shorting out. Maybe I should have paid more that 59.95 for it, you think?

I like the white tree, but it might be a little fussy looking, and the spruce is nice too.

Donna said...

Jennifer- They Are gorgeous but at a gorgeous price!lolol...And all I have to do is rub up on one...and I'm toast!!LOL I Just can't make up my mind!! Happy day sweetie!! And Thank you for All the kind things you've said on Crystal's blog about me...so sweet...Hughugs

Joan- Me TOO!! 2 strands went out and no Matter What we did, it would not work right! Out it went...LOL...I think it Was 59.95!!! Happy night sweetie!!hughugs

We need a new tree this year, our old trusty tree that we have had for about a billion years has now fallen apart, so I will be tree shopping too (probably in November!!).

My Aunt Sandi from Holding Patterns sent me over here. What's that saying?...."you had me at hello"? Well, you had ME at "fake blue spruce". lolol I love both of them and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Christmas. I'd leave a longer comment, but I have to go so I can check out more of your blog. :)

Donna said...

Tabitha- Thanks so Much for dropping in!! I guess it'll be spruce for us as well...maybe..LOL....but I won't get it till November, as well...just makes sense!! Come Again!! Happy night sweetie!!hughugs

Donna,

they are both pretty...but for me-part of the ritual/fun is shopping for the tree - a real Fraiser fer (sp) - every year! I like to compare our trees over the years, to see which was the prettiest shape- and the fullest- and the tallest!

Oh! Also I like the smell of a real tree and the branches cut from the bottom I always use to decorate the mantel and whatever else...

Besides- when Christmas is over we don't have to store it! :) LOL- It's a big enough job putting away my decorations! :)

I usually put up a small fake tree too, in our living rm.

I am going to be honest, I too start christmas shopping very early, but early for me is August. :) My husband thinks I'm crazy when we are standing in the mall and I pick something up, "do you think mom will like this for christmas?" Steve: "What are you talking about its August!" Anyway I like the spuce. Talk to you later.

I am sure you love christmas, Donna! I myself doesn't want to think about it. I can not say I look forward to it. Christmas isn't the same no more when I am alone. Yes, I have someone to be with, but in spite of that, christmas isn't the same.
I could easely skip that holiday.
But I do understand that most people love christmas.....
Have a nice weekend!

Love your blog! Found it through Red Tin Heart. I'd pick Spruce, though White is beautiful! Can one have too many Christmas Trees?

I used to watch Christmas movies this time of year with my mom. She was always thinking of Christmas! She loved it... we loved it!

Awww, Somewhere Over The Rainbow is playing on your playlist! We played the Eva Cassidy version at mom's memorial service.

Christmas trees and rainbows,
Memories and smiles...
