Today is Flag Day...God Bless and Keep the United States of America. Did you know it's a myth that Betsy Ross created and designed our first flag? A man by the name of Francis Hopkinson from New Jersey should receive the credit. Why can't schools get the history Right? I grew up believing it was Miz Betsy as well...I have Since learned to, Stop Believing Everything I'm Told and to do some research on my own. FOX news aired this story this morning.Also heard Jimmy Dean passed away yesterday...Big Bad John was the first song I really liked to sing...fun.
Well, it's back to work Monday ....Wishing it were Friday already...Hope you all have a Happy day!

RIP Jimmy Dean. I too was taught it was Betsy that made the first flag. So why was made known that it was she and not the correct person? Is there info on that? Guess I should go research it, huh? :)

Well what do you know, I always thought it was Betsy Ross too. I'm praying for Friday myself.
I think we were all taught that Betsy sewed the first flag. Maybe they told us Betsy did it cause it was considered wussy to admit a man did it? Anyway, my flag is flying high. *s*
My college son in law informed me she did not design it but she and several others sewed it. *s*

Gee, Donna, I was still under the impression that Betsy made our first flag. Now I'm going to have to read up on it as well!
I remember "Big Bad John" - another old timer that had good sing along songs was Tennessee Ernie Ford.
