Bread, Cheeky and Pie...and Pergolas

Good morning, friends!
Goodness!  It's chilly here again.  With all the rain passing through, it brought with it, a cold front...so tired of the cold!

It's been a busy week around here.  I ran out of bread so did the quick fix and hauled out the ever faithful, bread machine.  I just load it up with all the ingredients, close the lid, and in three hours, we have a wonderful loaf of bread...no fussing back and forth with the proofing.  The machine allows me to just walk away.  Nice!

Breakfast toasting bread...yummy.

And who is this?  Our greatgran, Sloane, being cheeky.

I bought this large stoneware pie plate from the Pioneer Woman collection (10" X 2" and heavy).  I was in Walmart minding my own business when, this pie plate just jumped into my buggy!  Well!  I had no choice but to head to the check-out! lol

And like any good wife...came home and made Larry a pie.

It's quick and has a custardy feel and taste.  Wonderful served cold.  It's alright served warm but, Wonderful cold!

Hanging my head in shame...at the Walmart, I grabbed up the last two cow sandwich plates!  The pie plate made me do it...lolol

I made lunch out of hamburger meat, noodles, Anaheim pepper, parmesan cheese, tomatoes and an English muffin Larry had made last week, warmed and buttered...so good.

Re-planting of lavender in the badly, drought abused, soil next to the patio.  Hopefully, it'll take off and grow!  It smells Heavenly and just look at the color of it...

I've also planted four rose bushes.  You can never have too many!

I was talking with hubby, Larry, the other day about how I hoped I could find a trellis large enough to let the "Rose Peggy Martin" climb on...Larry then set about disappearing for several hours.  I went to look for him out in his workshop and I found him building a pergola for me! Needless to say, I was a happy gardener!!   He loves a good woodworking challenge...did I say I knew that? Lolol...anyway, I was surprised and grateful.  He's the best...and I love him.

Here's the Rose Peggy Martin (odd name) climber.

And Larry also bought me two White Jasmines for the pergola.
Hopefully, everything will grow like intended!  It'll take a little training of the branches...and wire...lol

And...If you use cast iron much, you'll understand this...lol

Hope you all enjoy your week...stay safe and warm or cool, wherever you are.
So, until next time...

{{{aghast and grinning}} NEVER PUT A CAST IRON IN THE DISHWAHSER, are you cray cray? LOL---My husband always washes it and re seasons it...well, truth be told, we don't have a dishwasher...anyways, Larry and my husband get along just fine, smiles. Have a beautiful day friend.

Oh Sloane - just so cute!
The trellis is great - it will look so good with that rose climbing on it.
I saved that recipe, my hubby will thank you!

You said he loves a challenge but he doesn't look deliriously happy in the photo. I have to resist grabbing anything in stores or in flea markets because I don't have a place for anything else and my kids don't want any of it.

Oh, what a fun post this week Donna.
I'm drooling over the pie and I have cow plate envy right now..haha..love them and the pie plate too. Isn't it funny how things just jump into our carts at the store?
That pergola is fabulous. You have one handy husband. I'm sure the plants are going to love it too.
Our Granddaughter is graduating from university today with her teaching credential. We are so proud of her and thrilled she already has a teaching job for the fall.
Enjoy your weekend

I love visiting you! Everything is so pretty!
Dean from Mart has been sending me pics from all the weather down there. He had one of the hen houses torn up from the storms.
Your Larry is wonderful!

What a cute post title!

What a guy, your hubby! (Mine would kill for that workshop.)
'May have to break down and buy us a bread machine. I don't care for it that much, but Tom is really picky -- plus, he misses not being able to find the hard-crust rolls we used to get in Arizona.

Hi Donna ~ I agree this was such a fun post to read. I'm grinning from ear to ear. Yumm for the bread as I just was given that jar of honey...please send me a slice..haha.
The fitted sheet....I got my exercize yesterday putting the cover on our car to keep it clean for a couple days.

I love custard, and my mom made such a good one... I haven't made one in years, but looking at yours, I think I better make one soon.

BTW where did you find your darling "salt canister"....I've been looking for one but have never found one so cute.

Your bread certainly looks yummy and I can almost smell that wonderful aroma. Sloane is such a sweet little one. Absolutely adorable! I like that pie plate and the two cow plates. The pie plate looks so pretty with the pie. All this delicious food is making me hungry, took note of how you made the hamburger meal with Larry’s English muffins. The Lavender looks great as do your roses. Oh wow, that pergola is perfect. Larry is a very talented man! Apologies Debbie! I could go on and on but this is the beginning of an epistle so I shall quit here. Thoroughly enjoyed everything in your post thank you!

Hi Donna,
that pie looks yummy. I like those two cow plates, very cute. Our bread machine bit the dust so now we use our slow cooker and it makes some really good bread. The pergola is looking good. Have a great weekend.

The pie looks and sounds so good! Thanks for the recipe!! It's amazing how things can just jump into your shopping cart. Happens to me frequently!! LOL Have a blessed weekend!

I hope the rose and the Jasmines do well on the pergola. Once they're growing and blooming won't that be a sight!!
The pie you made reminded me of the "Impossible" pies I make using Bisquick. Mmmm, haven't made one in a while and I noticed today that my rhubarb is about ready to use....

The breadmaker easy they say, great idea. My late mum had one but she and dad ate enough bread to warrant making it.
The crockery does look delightful and nice and bright.
Her sheets must be too small in the last photo..lol, she is certainly putting on a strugle.

I'm right there with you on the cold. I've had enough.
I have had that same problem at Walmart with Pioneer Woman items jumping in my cart and forcing me to buy them. I love that pie plate and the cow plates are pretty cute too.
Larry is a keeper. Whenever I would try and get Wade to make me something he would go into how it would take x amount of wood and x amount of nails and he would always proclaim "It won't be cheap".

Hi Donna. I love that Pioneer Woman pie plate. I think I would have let it jump in my cart too. The pie looks delicious! I have two breadmakers but don't use either one much any more, although I do love hot homemade bread. That is so nice that Larry made that heavy duty pergola for Rose Peggy Martin to climb on. It's always fun to see the latest picture of darling Sloane. I hope you have a good Sunday. See you again soon!

That pie plate is beautiful and those plates are too cute! Not as cute as Sloane though! xo

Being the owner of a bread machine can be a godsend - we've got one too, for use in those emergency situations!
Always lovely to see cutie-pie Sloane, and I'm not blaming you for getting that gorgeous pie dish and those fun cow plates!
And how absolutely wonderful that Larry built you a pergola! I'll show your post to Jos in a minute in a bid to get him inspired :-)) xxx

I found your mention of a pergola to be quite interesting. I have been talking to my builder about adding one to my deck. I would like to be able to have things vine like the gourds that I will be growing this year, as well as clematis and wisteria, if possible. I would also like to be able to have hanging baskets. My deck is fairly close to the neighbor, and I would like a little more privacy, and I think a pergola can provide that. I’m excited about yours!

What a wonderful surprise the pergola is that Larry is making you. I used to have a big bush of jasmine in the back yard of my old house. The scent filled the back yard. Your pie looks Yummy, and I love those Pioneer items you bought for the kitchen. I've been wanting to get some of her things. Those cow plates are so cute! How nice to have a bread machine to make fresh bread. And pics of little Sloane makes my heart glad. Your roses are coming along beautifully. That sounds about right with the fitted sheet haha.

Hello Donna
Your husband did such a good work! It will certainly be nice in your garden! I bought a white jasmin last year to climb on our trees. Sloane is always so cute ! Thank you for your visits and I wish you a lovely week.

Where is my comment? Am I completely losing it? Do NOT answer that! :)

Sloane is just the cutest ever, I love seeing her!

I've never made bread. Are you surprised? You, though, make so many things I'm jealous.

Larry sure did you up with that for your rose! Both of you are talented beyond my words.

Ok, bye. If this doesn't show up I guess that means we broke up. LOL
