Te'Jun Food, Unicorns, Rings and Reminders...

Good morning, friends!
Hope you all are enjoying your Saturday.  It's been a slow week here...nothing really exciting going on.  That's actually a good thing! lol

We took lunch at one of our favorite restaurants in town.
The Te'jun Restaurant...fresh seafood!  We didn't go out on the veranda though...too hot!  105* in the shade (40.56 C)!

Larry enjoyed the seafood basket...

Cute paper towel holder...

I ordered the peeled shrimp lunch.  They give you a lot!

Sloane got a tattoo when we kept her on Monday.... It was in her pudding box so, on it went!

Snack time happiness!  Such a ham...lol

Gampa and Sloane inventing a new fashion statement!

Our granddaughter picking up her Sloaneygirl...after work on Monday.  We love keeping her.

;o)

Absolute Truth!

Years ago, our advertising guy, through our plumbing company, presented Larry and I with our own Bobble-Heads.  We were.... amused...Lolol
By the way, my eyes are green, not blue!

Halloween
94 more days!

Thanksgiving
Are You Ready??  American friends!  It'll be here sooner than you know!

117 Days!!

Christmas
149 more days!!

I'm already exploring recipes and gift ideas for both holidays...You need to start preparing now!

Don't be like Tommy Tortoise!  You're going to wish you'd been more prepared.
Some holidays I am ready for...others, not so much, over the years.  I just know it's a lot easier on the old pocketbook if you do a little at a time.
Well...I guess I'll drop off now.  It wasn't a very interesting week here (I am not complaining!) except when Zales called and said our rings were in... we jumped into the car and rushed...well maybe not rushed...stopped for a yogurt ice cream...lol...well anyway, long story short, they were not both in!  Only Larry's was.  Needless to say, I was disappointed but when I saw Larry's grin, I was fine about the delay.  He loves his ring and so do I.  50, now going on 51, ain't nuttin' to turn your nose up at...lol...A new milestone, as it were.  Mine should be in by the 4th of August...we'll see.

In the meantime, we'll be enjoying this Saturday with Lima beans and Tri-tip from the smoker.  Larry's a great cook...
I guess later on today, we'll settle in for some TV watching.  Right now, we're binge-watching the Dr Blake Mysteries (2013-2018) on Brit Box.  Just finished Grantchester on PBS and Endeavor, also on PBS.  All good shows if you're into police procedurals.  We enjoy them.

Well, I can't think of anything else to bore you with so, I'll sign off for now.  Oh!  One more thing...

I just found out our Vee from, A Haven for Vee , sadly lost her battle with breast cancer.  She was such a sweet Blogger Friend...always a kind word.
If you could, say a prayer for the family.

So, until next time...

Ringing of the Bell...

Good morning, Friends!
Well...It finally happened!  Ruth Ann got to "ring the bell"!  Pronouncing to the world that as of right now, she is cancer free and has taken her last chemo!  Her oncologist turned her loose for four months then, she will come back in for another CT Scan, and if that's still clear, another appointment in six months and on and on until it's been five years...then she'll be formally pronounced cancer free.  But in the meantime, she is setting up her appointment for surgery to re-attach her colon and kick the colostomy bag out the door!!  She's so excited and grateful!
Thank you all for your continued prayers!!  I totally believe in "prayer in unity"...simply meaning a large group of people praying together, and heartfully believing in the prayer.
It works miracles...
I am so blessed to have you all in my life...

The Bell Ringing...click on the "enlarge" button in the bottom right hand side of the player to watch if you can't see well.

Ruth Ann comforting another patient...trying to let her know we're all in this together.

Myself...Ruth Ann's son, Brian (he has cerebral Palsy) and Ruth Ann.  We are over the Moon, happy!

More happy tears...

Brian and Laura... She has to undergo surgery again on her back...but also for her Melanoma.  You can see one of the surgeries on her arm.  She's pretty well in constant pain.   Four or more surgeries, to go...please pray for her!

We are nothing without God in our lives...

Nephew Brian and myself...he's such a sweet boy...I love him.

Laura and Ruth Ann

Amen...

Larry placed a can of salmon on my cutting board....lolol...His way of placing an order for salmon patties.

And salad...

With a dessert of Double Chocolate brownies.

Sloane is now standing alone and taking quite a few steps across the room!!  Won't be long before she's off and running!

Snack time! lol

Sugar time!  Love that smile!

What a week.  Back in January, Larry and I decided to give each other a 50th wedding anniversary gift of new wedding rings.  Our old gold bands were pretty well worn out.  So we decided we'd start out the next fifty years with new white gold ones.  A new beginning, so to speak.  Well, we never got around to getting the rings bought...Ruth Ann came first.  So... on Friday, (everything was on a Black Friday sale at Zales...) we bought new ones.  We each got the ring we wanted. Had to have them sized but should be ready this coming week.  Can't wait...It's been a long time since we've been excited about something...maybe our Samantha (granddaughter) announcing she was pregnant with Sloane...?  I don't know...I think you all know what I'm talking about.  I guess life has a way of keeping "high hopes" for us older people, tamped down...We know sad things are coming so we don't really expect too much from life.  But when happy things come along, we are thrilled, all the more.
We celebrated with yogurt...lolol...yep...
We just took time for each other, looked at one another and I said, "What a ride"... he looked me dead in the eye and said, "yep..." (meaning our whole 50 years together) Lolol... and it has been...Would we do it all over?  Yep...
Larry had mostly chocolate, and I experimented with Key Lime pie and chocolate...Seriously yummy combination!!

Lolol...fooled me too...

;o)

Every time I look at this child, I thank God in Heaven for my family and our lives!  We may not be rich, but we are comfortable.  We may not drive the latest cars (2011 and a 2013) but they take us to our destination.
I've always heard, It's not the destination, but it's the journey, that's important.  Love each other...laugh...be kind...comfort others.
Find your Joy...
Until next time...

Strawberries, A Baby and Beer Tax?

Good morning, Friends!
We're just living life...I cleaned strawberries and froze them.  I can't stand how fast they ruin!  I remember, years ago, that most fruit kept well in the refrigerator for at least two weeks...or longer!  I never had fruit start deteriorating within three or so days!  But these past years, (2010 to present) approximately...I've either had to serve up all the fruit in my refrigerator or, freeze it!  Any of you older ladies remember this?

Soaking the strawberries in a water and vinegar solution 3:1 ratio (water to vinegar) leaving them to soak for about ten minutes.  Removes insecticides and dirt then, rinse in cool water.

Then I use my handy little chopper and freeze some and save some out for eating.  SO quick!

If any of you are on Facebook, are there any of your "friends" that are constantly blabbing on about how awful their lives are or how bad people treat them?  And I mean constantly? I dumped several of my so called "friends" because I simply couldn't take it anymore.  Tired of all the negative post.
I used to post on FB a lot but not much anymore.  I love my Blog and if I have anything more private to say, I say it here.  I really don't think you should post things like, "my husband is a real SOB because he won't let me go away for a weekend with so-n-so!"  Or, asking about tips for a better sex life...or the old "woe is me" crap, constantly!
TOO MUCH INFORMATION!
So, they are gone.  I also cleaned out my "friends" list on FB.  If they can't at least like or say something once a year to me then why do I keep them?  To me, they are just voyeurs...wanting to know what I'm doing but not wanting to interact.  My Blogger Buddies (You!) are wonderful here and on FB...It's the "friends" that I know, went to school with or worked with, that I'm done with!
Friendship is give and take.

Here's our sweet Sloane "out in the wild"!

Making new friends...

and sealing it with a kiss...lolol

Our daughter (Lolli) came in to spend the weekend babysitting her SloaneyGirl granddaughter...We traveled down to see them at our granddaughter's (Samantha) house.  Had a sweet visit.

Once in a lifetime photo! Lolol  I'm not sure what she was trying to convey but that face said it all!

I'm sorry (not really) but the last several generations are worrisome!  How do you NOT know the car is too hot or that you've left your BABY in the backseat??  The cases I've heard about...I simply don't believe their excuses!  It's plain murder.

We bought a TracFone at the end of June.  When we sell something in our paper or online, we don't want our real cell phone numbers to be published.
The other day, I was looking at the receipt when I noticed something strange.  See the Tax number 1?  That's the correct multiplier...8.25%
See the second line that says Tax number 7?
That's for BEER.
Now, why did that tax #7 get on there?  We just purchased the cell phone and a $20 dollar calling card!
Nobody sold us any beer...We haven't bought any beer, anywhere, in over three years,,,Anywhere...and certainly not while buying the cell phone!
I went to the service desk yesterday and was told none of the tax transactions are handled by the employees!  It automatically is added to your receipt!  It's added by magic...
The lady at the service desk said she "knows nothing" about those kind of things...I need to call the main company and ask them about it.  I'm talking about Walmart...
I came home with a headache.  I know it's only 40 cents but how many other people are getting ripped off on larger purchases?   I'll have to call on Tuesday...Monday, I have Baby Sloane and believe me...she doesn't allow me to talk on the phone! Lolol

Lastly, my potting station is coming along.  Slow progress because of the heat.  I still want to order a tarp or gazebo covering.
Well, I've bent your ear for long enough today.
Hope you all are well or getting there. So, until next time...
