Cookies, Cake, Pie and Sublimation?

Good morning, friends!
Sorry to have been gone for so long!  It's been a busy week.  I kept Sloane for three days instead of our usual one, on Mondays.  Her ears again, and teething.  She had good moments and bad.  It's hard to watch someone you love, hurt.  But all my granny tricks worked and by the end of each day, she went home happier than when she arrived.

She is loving her chair...I placed it between me and Gampa's chairs, in the living room.  Taking care of her baby like Gamma takes care of her...lol...Have I said how much we love her? lol

Finally, a happy face...

I believe this was Tuesday that we went into town to do a few errands.  We stopped at the local Collin Street Bakery for a coffee and turnovers.
We were sitting at our table when I started to look out a window to my left, and  saw this rack with cookies just sitting there...in the open air...just sitting there...:O[
I can't imagine why...I thought about going up to ask but, lost the will.  Every day we see something, somewhere, that says, "We don't care".   When are people going to start caring again?  I'm tired...

It doesn't take long for those baked items to go stale...or some fly sees a tasty treat...
What would you have done?

Well, as if we didn't have enough hobbies to conquer...we bought a new printer just for Sublimation.  What the heck is that, you ask...Click Here to see what it's all about.  This looks fun since whatever you print on things, it won't peel up.

These are two t-shirts I did for our Sloane.  Not by sublimation but by the basic vinyl cutting on my Cricut  smart cutting machine.  Fun projects.
I'm still in the process of setting up the new printer and learning how to do things.

Black sparkly vinyl and solid orange.

And here's my old trusty sidekick, in all things mayhem.  Needed an extra place to store all my crafting bits and bobs.  A six tier metal rack worked perfectly.
Just realize, I haven't gotten the supplies sorted!  It's needing baskets and labels, but I'll get there.

I decided to make a new recipe for banana nut pound cake that I saw on Pinterest...turned out horrible!  Hockey-pucks!!  I could have done some real damage if I wanted to throw them!  Oh well...in the trash they went (boy, that hurt...wasted flour, sugar and nuts...uggg).

This is my old "tried and true" recipe for banana nut poundcake.  Wonderful.  Never fails me.  Should have baked these in the first place but nothing ventured, etc.

I also baked a coconut pie maybe last weekend? Really good!

I received, by mail...(I Love getting "real" mail!) this Oh So Pretty card from blogger mate, Ann.  I'm a little prejudice about her and her talents (baker...crafter...candlestick maker...lol, well she did a time or two, make a candle)  since I've been following her for years.  Can't say enough good things about her...So!  Thank you Ann!  I'll be getting you one back, shortly!  How fun!
Check out her August 21st post about her cards. Maybe you'd like to join in on the fun?!!

Well, I've bent your ear long enough.  Hope you're having a sweet and peaceful weekend...so until next time...may God keep His hand on us all...

Chairs, Sandwiches, Food...and a little Venting?

Good Morning, friends!
Goodness, the week has flown by!
Let's see...I ordered Sloane a chair from Amazon,  She's getting to where she likes to look at her books but sits on the floor.  Well, Gamma ain't having that! Lol... She needed a nice comfy chair that doubles as a sleep mat!  The things they come up with these days!

It even has a side pocket for her books...handy!

You remember I told you about the box I made into a little house for Sloane to get into and read or just play?  Well!  Look see who's crawled into it! Lolol

We ate out at our favorite sandwich shop...Schmaltz.
These things are addictive!  The bread is so good...and they're served hot.

I had to run to JoAnn's Fabric store yesterday...when I spied World Market and decided I needed to spend a little time there, as well.  I found this delicious smelling, glass pumpkin candle....Cider and Cinnamon.

I had a Dirt Devil hand vac that decided to croak after using it for only a few weeks!  Hand vacs are so handy.  I'd ordered it from Amazon for cheap so, sending it back wasn't worth the time or expense. In the trash it went and Larry found this Black & Decker at Walmart.  $49 and some change...it's a little powerhouse!

Since daughter Crystal was in town, we all (me, Sami and Crystal) decided to take Sloane to a play (romp room) in town.  She had some serious fun!  But we were famished so we stopped for a quick lunch at Chick-Fil-A.

Sloane was all up into that chicken sandwich! lolol

September screams chili, here in Texas!

Then...while reading blogs the other morning, I came across this recipe from Linda's Life Journal .  I only made a few adjustments.  I added cranberries instead of raisins (didn't have any) and added more cream.  I also used cinnamon instead of nutmeg.  It turned out great!  In fact, Larry said he liked it better than the old time recipe!

I let it cool then put it in the refrigerator.  It's also wonderful hot!

We've eaten frito pie for years!  Add all your favorite toppings.
Well, I suppose that's it for me this week.  Oh...and just a tiny aside?  Let me say, right off the bat, that I love all my Blogger Buddies!  Your kindness and love and support is a wonderful thing to behold.  I promise never to mention politics again, though...

I was reading a blog of one "friend" yesterday.  And out of the blue she starts off with words like "Cheeto-Head...and her husband friends, who were lovely and smart but, voted for Desantis...ridiculing a white church for having to have police surveillance during services...and betted $100 neither Black or Jewish facilities had the same courtesy on Sundays...and she's a English teacher.   (Jews attend Shabbat on Friday evenings, Saturday mornings and afternoons).

Well...the post lit a flame inside of me...it was hurtful to me, as a Conservative.  You never hear me talk about the current administration!  Although there would be all kinds of cruel things I could say...but I see no sense in doing that!  How you vote is your decision... but I don't feel the need to post about my political views.  And I certainly would never insult you!  I follow some very political post that are kind and respectful, on both sides of the aisle.  But they also show me how to keep a garden or how to take a better photograph or how to make a special recipe.  I appreciate everyone who is simply kind and loving.  I don't care about your politics...but insult me?  And others like me?  I don't have time for all that hate...or ignorance.  My family has been through enough negativity this past year...and I just no longer have the strength to listen to such rhetoric.

Okay...rant is over...Thank you for reading this far!
So...until next time...

Sinners, Lunch, Ice Cream...and Surgeries

Good morning, friends!
I'm a little late om this post...it's been a busy week.  Our little Sloane had to have tubes inserted in her ears on Wednesday and my sister had her colonoscopy Thursday...then I kept Sloane yesterday.  I think I'll be taking a tiny break from things today and try to get into a project with my Cricut machine.

I Loved Saturday Night Live...years ago...when Gilda Radner and Steve Martin (he's from Waco; had an Aunt that lived here, and he lived with her) were on.
Today's SNL??  Awful...

I put together our lunch the other day of grilled chicken kabobs with a sauce I've been using since 1972.  I'll try to get it posted on my cooking blog this week.

You can also use cubed or strips of beef...both are great.

Larry treated us to breakfast Tuesday, at Rosa's Cafe.  It's always good.

I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker.  I love it.  No pre-freezing of the bowl...just throw your ingredients in and turn it on.  We are an ice cream lover family, and this machine made my life so much simpler.  Done in 60 minutes!
Found it on Amazon...

After the machine has worked its magic, put it in a bowl, pop the lid on and put in the freezer.  This was double chocolate...wonderful.

Larry grilled up some chicken thighs and made the best white cheddar macaroni!  Sloane was with us, and she ate every bite!

Sweet Sloane, playing with her "twins"...Lol...yes...she now carries both of her baby dolls everywhere.  They were getting their bath in the photo above...smile.

You can tell she feels so much better since the surgery...such a happy baby again.

My sister, Ruth Ann's procedure went well!   The surgeon found a small polyp and removed it...said it wasn't cancerous.  She now qualifies for re-attachment surgery!  She is so sick of the bag...brighter days are hopefully coming!

Had me fooled for a second! Lol

In all of this atrocious heat, (105-110F), I was watering the other morning when I spied blooms on my ornamental pear tree!!  Unbelievable!!  I was so happy to see them...I guess this species blooms in the Fall?  No clue.  But!!  Cooler temps are on the way!!  101F today but starting tomorrow, 96F for the high then it starts dipping down into the 80F's!!  We are so happy about that bit of news!
Well, I suppose that's it for me...nothing very entertaining but just one of those "get it done" weeks.
So, until next time...be safe, make good choices and...
