Hello May...Stormy Weather...The King

Good Morning friends...What a week!
May rolled in with a vengeance, knocking over a tree from our neighbors yard, behind us, landing onto our fence.  It happened sometime in the night (worse time!).  We get up early in the mornings...so, when I went out with our Libby to potty, (I don't have to but she likes it when I do...), I noticed something out of the ordinary, laying in out yard.  Libby saw it the same time I did and started growling.  It was still dark so I shined my flashlight towards the left side of our fence and saw this...

I just stood there...wondering "what the hell??"
Went inside and told Larry to come see...He did but, we got a better look after daylight.

"He was not amused..."

(See how I did that?  On Coronation Week? lol)
Anyway...our neighbor to the left of us got involved and found out, since it came from the backside neighbor's yard, they were paying for the damages to our fence.  They knew they had gone too long in trimming the tree back.

Yes...we watched the whole thing.  This is my favorite photo of them.  I've always been a bit of an anglophile.  I remember watching Charles and Diana's wedding so long ago.  She would have been a wonderful Queen...but, that's over and Charles is happy with his true love.  I'm all in for true love...

Our Libby being ever vigilant, inspecting Larry's new grill.  Grills are his weakness.  Seems he buys one every six months!  Not really, but it seems so...I don't say a word though.  He's worked hard for years and if we can afford it, why not!  Besides...his grilling skills are amazing.

I made Banana Nut Bread....Larry's favorite.

A silly photo of our precious Sloane that either her mom Samantha created or her grandma Lollie made...either way, Sloane also, "Was not amused!" lolol

I needed to make some more brown sugar...I'd run out.  I refuse to buy it at the store!  Getting high in price so...I bought instead, Grandma's Molasses and made my own (use any brand you want).  So much better tasting than store bought!  It's just white granulated sugar and molasses.  Put sugar in mixing bowl, add molasses until it's as dark as you want it.  That's it!

Truth! lolol

On our weekly outing, we stopped in at our favorite restaurant, Cappuccino's.  A Triumph was sitting out front.  It's been years since we'd seen one.  It was one of the registered few.  Larry was drooling! lolol

Larry ordered a pecan pancake and I ordered the strawberry crepe...yummy!

This wasn't Me!!lolol

That's about all from me this week.  Hope you all are happy and well, so until next time...

Wow - what a mess from that storm. Glad they are paying for the damages.
I'm an Anglophile too and watched a lot of it. That is a really nice photo of them. I agree with your thoughts of Diana and Camilla.
Sloan is cute even when not amused!

Great post on a variety of subjects..I missed the coronation ceremony. Loved all your pictures

That's nice that the neighbor's will pay for the damages. Usually it falls on you to make a claim on YOUR homeowners insurance. I hope they come through for you.

I didn't watch the coronation, but caught up with it all later on. Unlike you and Mari...I don't like Camilla. I'm Team Diana all the way. Poor girl was hoodwinked. I imagine both she and Princess Margaret are both spinning in their graves watching these two. Anyhoo...it was lovely and I love William, Kate, and their beautiful kids.

Thanks for the tip about making your own brown sugar. I didn't know that!

It's good that no one was hurt when the tree fell. I might have to buy a grill, miss my old one but love grilled food. Have a nice week and month.

Donna, so glad the neighbor's going to pay for the fence repair. These storms sure make a mess. Glad there was no more damage than that.
We got brave yesterday and got the back lawn mowed and a few weeds from our jungle pulled. Got company coming tomorrow night so we thought we should look like we cared for our yard a bit.
Love your "funnies" today too.
The one of Sloane is cute and I do think she is not amused..haha...
Take care
Sue

Oh no, that is not the kind of early morning surprise that anyone needs. I hope it doesn’t take long to get all that fixed. Happy you enjoyed the Coronation. I didn’t watch all of it but saw quite a bit. I like looking at all the fashions and all the regalia, and who was invited. Nice to have a new grill and your banana bread looks delicious. That was a cute photo of Sloane with her opossum friend. What a great idea making your own brown sugar. We have molasses in the pantry, so I am going to try this. Thanks for the tip. The cow and glasses in the bread made me laugh out loud. I love the old Triumphs. There was one in our neighborhood when I was young, it was bright red and boy, did I covet that car. Now I am just happy to have one that gets me from A to B. Another great post, thanks Donna!

Yikes! What a mess to wake up to in the morning. At least the neighbors insurance will pay for damages to your fence.
I did not know you could make brown sugar like that. How interesting. Learn something new every day.

Yes, I watched the Coronation of King Charles and Queen Camilla and enjoyed all the pageantry. I like that picture you posted of them and the Sahib just behind her seeming to pat her on the head.

That is a huge tree limb! Gosh, it could have been a lot worse. Glad the neighbor understands they have to cover the expenses for the damage. I didn't watch the hoop-la but wish the new King the bsst. I enjoyed your post and the photos! Yum to the food!!

Wow, that was a big tree. Glad your neighbor is taking responsibilty for the damage to your fence.
I watched most of the festivities, and was struck at how much Scripture was used, and how carefully they handled the Bible. The Music was beautiful and I think the Pomp and Circumstand is so nice because you don't see that level of respect at our Presidental Inauguration.
Oh my goodness...your banana bread looks so delicious. I love the crusty top, how do you do that. And I didn't know you could make brown sugar....In fact, I just bought some today!
We were eating at a restrurant night Princess Di was killed. Will never forget that. She would have been a marvelous Queen.
We had beautiful sunshine today...I was loving it!

Trees are such lovely things but alas they do cause trouble at times and your dog knew something was different in the backyard!
Hope it's all sorted out quickly.
Love your banana cake/bread, it does look delicious.
Sloane, now that is cute!
Loved seeing the little sports car reminded me of the MGB that I owned many years ago and drove it to and from work every day.
I too watched the Coronation, all of it and enjoyed.

Oh my goodness so many wonderful things here.
Sorry about the tree and glad your neighbor is paying.
I love your pug!
Your food!
And your jokes.
I watch a little of the Coronation - still missing Diana.

Wow! Big branch! I have never made my own brown sugar before but I don't bake nearly as much as you do! Your banana nut bread looks delicious!

That was a big tree branch. It’s probably better that it happened at night so that nobody got hurt. It’s always a pain to deal with, but it will get done. I watched the coronation from beginning to end. I stayed up all night, in order to do so, and didn’t regret it. What a spectacle! I love all of the pomp and pageantry. Have a good week. Hopefully all of the neighborhood vegetation stays in place.

Oh dear me on the fallen tree!! At least no one was hurt. It’s always fun to catch up with you. I loved seeing the pictures from your old days. You and Larry made for a stunning couple. It’s always nice to see what you’re coming up and to see Larry’s pergola. How beautiful!! Happy Mother’s Day, Donna! 💐

I totally get why Larry was not amused ... and yes, I saw what you did there :-) What a thing to wake up to! We had part of our fence come down during a Winter storm, but there wasn't a tree involved.
What a great idea to make your own brown sugar!
That final picture made me smile. It wouldn't be me either, as I can't see a thing without my glasses :-) xxx

We had that same weather come through S.E. Texas! I wrote about it on my blog this week :)

And what a great job on the pergola! It's perfect :) Love the old pictures of the two of you, too. Have a wonderful week!

I live in a dry county. I don't mean without alcohol I mean without rain. Looks like you got it all. We keep having 15% chances but none so far and my kids have just planted gardens on the property. They won't allow me to get out and water. We are also dry for nice food restaurants. My little town has one cafe and one dairy shack. Noting fancy in either place. And please get that critter off Sloane's head!!!!

Thank you Donna. My husband is a doctor, we try to cope with the problem at home . He works but phone me and I have my I phone that tells me how is my heart.but if it is not better I will call an ambulance to go to hospital. At the moment I rest, but it is stressing, I already have been twice to hospital. See you soon.

Is it really a photo with a real oppossum on Sloanes head??? :))))) She always looks so VERY sweeeeet, also when she must carry a little dragon some million years old :)

Hi! What a horrible thing to wake up to! I'm sure glad the neighbor has insurance. Sloan is adorable, don't you just love the fun things a phone can do?! Your banana bread looks delicious, and just the thing to make you feel better after a big tree falls on your fence...have a good one!

UGH I hate it when trees or parts of trees fall and destroy things! Bad vibes for sure. I watched ZERO of the coronation because I truly cannot abide those two. Enough said. Tell Larry I was walking up to a house to deliver some fabric to a lady who sews for me, and there in their driveway was an ancient Karmann Ghia. What a blast from the past. I am going to have to make my own brown sugar from now on. I knew that's all it was but it never occurred to me to do it myself, haaaha! You're an inspiration. xoxo
